GTA officially addresses the whole Nismo TV thing. Courtesy of google translate

>Some European drivers have stated through SNS etc. that it is disappointing that NISMO TV's English broadcast in Europe ended at the end of last year. I think that English broadcasts will be inevitable for globalization in the future, but what is the vision of GTA?

>Mr. Bando: From this time on, GTA's budget has set up an English commentary booth, etc., and has put in place a system capable of broadcasting in English. As for the right to broadcast the English commentary, Malaysia's Haro Sports (Note: I also will be promoting the SUPER GT Malaysia game scheduled for 2019) will purchase the foreign country's right to broadcast live broadcasts from the second round in Malaysia. Start. He also heard that Haro Sports will sell more about European operators in the future for broadcasting in Europe. Since it seems that the end of the broadcast on NISMO TV happened to coincide with the partnership with Haro Sports this time, it may seem that the broadcast has just disappeared, but it is not. It is in the form of thinking about global expansion in the future.

Attached: 007_o.jpg (800x533, 114K)

how do a participate?

doesn't make much sense but it is late and google isn't great

Basically they sold the rights to Haro Sports and its no longer their (GTA) call.

So what's happening with the pit stops and the driver change after this long red flag period? Do they maintain the rule of the 2/3 of the distance for that or is it something else?

lmao based keihin

no way they can penalize #17. The lead car was weaving and braked early, he could do nothing to avoid.

>develop new soft barriers

>rain at Monza for the Qualies for the Blancpain Endurance race

This is THE weekend trend I see.

Anything on?
F1 made me want to mckfucking fill myself

blancpain at monza is next in 4(?) hours

Besides the BES qualification at Monza right now, not so much besides there"s a red flag and it could be extended because it's raining. Hopefully they'll race """smoothly""" (lel Blancpain) this afternoon and that Indycar and MotoGP later tonight won't be ass.

stratch what I wrote about the red flag period, they just went back on the track.

Long Beach weather should be good. I think there is chance for rain in Austin though.

ELMS at Paul Ricard should be ~2 hours from now

>The SMP Ferrari driven by Miguel Molina is 6 seconds behind the Bortolotti's Lambo
????????
Combined times in rain was a mistake, meme and all that fun but 6 seconds behind the pole
-in Monza
-in rainy condtions
is fucking violent

WSBK race 1 from Assen in 25 mins
Bautista wins lol, he was fastest in the warmup

Well, first rule is: no shitting on the track, pit lane, or and of the service roads. Maybe one of the camps have a permit for that or something. Your garage should come equipped with a modern, western style toilet. Maybe you could ask for a SP? Might help you feel more at home! You could start practising with one of these bad boys. I bet if you told your senator or whatever you got over there that you want to start a national team they get you the four seater model at least. But don't let them bullshit you, go for at least eight!

ELMS is liv (or about to start), so is the GT4 race at Monza which is still under rainy conditions, on top of having a start under a safety car.

Attached: 1231148448.webm (1280x720, 2.93M)

monza also wet

Judging on how the qualies went, the race is going to be a fun wreckfest featuring some weird things like unexplainable gaps and tons of overtakings since a lot of favorites are starting from the back or at least in the middle of the pack

>this is what gets you essentially disqualified.

Nah, it reflects badly on them, at least, and not the anthem.

He could have been a legend, instead he's a chump.

Logano probably would have walled him but I bet it was a crew chief call because they had a great car and since Richmond's a playoff race. They will want to save that setup and come back in the fall. Troox is a massive carbabby but no point in fucking a setup when your car is good unless you have to.
Of course if the playoffs didn't exist. Logano would have walled him. There would be a massive pit brawl and salt would have been pouring out everywhere so thanks meme format.

thanks

Backpain has always been kino, lots of all pro driver lineups and massive grids

However coverage has a lot of "show this random guy driving around" due to the need to showcase the participation medal classes. The difference in production when they went to Japan for the IGTC was quite staggering.

Question to anons. Want something else to watch when F1 is not on. What’s good and who do I follow?

