I unironically would love Shannon Briggs to step up, either 1. we would get to see him fight AJ or 2. he fails the drug test himself utterly destroying AJ's America debut lol

>I think he’s an outstanding talent. He’s not as good as they make him out to be, though. He’s not better than Terence Crawford. The kid has gotten a lot of exposure. People know who he is and they can make that fight tomorrow. But guess what? They didn’t get this far and become as good as they have been in the sport by making bad decisions. There’s no doubt in my mind that they feel Lopez will beat Lomachenko – no doubt in my mind. I don’t give a sh*t if he’s got 12 fights. With his style, he beats Lomachenko. It ain’t about that kid [Lomachenko] having 400 [amateur] fights and all of that. [Lopez] beats his ass. That’s why the conversation is deflected to other things. >They should keep Gervonta Davis’ name out of their mouths. They’ve got a good fight that they can make in house. All they’ve gotta do is talk to the kid and his team, and talk to Lomachenko and his team. They all have the same promoter. Why are they talking about Gervonta Davis?
Miller just pissed away $5m. And a probable $2m in the follow-up fight with Whyte or Chisora. If I were him I'd be considering suicide.

Gervonta criticism is such bulls hit. They're not even fighting in the same division and people are still giving him shit for not fighting a guy on a different network.
Leo Nguyen
He doesn't want Whyte to fight Joshua, they have a fight agreed for him and they're only waiting on the WBC to come back with their ruling who are being deliberately slow in the hope they'll announce the fight before they have to concede an interim belt or final eliminator. Whyte was the one putting his name forward but he was complaining about preparation time before and this even less time so he's just doing it to say "I would have fought him"
Ortiz and Kownacki both don't like the late notice and Haymon also isn't going to want them doing it as they're potential in house opponents for Wilder.
Gervonta isnt fighting guys in his own division anyway. And Loma only moved up cause he was being ducked from everyone
Hunter Ortiz

They should take them off before they square up. In my day they asked each other to fight and removed the necessary equipment before they squared up. Now they just pounce on each other.

Fighting is dead in hockey. On the off chance one does actually does start the refs either step in and Stop it before the gloves come off or the gloves do come off but one guy really doesn't want it so he tackles his opponent and it's over. It's rare these days to have two guys who actually want to fight and are allowed too and even then it's sloppy as hell
Enforcer used to be an official because of guys like this
The point of hockey is to score goals but if all your goal scorers are getting flat lined you can't win. Historically imminent violent reprisal was an important and celebrated part of the game hasn't been that way for awhile tho
I’d infer that heavyweights, especially older ones do need longer because they probably need a long time to prepare. Even if there’s no weight cutting, they can’t carry blubber in the ring and they probably balloon up in between fights because they’re naturally big dudes and don’t worry about cutting. I don’t think guys like Whyte or Ortiz should be shamed for turning it down. Miller should be blamed and we’ll just watch Michael Hunter get knocked out in the eighth round.
Don't forget us when you become the undisputed women's boxing champion
Brody James
what's the worst casual opinion on boxing you've heard irl? twitter mongs don't count
Nathaniel Cooper
99% of boxers balloon up between fights but they have to make weight even when they are old. Heavyweights don't need a longer camp, Steve Kim is right
Eli Gray
How much of a camp is technique regiment versus weight loss/conditioning for non heavyweights? I know heavyweights don’t need to cut but most of them clearly lose a fair amount of weight during camp which improves performance. Plus we are talking about fighting Joshua, who isn’t exactly a technician, but is a champion and requires actual preparation. This is why the only top level guy desperate enough to accept the fight is Ortiz. Expect Hunter.
Ayden White
i believe u king !!!!
Joshua Lee
Stop with the bs. 5M for 7 week notice is a shit tons of money, whoever doesn't take it is a pussy. If they lose a lot of weight is because heavyweight is full of fat ass bums, but otherwise it's plenty of time if you're a clean athlete. Steve Kim made a pretty good argument on Twitter: fights used to be announced much later in the past (around 2 months prior, not 3), partly because they were more active, but also because nowadays fighters needs extra weeks to cycle drugs before testing begins. I'd be fine with Hunter anyway.

Besides the part where ufc fans are watching boxing now, most is bs. Only Eastern European with a mainstream following is Lomachenko because of his style, but it's not like he'll make ppv money without any major star
Kovalev flopped on ppv, Golovkin did okay, but it was only 4 ppvs, and two were against Canelo, the box office star and Usyk won't make big bucks here

Ask any zoomer today and if you're lucky they know Floyd Mayweather.

