want to be a fan of a Major League Soccer team I am looking for: that the MLS team is the most important of all its city / state that the MLS team is the most successful in their city, than the most popular team, that is the team with the most championships. the team with the highest attendance the team with the most fans where soccer is the most relevant sport
and this in a city where any team of the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL always lose, pathetic, almost without fans, irrelevant and without championship.
Which of the current MLS teams would recommend me or would it be better for me to wait for a future Expansion team?

issue isn't the payments, but that MLS doesn't follow FIFA rules about free transfers
MLS has been sued multiple times and it switched back and forth between claiming it is a single entity with franchised teams and that it is a collective of independent owners Because US anti-trust and labor laws have been wittled down by neolibs for the last 40 years, the courts won't force MLS to decide if it is or isn't a monopoly.
MLS contracted athletes are getting fucked over: there is no free agency, since everyone is owned by the league, thus little bargaining power for players. FIFA rules state that once a player is out of contract with one team, they may move to another, but MLS ignores that ruling.
MLS says it isn't a monopoly and that it isn't crushing labor rights because if players don't like it, they can go play for another league in the world. This is incredibly difficult to work out, since labor movement is difficult even when going to Canada or Mexico, much less Japan or Ireland. Adding solidarity payments makes it that little much more difficult.
Adding to that, MLS/USSF made clear that they won't be helping any non-MLS academy receive money owed to them, meaning that amateur teams will have to pay whatever legal fees come from filling claims around the world just to get $40k
show me a more American poster than this. Don't think it can be done, he has the anti-worker sentiment down, probably thinks playing professionally isn't work to begin with, and that they should be happy with the league minimum which is like 60k a year, because he would be happy with that and they should be too. Probably owns more than one piece of clothing that has just the league's logo on it.
daily shill update: former MLS staff writer and currently at The Athletic, who spent most of his time outside of MLS offices concern-trolling pro/rel people and "retired", is today accusing the labor union of "profit-seeking" against the poor, brave MLS
I mean he is right The MLSPA has only one interest and that's benefiting the players IN MLS

It will be harder for Mls academy kids to leave their academy. The only reason many European academies have raided Mls academies is because they knew they can literally get them for free and - if they're good enough - sell them later when they play European football and improve as seen with McKennie. Now Mls academy kids will have to sign convoluted contracts with Mls and hope their team wont fuck them over when a European club comes around. Also, European clubs will be more risk-averse now that Mls will demand a sell-on clause and something around 100-500k for an academy player which is a lot of money for an unproven kid.
The only hope now for these Mls academy kids who absolutely will be fucked over by Mls is to outright leave their Mls academies and join a USDA so that at the very least their transition to a European academy will be less complex and annoying.

>It's bittersweet because this could have been avoided. You'll have to ask Bill Manning why it's not avoided. It's just disappointing, I'm just disappointed. We had a trainer here the last 3 yrs that's been helping me avoid muscle injuries. Because he's attached to Seba, he's not allowed in the club, which I think is ridiculous. Now this is what I'm faced with. Games of egos and that thing, hopefully he can put his ego aside and I can get the guy that's kept me healthy, kept Michael healthy, kept a bunch of the guys healthy, and we can make things move forward. >In a sudden escalation of a long simmering feud, Relevent Sports sued USSF in NY State Court today, claiming USSF has a conflict of interest in sanctioning professional matches. >Relevent Sports is a promoter of the International Champions Cup tournament, but has spent months trying to bring a competitive match to the United States. Thwarted in its efforts to bring La Liga match to America, Relevent’s latest attempt is an Ecuadorean game scheduled for May 5 in Miami. >Relevent has the approval from both Ecuador and Conmebol, but USSF has refused to sanction the game. >USSF has the authority to sanction all professional soccer matches played in the country. It is also allowed to collect sanctioning fees, which can be quite lucrative. >According to the lawsuit, in the last six years Relevent has paid U.S. Soccer approximately $19.5 million for the right to host its summer tournament and other matches. >But USSF has chosen not to sanction the Ecuadorian match by questioning whether Charlie Stillitano, the chairman of Relevent Sports, is a properly certified and insured FIFA match agent. Relevent says it presented U.S. Soccer with a copy of Stillitano’s insurance policy, and an email from FIFA confirming he is.
Noah Foster
>Relevent contends the decision is part of a proxy fight between Relevent and SUM >SUM is the powerful, and profitable, marketing arm of MLS. But it also is a critical business partner to U.S. Soccer, paying the federation $30 million annually for its commercial rights to most United States national team telecasts, the commercial interests of the Mexican national team within the United States, and is a marketing partner of Conmebol and Concacaf >In essence, then, Relevent and SUM are the two biggest promoters of soccer games in America, and Relevent is accusing U.S. Soccer — by blocking its game but not any organized by SUM — of putting its thumb on the scale in favor of a partner. >Critics have raised questions about conflicts of interest between SUM, M.L.S. and U.S. Soccer for years. For example, Don Garber, the commissioner of M.L.S., is also the chief executive of SUM and a member of U.S. Soccer’s board of directors. >The U.S. Soccer policy manual states that international matches should be sanctioned unless there is “clear and convincing evidence” that they would be “detrimental to the best interest of the sport.” Relevent argues in the lawsuit that U.S. Soccer must be placing “the economic interest of a select group of its members over its statutorily-mandated purpose.”
>It is also far from the only lawsuit U.S. Soccer is facing. Besides the gender discrimination suit involving the women’s national team and a similar case filed by the former goalkeeper Hope Solo, there is also an antitrust suit filed by the North American Soccer League and a trademark dispute with the United States Soccer Federation Foundation. There is also a claim in front of the Court of Arbitration for Sport asking U.S. Soccer to compel MLS to institute a system of promotion and relegation.