Literally anything else

IMSA, IndyCar, WEC, Super GT, MotoGP, Blancpain, NASCAR, WRC

IMSA, WEC, ELMS, Blancpain Endurance, IGTC, Super GT, Supercars, Moto GP, WRC, Indycar, WTCR.

dailysportscar.com/2019/04/16/2019-le-mans-24-hours-set-to-expand-to-62-car-entry.html

ovals were shit last season though.

superspeedways were bad but short oval and circuits were better, it was only the first year, give them time to improve

The 500 aero package last seaons was...interesting.

is he ok?

well, last year it was the hottest indy in history, so with the new aero and tyres there were a ton of unknowns, now with a year of experience the race should be better

He survived if i recall correctly.

Yeah it's Connor Cummins. Usually a few deaths per year at the Isle of Man TT though.

I think I recall a lot of drivers/engineers were saying the maximum rear wing setting was too low and hurt them in traffic as well. I wonder if anything will change for this year.

is he ok?

they added extra pieces to the front wing, not sure if they added to the rear wing too, also there's a new tyre compound to compensate for the lack of aero grip

speedcafe.com/2019/04/18/v8-turbos-a-consideration-in-engine-cost-saving-drive/
>Supercars may consider the introduction of V8 turbos as it looks to find way to cut engine costs and entice new manufacturers to the sport.
>Engines have emerged as the next item the series wishes to investigate with a view to reducing costs to make the championship more sustainable for teams.
>Reducing engine power slightly while adopting turbo technology could help in enticing new manufacturers to the sport, according to Seamer.

Attached: 1554154684392.jpg (1200x800, 170K)

Can a mechanical dude explain why adding something to an engine will help reduce the price of said engine please.

Thank you.

Attached: 1550645548554.jpg (1200x1600, 303K)

>“It’s a hard (horsepower) number to hit, too – if you ask Todd Kelly or some of the other guys that have brought in new engines, they’ll admit that hitting the number is not easy,” Seamer added.
It's easier to achieve hp with a turbo so that's probably one of the reasons.

Right, but if everyone can slap a turbo on for more power, what is it going to change? I guess there's a hp limit to the engines or something?

Yup.
thesupercarscollective.com/inside-supercars/v8-supercar-technical-specifications/

That makes sense, thanks.

So now I can see them shitting on the turbo's a few years down the road when a team or two manages to tweak them out better than anyone and dominate the same way triple 8 did with their dual spring set up they just shitcanned.

Attached: 1973 Ford Falcon GT Bathurst Pursuit Special.jpg (820x411, 217K)

I can see that happening especially when you start thinking about power delivery. A team that nails that could get a serious advantage.
The good thing this could bring is new manufacturers. I could see the likes of BMW just taking their GT3 or GTE engine if they are allowed to.

Pretty ironic how they're bitching about needing new manufacturers when they don't even have a single car maker down there anymore.

Sad, really.

BoP is some gay shit I tell you what, although man FIM sucks at it a lot less apparently. That or the Kawasaki contingency shits on Yamaha's in the US idk.

How the fuck is it that race cars were making over 600hp in the 60s but it's somehow too expensive for OEMs in 2019

>BoP is some gay shit
Can't argue against that, really.

in the 60s you basically just built the thing and magic things happen, now everything is way more expensive and complicated

But I mean how far up your own ass in corporate nonsense does someone have to be to go I KNOW, TURBOS, THAT'S HOW YOU MAKE THINGS CHEAPER when you could literally just take those snowflake 5L engines and switch to an OHV V8 displacement that actually still exists in the real world with the same power level and make everything blatantly, trivially cheaper.

>If you listen to an AMG going down Collins Street (in Melbourne), that’s a four-litre V8 twin-turbo
Yeah, a 4L V8TT, that's SPECIFICALLY NOT IN THEIR RACE CAR BECAUSE IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY OVER JUST USING A BIG FUCKING V8. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Attached: AMG-mecha1-1280x854.jpg (1280x854, 311K)

They already do run 5L OHV engines? Problem being that they have been over engineered to death.