No. Americans care about Americans same as everywhere cares about their own fighters and playing to the home market, Eastern Euros don't sell. Boxing opened up more and the US lost it's grip as a result, 1 American won Ring fighter of the year this decade
>George Foreman - Heavyweight Gold medalist - 76 - 5 (68 by knockout) - K.O'ed fighters like Joe Frazier and Ken Norton as if they were children - Oldest heavyweight champion in the history of boxing - Probably the hardest puncher ever - Healthy and strong as a bull at 70 years of age - George Foreman Grill - Second richest boxer after Floyd Mayweather - True and proud American - Christpilled - Loved by everyone nowadays
>Moohamad Ali - Stolen Light (lel) "Heavyweight" medal which actual belongs to a Polak - cucked by mooslims and actually changed his name to "Muhammad Ali" lmfao - 56–5 excluding robberies - lost to Frazier and fought life and death against a post Foreman Frazier - basically was a piece of shit who even made Joe Frazier's children suffer because of his racial insecurities - lost all 3 fights to Ken Norton but robbed him twice - Self hating non-American who shook the hand of dictators like Saddam Hussein - constantly was short of money - already a completely disabled person with an undignified appearance by the age of 50 - died broke and sickly
He's completely right. Boxers like Lomachenko and Golovkin (And even Tyson Fury) got a lot a lot of spill-over from the MMA world. In MMA circles online I see Lomachenko and GGG talked about anytime Boxing is mentioned, everytime one of them fights, I see MMA forums talking about it.
The spill-over hasn't been exclusively for white fighters though. Wilder absorbed some of that popularity from MMA casuals wanting to watch a big white boy fight him, and as such they know his name now too. They don't like him, but they know him, and now they're probably going to tune in to see him lose when they can.
Guys were more active in the past so they didn’t need more time to get in shape. I think it’s unfair to expect guys like Kownacki or Whyte who are going to be mandatories soon to take a fight on short notice and risk getting murked. Miller should be blamed and Hunter is the best we can hope for. It’s a shit situation. This year has been awful for boxing.
Ian Scott

Are you asking why a fighter in line for a mandatory should fight the unified HW champion and biggest payday in the sport? Thats exactly why a fighter tries to become the mandatory in the first place! The entire division should be jumping at the chance
Julian Robinson
Foreman's boxing was ugly as fuck. That alone disqualifies him from any GOAT awards.
Why do fags keep spewing this garbage? MMA practitioners have always watched boxing, especially exciting fighters like Pacquiao. Lame Mayweather and giant but boring Klitschko killed boxing for the casual fans. That had nothing to do with race or MMA popularity.
American boxers are 70/30% black and Mexican and white western euro fighters mostly suck.
Eastern Europeans have the perfect combination of being poor and hungry and having unique fighting styles with a lot of amateur experience.
Cuban fighters have unique-to-them boxing, PRs, Eastern Euros and even some Irishmen and UK styles are unique. American boxing is shit right now, probably because nobody enters the amateurs anymore, so they're full of ugly Wilder/Tanks and boring ass shoulder rolling Mayweather wannabes.
Even Crawford, who I like, boxes ugly as shit. At least he's exciting, though.
Eli Rodriguez
kek mayweather was and still is a way bigger star than pacquiao ever was.

Sorry, I meant American boxing STYLE is shit right now.
Obviously there are good American fighters but i think most of them get away with slop because of reaction speed and/or power. Fighters rather than boxers, in a sense.
To be fair Klitschko probably had the most technically perfect in-and-out 1-2 of all time, and he was boring to casuals, too. But he didn't have much else in his arsenal so had to clinch constantly
Samuel Jackson
Not MMA practitioners you stupid fucking ledditor. I said MMA circles online, not MMA fighters, not MMA champions, i'm talking about MMA fans and their unhealthy obsession with guys like Lomachenko and Golovkin.
Now fuck off back to /r/boxing and learn some reading comprehension.

People tuned in to see him get wrecked, that's it. Every single casual after ever single Mayweather fight said >This is why boxing is doing >This is why I stopped watching boxing >This was boring as fuck why did I waste my time
I'M not saying I agree, but his cherry picking, rule exploiting, and overly safe style pushed casuals away from boxing in the 2000s.

