And they only won because Malmö rested their best players in order to win the league. That’s how relevant the European Cup was. Nobody gave a flying fuck about it until the 90’s when (Swedish) Uefa chief Lennart Johansson revamped the entire tournament into the Champions League. Any title counted before 92/93 is highly misleading since Uefa tournaments wasn’t that much of a deal pre 90’s.

Also, the number of teams in the EL group stages is reduced from 48 to 32.
So, instead of having 80 teams in group stages like we do now, starting from 2020 we'll get 96 teams in group stages.

The EL2 is going to be composed mostly of teams that reach the EL groups semi-reliably, along with a few outliners like lazio,villareal, feyenoord etc, and a few minnows that can't reach groups nowadays.