If the goal is reducing costs then they should just run a spec engine like ARCA and the trucks do. The current engines already have little roadcar relevance.

>should just run a spec engine like ARCA and the trucks do.
I was surprised how well the /turnleft/ truck series ended up after they introduced the spec engine option for teams. Teams that ran them were not only still competitive, but they even spanked KBM trucks.

If overengineering is the problem than spec engines has proven to be a viable option that will help keep costs low and maintain competitiveness across the grid.

Nice find.

International streaming link: bathurst6hour.com.au/live

Coverage starts tomorrow mornin'.

I keep forgetting that it's this weekend.

I said to run bigger engines. You haven't been able to get a pushrod 302/305 in a production car since god knows when, GM's standard performance engine has been a 6.2 for a while now. Holden stopped selling the Commodore with one in favor of a 5.7L LS1 in 1999 and the Falcon's 5L Windsor was replaced by a 5.4 cammer in '03 and even then it was available as a 5.6 and normally a 5.8 in performance applications elsewhere. There's no reason for Supercars to not run at least 350-358 inch motors like stock cars if they're worried about the engines being overdeveloped, they would literally be cheaper to build than their current non-standard displacement even with a proportional power increase. This is why nuTrans-Am dropped its traditional 5L rules for SCCA GT1 rules and old style NASCAR based engines.

Even Nissan is running an ultra short stroke version of the VK56 that makes more power than the air restricted 5.6 did in the GT1 GT-R.

Packed schedule tomorrow on fanschoice.tv
Myrtle Beach, Berlin, Langley, Bowman Gray, Magic Valley and Meridian
Racing starts at 4 pm ET

Basically if your team does faster than a 2:35 on average you are allowed less and less fuel upon refueling. You are LITERALLY penalized for doing consistently fast laps.

I had heard y'all complaining about creventic lately, but I had no idea it was this bad.

Cool, I wondered where all the little guys went after the 12 hours went full GT3.

Penske, Ganassi, Andretti, and Rahal have all spoken in favor of ensuring Full Time rides can't be bumped.

They're okay with starting only 33 cars, as long as their cars are guaranteed a spot as though IMS fucking owes them, thereby privileging them above and beyond competitor pre-1996.

>"Catching Ducati this season is difficult," said Kawasaki race director Ichiro Yoda. "Their engine comes from the MotoGP World Championship, their whole package is from MotoGP. This is a MotoGP bike with Pirelli tires. Even if we were allowed to use concession parts, we would be limited. With the homologated concession parts we can not reach the performance of the Ducati. We would not be able to reach their speed. "

>You have to build a new bike for next year? Yoda: "Exactly, that's the solution. We have to become more competitive and think about a MotoGP-like bike. An extreme bike that we produce in limited numbers in series. For Kawasaki it is easy to build 500 such motorcycles. But I have doubts about this direction. Is this way right or not? For 2015, the costs have been reduced, thus the performance was less. From 2014 to 2015, the four-cylinder lost 20 hp - the performance of Ducati was then the same with the Twin.

>The Japanese continues: "Now Ducati has built a four-cylinder engine whose philosophy seems to be different from that of its competitors. Promoter Dorna has to rethink his philosophy. You have to think about which direction you want to go with your championship. Once they say that they want more motorcycles on the grid. Then they reduce the costs to relieve the private teams. And now everything has changed with the arrival of this Ducati. Should we follow the direction taken by Ducati, or should we stick to the original idea? In the history of the Superbike World Championship, the motorcycles were always based on standard machines, which were available at a reasonable price.

>What the other manufacturers just say behind closed doors: They consider the Ducati V4R subsidized, "a technically high-quality bike can not even build for 40,000, let alone sell," is heard.

tl;dr fuck Ducati and fuck Dorna. Production requirement going from 2000 to 1000 to 500 in two season was retarded.