Sure, Vit was great... But I meant big Klitschko. His pawing jab was followed by a perfect step in stiff jab and then a perfect cross or overhand. His in and out movement was great. It's the wrestling and hugging for 8 rounds that was the boring and shit part.

Any card Hearn is involved with is terrible. 80,000 people in wembley and chief support was Luke Campbell vs some bin man.
Easton Johnson
He's tested 2 to 3 times a week by VADA for 12 weeks before a fight
Ethan Jones
It's weird seeing terms like "gazelle punch" out on YouTube and on forums and shit considering an anime invented it. Same with Philly Shell. EA sports made that shit up.
Brayden Harris
Yvan Mendy was a final eliminator for the WBC and he'd previously beaten Campbell
Adrian Rodriguez
You don't use test during fight camps brah. It's for off season training. Certain esters clear after 1 week. Clen, which sucks, is gone after 4 days.
Jason Harris
Are you seriously arguing that fight deserved to be chief support to a title fight at wembley?
James Brooks
Not to mention the GOOD shit, like human growth hormone and IGF is only detectable in blood and even then it clears after 36ish hours.
Most boxing testing is urine.
Nicholas Myers
MMA in the UK is rife with ped's, they hardly even test in most of the promotions here.
Jeremiah Carter
It really boggles my mind that people believe athletes who are paid to be the best in the world are too moral to use PEDs. Almost every single athlete from every major sport is using something or has used something to get to a specific size/weight/strength.
All the budget for a fight like that in the UK goes into the main event. The ticket seller is Joshua, he does not want to give up more of his own purse to fund fights that make no difference to PPV sales. Boxing doesn't work like that. This was the undercard for Klitschko vs Fury boxrec.com/en/event/721333
Michael Jones
Both terms existed before ippo and ea. Floyd patterson literally called it the gazelle punch himself
Ayden Richardson
And why would they? Ignore the health and criminal aspects of it and it's simply using the best science and technology available to improve your performance.
If my family and livelihood depended on elite tier performance at my job, I'd be popping Adderall and nootropics all day long.
Daniel Robinson
it's funny, it was more the psychological and social fulfillment that got me into boxing. it was like, all those masculine emotions of conquest and devotion, typically wasted on whores and cunts finally had a place where there was a true reward. hajime no ippo saved my damn life.
Jace Lee
Exactly. I love how people point the finger at fighters and call them drug cheats when they get caught when in reality 80% are on or have been on something.
Adrian Long
Prove it. And EA 100% coined Philly shell. It isn't even from Philly, it originates out of Detroit and has it's origins in old school crab stance.
Ethan Sanchez
True! My friend fought in KSW and he was on 7iu of hgh a day, about a gram of test a week and 600mg masteron, lol.
Jackson Gonzalez
>brah Swear people on /fit/ and the misc use to say this 10+ years ago. He's not running bodybuilding cycles whilst being tested by VADA and that's why he's not failing.
Kevin Richardson
Here's a book written by patterson where he talks about using the gazelle punch. He died before ippo was released
I feel you. I was already into MAs and saw Ippo for the first time when I was mid 20s. Really sparked the fighting bug for me and got me more excited about training again
William Gray
Reminder that Marciano would kill any active heavyweight today.
Wrong. Most fighters just switch from test e or cyp to prop nearing a fight, as it's out of your system fast.
Nathaniel Murphy
Not saying he didn't call it that but he died in 2006, Ippo started in 1989
Justin Diaz
VADA can test anytime of the day or night, if you are using testosterone enanthate and your test ratio is out it's going to show. You have to be really stupid, like Miller
Michael Garcia
the kid was just so good, worked hard for his ma, found friendship with his seemingly ultimate tormentors, and gained in his pursuit of true strength. I think boxing in the right scenario can really teach a boy how to be a man. i'm not pretending everyone can be a champ, but boxing can pull a nigga out of the gutter if you catch him early enough, and that's fuckin saying something.
i love boxing. you guys are all great, because you love boxing too. you can feel all the work in every punch because every one of you have hit that bag, and felt your own power, and known that you can get stronger. not to fight chumps on the street but to go against a man just like you.
Oliver Garcia
Damn I thought he died much younger. Regardless, this book was written in the 70's by patterson.
Ayden Young
Not all fighters are enrolled on VADA.

