Why are they so shit without him?
Why are they so shit without him?
Le No Nonsense Hard-ass Boomer
He had the refs in his pocket
because saf was a god tier manager, great relations with the players, great tactics, great focus on youth and great choice for transfers. Easily one of the best managers in the world so unless they closed 1999 saf every 10 years to replace the old one, every manager would pale in comparison.
unless they cloned 1999*
scorched earth
he literally left them with nothing but duffers
naively stopped bullying the fa
Mike Dean no longer plays for them
because he's been sabotaging every manager since
He was in it for the long term, so he'd constantly be looking at the next seasons ahead of him on top of the current season. He'd sign players for the future and would wind down players who were starting to be past their best. He was pretty brutal at cutting loose players who were even still really good, because he thought they were on the decline.
When he decided it'd be his last season he stopped all of that. He didn't sign anyone for the longer term, didn't move any players on. He wound up winning the title with a squad that were 70% peaked and on the decline and then passed that shit show over to Moyes.
It's ironic that Moyes' only two signings were still starting figures three years later.
no talent
I honestly think they would be in a better place right now with moyes
Following the GOAT is always psychologically difficult. Doing this with shitty plastic fans who demand continued league dominance and with rival fans smelling blood and banter with every step you take makes it harder. SAF had the board in his pocket - board still don't know how to support someone without his magic touch. Everyone expects immediate success - look at "Ole's at the wheel", the fans thought all they needed was the right new manager for United dominance to simply restart.
The squad are a mess, they need a Klopp to press reset and build, patiently for the next few years instead of meme managers that they expect to work miracles.
>High respected man management
>Tactical adaptability
>Could Create decent squads without spending a tone of money (retrospectively)
Name one manager today who has all these traits
The same reason why Barcelona will be shit without Messi, Real Madrid are shit without Ronaldo and Argentina were shit without Maradona.
It's impossible to replace a GOAT. United's time is over, they need to rebuild and start from the bottom, that'll take 3-5 years. During that time, Spurs will replace them in the top 4 (Already have done) and Arsenal/Chelsea will fight for 4th place.
>The same reason why Barcelona will be shit without Messi,
I don't know man they're investing in good young players. Sure they won't be as dominant but they'll be pretty good.
His word is law, no one can't argue with him, if you don't like with his strategy or how he wants you to play, the exit door is always open.
He left the club with shit infrastructure (not his fault completely. Part of it lies with the Glazers)
It's already been 3-5 years.
>tfw my local team fell to mediocrity around the same time as united
i'm not a fan of united, but i understand the pain too much
They're not rebuilding though.
Man U are not organically rebuilding, they keep signing superstars.
A core of British/Irish youngsters with the odd Norwegian/Spaniard takes years to build up.
They would be shit with him as well, he just jumped the ship at the exact right moment when all the good players got too old/left.
This. Yea Forumsee was wrong again.
He would have got a couple of title close runs
Utd started to decay in the mid 2000s but it was masked by Ronaldo's rise
Because he was an all-time great and there wasn't nearly as much real competition for them then as their is now.