>You have to think about which direction you want to go with your championship.
they already decided, they want ducati dominating like they used to and a spanish domination like in gp, dorna is not going to change shit

Also speaking of the V4R, Kyle Wyman's in MotoAmerica is faster than everything but the factory Yamahas and Suzukis and Gagne's BMW in the speed trap even though he has a stock motor with an exhaust and a half-assed ECU flash that doesn't even remove all the throttle restrictions, and they still need to modify the gas tank so he can tuck in better.

When it went from 2000 to 1000 the excuse was post-recession sales slumps and the suggestion was that even Honda was having trouble selling enough SP Fireblades. But even then it was too many for a small manufacturer like Bimota and I guess iffy for ones like Aprilia or MV Augusta. So there was some discussion how you make it attainable for small manufacturers but instead they just dropped the number in half for everyone again.

Oh yeah of course now that it's 500 Honda doesn't even use the SP but instead the even fancier SP2.

le eats the bones face

On the one hand F1 doesnt allow one off races which boosts prestige because you'll never have Scott Dixon try Monaco.

On the other hand, poor people like Pippa Mann will basically never stand a chance if the rule returns and she has to try extra hard to get a sponsor and all that (partly because she sucks).

Tough call. I think encouraging full season entries is good and i also enjoy Hinch getting BTFO.
So, dunno, glad its not my decision.

Bros, I love Blancpain but nobody fucking watches it. WTF. So depressing GT racing has no fans and no American cars.

Attached: M6 GT3 Blancpain.jpg (474x344, 30K)

they should do something like secure the entry for something like the top 9 in the championship or base it on qualy average or poles from the previous season or something like that, it's going to happend inevitably, thing is how much are they going to fuck'd up

>full season entries
Shouldn't have to qualify for a slot to race, but simply for what position on the grid, and if shit goes bad and they can't even do that, then they start at the back of the field.

Give priority to the full season guys and let the "one offs" compete for available slots.

If they can't keep their cars good enough to make the biggest race of the year why should they be allowed to be full time entries?

really nice battle for 2nd at the 24h

God I wish motorcycle endurance racing was a relevant motorsport outside of France and Suzuka. There's some places in the US that will occasionally run like 2 or 4 hour races rather than the usual 10-15 super sprint horse shit that most club racing is and the Daytona 200 has pit stops but race bikes with lights and all the kit are so fucking cool.

my local race track used to do 24 hour bike races up until the 90s

Welcome to murica where no one cares about motorsports except once per year in may for some reason.

you just gotta accept that racing was always a niche sport.

That's not true at all though, unless you mean to say there's a difference between a fad and mainstream. But even saying that racing managed to be relevant through multiple distinct periods.

NASCAR was already experimenting with the idea of adding more road courses to the schedule in the late 80's/early 90's but Speedway Inc won out and ruined the sport with cookie cutter tracks.

SAFETY CAR

NOOOOOOO

Okay how many Honda payed for these safety cars? so lucky lmao

not necessarily, they are nose to tail and there could be a 2 lap dash

Nah mate.
Honda had a fuel problem, not anymore. The entire strategy of Kawa was to outgas them.
Honda won 40secs in the 9' hours with the safety car.

They were very very lucky.

8 minute dash.

good race, hernandez a shit thought

That was great.

wonder what would have happened if there were no safety car

The 11 probably would have won with the rate he was catching the 111.

Decent number of people there.
Next EWC race is 11th of May at Slovakiaring.

It's a bit of a shame they didn't use these cameras during the race if they were in the bikes. Then again they might not be able to for some reason.

Attached: 1530754439401.png (1200x839, 1.06M)

they just record stuff, guess having onboard feed in bikes must be more expensive than for cars

Eh a car race at this level of exposure would be unlikely to have live onboards either. It's easy to put a camera somewhere but all the wireless transmission systems for the vehicles and track are expensive. That's what that weird black box on the tail of MotoGP bikes is, by the way. I guess that might be more expensive than a bigger antenna in a car.
live-production.tv/case-studies/sports/wireless-motogp.html

>I guess that might be more expensive than a bigger antenna in a car.
i remember that before 07 motogp had the helicopter picking up signals because the antennas were too small, and for comparison wsbk didn't get hd on boards until like 2015, motogp had them since 2012, and indycar implemented them back in 08, so it is more difficult and expensive to have cameras in a bike

I didn't know he was capable of growing facial hair.