Jack Wright
Marciano unironically would’ve been able to cut down to 175 today and fight at light heavyweight

True. I suspect he uses HGH(in large doses)

this. half of the reason miller went down the wba route was to duck the clean boxing program

That edition was republished in 2007. It was republished in 2014 too. The book is from the 70's. Who cares if ippo "popularized" the name. It's literally the name of the punch straight from the creator.
Dempsey roll I get because its a term dempsey never came up with but it still refers to the style of attack he used. I doubt Ali actually came up with name Ali shuffle

And I wish I could find a PDF online. The fucking Chinese fake ebook sites are all I can ever find.
Liam Evans
Are the Matchroom brainlets here relieved that Eddie bribed Vada to save Lil G String?
Aaron Peterson
More than relieved it gives them a reason to discount miller. If miller actually had success against Joshua it would look terrible for him. Now they also have an excuse for Joshua taking a bum fight even though miller is a bum himself
Samuel Cooper
I'm not happy because now we won't get to see Miller's unconscious body sprawled out on the canvas and instead we have to put up with unfunny Miller posting for longer.
Jason Baker
I just hope he gets exposed by kabayel or someone in this debut
David White
I’m just glad something’s livened up the long and tedious buildup to this fight
Asher Reed
>WBO president Paco Valcarcel has now confirmed that the purse bid for Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde has been cancelled as the parties agreed terms to fight in Russia. Frank Warren expects an announcement within the next week. [@RSportRu, @talkSPORT]
Holy fuck this fight is actually happening LMAO
William Morris
Yarde's getting stopped in front of a sold out Russian crowd
Lincoln Ortiz
I told everyone, this is their only option to cash out. Of course they’re going to take the fight.
Levi Myers
Cant wait for all the Brits to suddenly become lifelong yarde fans when he wins
Anthony Hughes

Why is Lennox Lewis not considered the best HW of all time when he is?

Ortiz beats AJ. Been saying this for a while. I hope this fight happens.
Hudson Green
Because everybody hated him
Eli Jones
>I've never seen or heard it used, ever, pre-Ippo. I do wonder when the term the "Gazelle Punch" was coined. Ashita no Joe mentions it, and it ran in the 60's, not too far off from Patterson's reign, but it mentions it as the "Kangaroo Punch". I wonder if that was a mistranslation that Morikawa later corrected.
Could be. Is that the direct translation from Japanese? I can read Japanese if you have the original manga page.
Like I said earlier, I can admit that I'm possibly wrong, but the term was incredibly obscure up until Ippo. And you'd think it'd be more popular considering Tyson was also a student of Damato and used the same technique.
David Carter
Frank Warren is making funeral arrangements for Yarde as we speak.
Joshua Smith
I don't have the raw version unfortunately, just the scanlation.

How did drug testing become a thing in boxing? Anybody know the history of it?
Aiden Wright
Dumbass. He could've taken over the Cruiserweight division but now he's gonna be a gatekeeper for the heavyweights.
Jaxon Allen
He would've taken over cruiserweight as clearly second fiddle
Noah Ortiz
He already was #2. Had nothing left to prove as the guy who beat him left the division. Nobody else in the division beats him

Is this "meme" in the scientific sense? Something that carries popular cultural significance and is virally transferred from individual to individual through mimicry and/or imitation?
Or do you mean >meme? Something that Yea Forums created that twisted the original meaning to something along the lines of >Ineffective bullshit; snake oil; trendy gimmick
If the former, yes. Latter, no.
Lucas Perez
Agree. Wilder was more dangerous because he's a one ounch ko artist so an improperly timed counter would fuck him. Joshua has a weaker chin and doesnt pose as much of a threat. Hes more conventional fighter meaning he's easier to predict
Holy shit is Charles Martin going to get his revenge? Is Shannon going to finally become CHAMP again.
Ultra hype video t.b.h.
Jaxson Wilson
Almost every round of that fight was close lebedev was doing slightly better work before he got dropped and then Gassiev was slightly better after. Not a robbery by any means
Christian Lopez
boxing247.com/boxing-news/johann-duhaupas-gives-his-take-on-jarrell-millers-positive-test-on-equal-terms-i-would-have-beaten-him >“In our fight, I found that Miller lacked cardio fitness due to his weight. My strategy was to make his punch output drop after the sixth [round] but he surprised me by staying in shape [in the fight]. He only dropped [his pace and output] in the tenth. So I know today that he could be helped by this stuff. On equal terms, I would have beaten him. Now, after what happened, my future in boxing is uncertain.”
Bentley Reyes
Without the super series there's no hype in cruiser. The top guys have already fought. Better that he adjusts now than have to rush like usuk
Jaxson Stewart
even wilder was calling him out saying his stamina was suspect for a guy of his size. seems like he's been doing it for most of his career, and if he hasn't, he apparently didnt need the edge

No, scientist.

>Dumbass if he only were as smart as you are... wait..
Briedis put on a better performance against Usyk than Gassiev did.
Mason Miller
Michael Hunter is good value to be Joshua's next opponent on Sky bet, was 2/1 now 7/4 (2.75)
Ortiz - Haymon won't let him Kownacki - Haymon won't let him, ruled himself out using time as an excuse (fighting Wilder end of the year) Parker - No good for US market Whyte - Has a fight agreed for July, almost certainly Povetkin, the WBC are just busting their balls so can't announce Chisora - No good for US market, probably wouldn't get a visa Charr - Can't sell that on Sky and Eddie is using that to soften the blow of it being Hunter Usyk - Fight scheduled and will fight Joshua end of the year
Julian Ward
You guys wear socks with your boxing shoes?
Normal cotton ones are fucking with my toes

I understand the stoppage. Still undecided if I agree with it.

i got an old onahole, shaved the outside so that it was thinner and wore it like a sock I only had one but godamn did it feel nice
Jack Martin
>Ortiz - Haymon won't let him Hearn won't pick him* Haymon is a convenient boogeyman and cop out. If you're going to invoke the Al Haymon card, explain why it is Haymon won't let a fighter do something.
Jonathan Stewart
What legitimate answer do you expect? Posters here are acting as if that since Steve Kim, the top rank shill, said a month wasn't too short then it doesn't matter.
Matchroom threw out half of those namss knowing they would never agree, just to cover their asses when they chose a bum. Arum did that same thing with Crawford and Khan, throwing out a bogus offer to danny garcia knowing it wouldnt be accepted
Owen Baker
Get a clue. Ortiz is an in house option for Wilder after Kownacki and they have the draw bridge up to ALL fights. They will not help DAZN. Lance Pugmire talked to two people associated with PBC today about and what are they saying? Oh we'll make $4 million back another way
Why the fuck would Wilder fight him again, the first one wasn't a close decision
Hudson Hughes
I already told you why, he's in house. After Kownacki and Breazeale who do they have? They have to have back up options so they're not cornered and pushed into a fight with Joshua or Fury on bad terms if negotiations break down, it's leverage.
Joseph Campbell
Did you read that tweet lmao? Get your eyes checked
Luis Hughes
Ortiz would have no problem collecting the $4 million plus he would be LOSING by NOT jumping on a Anthony Joshua fight. Meaning he will make $4 million over 2 other fights with PBC. Connect some brain cells you fucking ape.
Wyatt Parker
AJ is a bum
Ryan Gomez
One thing's for sure Luis Ortiz never gets to call himself or allow himself to be called the Boogeyman of the HW division, what a duck
Jason Collins
That's not what the tweet says dummy. Stop inserting your own narrative
Julian Thompson
You are underestimating Gassiev here, the guy has ridiculous power in his hands. He struggled at times against Dorticos and Usyk was obviously too fast on his feet for him, but these heavyweights will be slower.
Adam Morris
You're overestimating if anything. The Usyk fight utterly exposed him. Nobody who loses 12 whole rounds against any fighter can every amount to anything special. I highly doubt Gassiev hits harder than Joshua or Wilder. The best Gassiev can do is beat Whyte but that's it.
Liam Morales
Here's the follow up tweet spacker, if you still can't understand the context just neck yourself
Who in the Heavyweight division fights anywhere near the skill level of Usyk? I think you'll be surprised.
Kayden Butler
It doesn't matter. His performance against Usyk was desperate. Do you honestly think Joshua would lose 12 rounds against him? I'm not slating Gassiev, I think he could be the number 1 cruiserweight if he stayed there but he has absolutely no business at Heavyweight. He's not slick enough to beat Usyk or Fury and he doesn't have enough skill or power to beat Joshua. He might be able to beat Wilder but that's not saying much honestly since Wilder is such a shit boxer than anyone can beat him if they avoid his power punches for 12 rounds. And Wilder is 33 years old, he'll cash out before Gassiev gets the chance to fight him.
He just has no place in the division.
Jose Torres
Canelo didn't amount to anything?
Hudson Hill
Beat smaller men and big bums. Robbed and aged out ggg, Lara and yes Austin trout. Toothpaste is right
Jayden Sanders
Hearn will definitely pick him. It's an easy win over a high-value name.
Eli Phillips
You could be right man, I guess time will tell. I think his problem at cruiser was he's quite a big guy, so he was struggling to make the weight. The glaring flaw I see is he's very stationary.
Chase Wood
no one cares though, people don't remember close decisions or robberies unless they're as blatant as the Lewis one. not disagreeing with you in regards to his talent, but the phrase 'amounts to somethings' denotes impact, legacy, etc not just talent.
Easton Bennett
Maybe if youre a spic
Elijah Morgan
So this shit Miller was popped for is cardarine. I remember when this shit first hit the market and guys on bodybuilding forums would tell me it's like 'cardio in a bottle'. There was a study done on rats where it grew cancerous tumours, so it was discontinued for medical research. Doesn't surprise me a guy with that physique would take something like that though..

>Canelo-Jacobs: Adalaide Byrd Included In NSAC's Judging Pool
>f you think the ludicrous scorecard Adalaide Byrd submitted for the first Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin fight would have eliminated her from consideration for judging another Alvarez fight, guess again.
BoxingScene.com has learned that Byrd was included in the pool of potential judges Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett sent recently to representatives for Daniel Jacobs and Alvarez. Brooklyn’s Jacobs (35-2, 29 KOs) has been very open since signing to box Alvarez (51-1-2, 35 KOs) about the urgent need for the most competent group of judges possible to score their middleweight title unification match May 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
why is this allowed
Jayden Sanders
are you hot?
Benjamin Anderson
Tio Oscar can't risk losing his cash cow. Basically confirms Jacobs is going to get robbed blind regardless of any performance apart from a straight up KO which is highly unlikely
Josiah Garcia
Jacobs can spark him clean out, and he'd still get a draw
Dylan Bailey
has there ever been a more detestable openly cheating bastard? He's so smug about it too. He got caught red handed roiding, he literally gets judges appointed and he just acts like its normal. Hard to root for this piece of shit. His fights aren't even exciting.
Asher Cooper
jacobs is a pussy. he ain't no killer.
Luis Lewis
nice, all we need now is CJ Ross
Tyler Kelly
Why don't boxing fans just refuse to pay for fights like these if the judges selected are garbage?
Not to mention the weight advantages (gomez, victor ortiz, josesito lopez, khan), killing a washed up sparring partner, picking a fight w/ a flyweight, ducking GGG in his prime by pretending he wasn't a middleweight. Lol this guy is a disgrace.
Oh and he got handed his titles vs. bums.
Anthony Thompson
Golovtards stay crying Canelo is going to win again and you'll all be seething, again.
>people still aint certain he beat Lebedev Only brainlets think moorat lost
Anthony Lopez
Yeah but they do so under the assumption that they’ll get a full camp to prepare. If you take it on short notice and get splattered in the 3rd round, then you have to repeat the climb up again. I don’t think it’s fair to shame someone for turning it down. As I’ve said, this is Miller’s fault and Hearn will float Charr’s name so we can be relieved that Hunter is chosen.
William Turner
A full camp? There is nothing special to prepare for. Anthony Joshua isn't some rangy back foot southpaw. If you aren't ready after 7 weeks for Joshua you'll never be ready. Not like hws have weight to cut either, call it what it is sexpat, this is a duck by a lot of the contenders in the division. It used to be fighters would avoid no name weird fighters with difficult to prepare for styles but now haymon fighters are avoiding the biggest fights of their careers
Isaac Ortiz
Hunter is a great fighter and one of the toughest guys Usyk has fought so far, but he shouldn't be fighting at heavyweight..
Evan Brown
Yeah he's like 5'4"
Nicholas Perry
Yeah, but the money is so different there. I can never blame a fighter for going up in weight and giving the heavies a shot
Also I rewatched khan-canelo. Khan has shockingly bad footwork for all the speed he possesses. Canelo isn't a super quick twitchy guy with his foot speed but his movement is purposeful and that's all he really needed to take the fight to khan. I don't think khan could outbox Crawford if he tried even with his handspeed advantage (are we sure he still has even that), he just doesn't have sound fundamentals
Colton Walker
Or maybe you want to be in your best shape with the best preparation before you fight the champion in what could possibly be your only chance a title, you fucking entitled piece of shit.
I don't even like AJ but you sound like a god damn uneducated retard.
>Gib me my fights that I want NOW! I DON'T CARE IF IT RUINS SOMEONE'S CAREER AND LIVELIHOOD >:( >:(
Brandon Russell
What's the point of even being a boxing fan if you don't want to see the best fight the best? Why make excuses for these guys? Are you on a fucking payroll?
Dominic Hughes
Q from a former fan who lost interest years ago:
Is Anthony Joshua the best heavyweight? How does he rank against former greats?
Ethan Scott
>best heavyweight Hard to say. I reckon he'd get slept by Wilder. >How does he rank against former greats? Well he almost got knocked out by a 40-year old Wlad coming off a loss. I'd say he gets blasted by just about any lineal HW champ of the past.
Jonathan Hall
>Is Anthony Joshua the best heavyweight? Yes, anyone who says it different is a contrarian >How does he rank against former greats? A little early to start asking that, he has a lot of career left. He already has a better resumé than Mike Tyson though
Tyler Morales
I believe Wilder would beat him convincingly but not easily. Like the other guy mentioned, he got put on his bum by Klitschko. Personally, I think Klitschko is the GOAT so I may be biased but AJ is not TBE. I'd give him top 5.
Kayden Torres
>Is Anthony Joshua the best heavyweight? that would be tyson fury. fury will unify the division eventually.
>How does he rank against former greats? ask this question in 5 years time
Ayden Bell
Teddy Atlas said GGG is overrated and his KO record is full of bums and he shouldn't have had a close fight with Jacobs if he was any good. And now Canelo is an established MW he'd lose the 3rd fight.
Thoughts?
Leo Rivera
are you hot?
Levi Roberts
We're just joking around we know. I would impregnate his boipussy tho
Lucas Taylor
Imagine being this large a human being and covering professional sport as a career.
It will be endlessly funny if charlo ends up losing again to tony the tiger after the WBC ordered a rematch
Elijah Jackson
>already has a better resumé than Mike Tyson though
Um...no. no he does not.
Owen Martin
AJ is the most popular with normies, and by far the prettiest. Boxing is often like rock paper scissors (styles make fights etc...), so best is hard to determine.
Jackson Foster
AJ is a bum. Gets windmilled by Wilder or jabbed to a UD by Fury.
Jayden Russell
Klitschko is a better win than anyone on Tyson's resume
Matthew Walker
I mean, no. This doesn't agree with reality.
Oliver Nguyen
Joshua is a bum that's being protected -- a brand, if you will. The protection is working, obviously. He gets praised to high heaven for being a 41 year old Klitschko that dropped him, and has been living off that win for the past 2 years, despite the fact that Fury beat Klitschko 2 years earlier in a much more dominant fashion.
Wilder knocks him out cold, Fury decisions him. All of the top 3 Heavyweights beat most Heavyweights in history based on size alone, but in terms of accomplishments they haven't come close to being compared to the greats yet.
Jaxon Ross
*gets knocked down and outboxed by a 41 year old coming off a loss and 2 year layoff*
broner has to be one of the worst managed fighters in recent time. not that he was great or anything but he was successfully dominating people at 130 due to being a weight bully. then they just move him up super fast to 147 so he can fight a fat guy with power and a chin? crazy decision. they managed to lose all of the massive hype that had been created around broner (based largely on stupid wins)
and would have been KO'ed if vlad had gone for it after the knockdown. why did big baby have to take away what could have been?
Damn he really wants to duck Kell Brook till the end
Bentley Lewis
Brook put himself up to fight Crawford next so if Khan isn't getting that payday no other fights are going to be worthwhile on the back of a loss
Parker Cruz
Give your prediction for Crawford/Khan PPV, /box/: more or less than Spence-Garcia (375k)? I say slightly more
Easton Gutierrez
700
Sebastian Mitchell
Khan isn't perceived as a threat, less of a story than Mikey Garcia even if it was phony, Crawford's not a big star. 300k
Cooper Nelson
I think Crawford is a bigger star than people think, his shows on ESPN have had very good numbers and although Khan is not perceived a threat this may not be the casual's perception. Also I believe a lot of people in Nebraska will buy it, he's a star there because they dont have any major sport to root for
James Taylor
Until he fights all the other top guys we won't know. He's not complete shite though, the guy is fairly fast for a big lad. He has some defensive holes though and his footwork isn't the best, which leads me to believe Fury would probably beat him. If Usyk fights Joshua I'm dropping money on Usyk to beat him by decision. I'll just put my pie and birds fund on it and eat beans that week.
Andrew Sanchez
Crawford by knockout in round 5. Khan will drop his left hand and get countered.
Nathaniel Lopez
I want to see the best fight the best, but it spoils the fight if the perception that one guy didn’t get a full camp lingers. Everyone waxes about ‘the olden days’ of boxing like Nestor in the Iliad. Is this also the same period where guys fought plumbers once a month and the mob fixed fights? You’re honestly a brainlet if you think you can get away with less than a full camp and beat a unified champion.
Luis Smith
300k would be a great number. If it does over 200k I will be impressed. There's been no build at all.
Camden Taylor
AJ is a bitch ass nigga, he's scared of klitschkos incoming left hook, so he lays on the ground instead of standing and fighting like a warrior
James Hernandez
would you r8 AJ if he beats ortiz? or would it be more excuses like >wilders leftovers >he's 73 years old
Jacob Flores
he already has better wins than Ortiz but it would be a good name
Carson James
Klitschko and Holmes are on the same level of win. Both greats past their prime But still got a lil left, only Tyson finished it in 4 rounds and AJ nearly got knocked out
Ryan Turner
New BLTV video is dropping today bros. Get hype.
Jack Gutierrez
Lol this video is gold, especially the part about Frank Maloney
Brayden Taylor
After Tyson, Holmes beat Mercer and gave Holyfield a hell of a good fight. Holmes was past it, but the version he beat was much springer than the Wlad Joshua beat.
Dominic Wright
>Oliver McCall won a fight last November
Lol
Cooper Watson
It would be a credible win he's still a durable 6'4 experienced boxer but it's not seriously going to happen. Jay Jimenez, Espinoza both indicated as much.
Lincoln Gray
>broner has to be one of the worst managed fighters in recent time I'd argue that he's very well managed. After all those embarrassing losses and arrests he still manages to get big fights and big paydays and sell alot of tickets
Kayden Cooper
Teddy is weird
He's obviously experienced, semi-intelligent and knows his shit, but he's also unhinged at times and a giant attention whore.
He also talks mad shit about people he doesn't like, is full of hyperbole and over-exaggerations, and has an arrogance that borders on cringe.
Having said that, he might be right in this case but I would never listen to him when it comes to shit like that. Boxing history, technique, strategy etc? Definitely. Wild speculation? Nah
Angel King
Ortiz might edge out AJ in terms of technical skill (only barely) but he doesn't have the power or size against AJ.
Sure, he got rocked by Vlad but people don't realize just how massive of a man Klitschko is and how perfect his jab-cross is. He can really throw his weight around.
Wilder is the worst of the bunch in terms of technique and Ortiz still had problems dealing with his reach.
These giant HWs like Fury, Vlad, AJ etc get by on size alone a lot of the time. The main challenges they'll face are against other giants.
Julian Gutierrez
Plus refs don’t let guys fight inside like they used to. The reffing for the Parker Joshua fight was shit. Imagine Durán trying to compete during this era.
Andrew Butler
>british journeymen get 10 bills for 4 rounds work why aren't you a journeyman
Lucas Morales
Does anyone have a stream link ahead of time?
Ayden King
Mark my words, Joshua won't fight Ortiz. It's too much heat regardless of age. They saw how Ortiz rocked Wilder. They don't want any of that. They will pick like the 13th or 14th ranked heavyweight right now. I don't even know who they are.
Aiden Smith
They need an Ortiz level name to save the show. They will try and get him.
Serious. What is with Khan dropping his guard mid rounds. Does he just lose stamina from his work in early rounds?
David Lopez
AJ is like 1-2 inches taller and not bigger in size at all, it doesn't matter, I honestly think it's mostly a coincidence that the top 3 are over 6'5
James Taylor
cockyness
Tyler Robinson
new
Caleb Campbell
It is a coincidence in a sense. I'm not suggesting that only big dudes can be HWs. I'm just saying a 6'6 250+lbs RIPPED AJ is a big fucking load for a lot of guys. Maybe too much for a slightly lighter, slightly shorter, higher bodyfat guy like Ortiz, all other things being equal.
But other things aren't equal so we'll see. If size and reach play no part in it, it'll come down to age, how AJ deals with a southpaw, and stamina. Like I said, I think AJ doesn't have as much technical skill, but his athleticism would give him the edge, regardless.