Holy fug a video that actually reasonably clearly shows the old single curve Degner. Every other old video I've found they never had a camera at that turn, and I never even looked for 1987 because the track map websites have it being replaced by the new Degner by then.

Shit's nothing compared to the Suzuka song near the end, holy fug.

You know I make fun of American motorsport a lot but at least IndyCar doesn't have a laggy google hangouts stream for every race besides Indy.

It’s just so depressing. I watch alone, stands empty. Blancpain has kino races but nobody even knows it exists.

Love the cars, love the tracks. Sad

There were like 10k+ people watching Monza on GTWorld. I don't remember seeing numbers this size outside of the big races so i'd say it's growing slowly.

Its nice because it’s a wealthy sport with most viewers being $100k+ earners.

Indy and F1 aren’t even though F1 prêtends to be.

I wish Blancpain had more races. Just a few US tracks to round it out. I like IMSA but it’s hard to follow every race

What was the stream quality like?

i want to see tourism cars racing. what should i see?

>Just a few US tracks to round it out
It's a fucking regional series. Blancpain America exists for a reason.
Good. 1080p and good bitrate.
youtube.com/watch?v=mTgffcWqwes
WTCR, Supercars, BTCC. I have yet to see the first Stock car Brasil race but that might be good aswell. You also have TC2000 over there but i have yet to see a race so i can't say anything about it.

Y'all got some series down there in Brazil that run touring cars. Supercars is a good series we follow on the reg you might like, and then there's DTM that some go for.

I need more racing series that allow contact like >/turnleft/. Refcar giving out 300 second penalties for touching another car triggers my autism.

What should I watch?

What if you want the season to last longer with the same teams and drivers and also to see them on more tracks?

Blancpain US is basically IMSA feeder series not really the equivalent imo

wat

i want to se bmw against porches and that kind of stuff

Touring Cars altough they can still give penalties depending on the situation.
>What if you want the season to last longer with the same teams and drivers and also to see them on more tracks?
Increase the amount of tracks on the schedule. The probability of that happening is pretty much 0 tough.
>Blancpain US is basically IMSA feeder series not really the equivalent imo
Blancpain US is the exact same as Blancpain EU and Asia. BES is exclusive to EU, the closest thing in the US is the IMSA sprint cup.

*though.
WEC, IMSA, the various SRO stuff(Blancpain US/EU/Asia, BES, GT4 EU/USA/Insert country here), Super GT, GT Open.
You can find the SRO stuff on the GTWorld channel.
youtube.com/user/gt1world
GT Open on their own channel.

Portugal knows what's up.

You know from the one guy rambling about Hondas during the 24h last night and making me look closer at how little they changed on the new bike I think I'm starting to understand why Honda shitcanned Ten Kate.

Qatar 2016 2. 69 Nickey Hayden 1'56.561 +0.305
Qatar 2017 15. 34 Davide Giugliano 1'58.977 +2.749
Qatar 2018 10. 2 Leon Camier 1'57.682 +1.558

It's not like the new Fireblade is an ultra stinker compared to the previous one, or is a super difficult bike, it's the same basic frame and engine with upgrades and yet they couldn't get the thing running worth a damn even while it's noticeably improved competitiveness for the endurance spec bike. Giugliano was a second slower than on a Ducati and Camier was barely faster than the MV Augusta. By the way also real fun to see the grid shrink from 25 to 20 to 17 bikes over those years.

At Aragon Bautista was half a second faster than Melandri on last year's Ducati, the fastest time otherwise was pretty similar, and Camier was 2/10 slower on the Moriwaki Honda than the Ten Kate Honda last year, so still kind of eh. That version of the bike is developed for the Bridgestone tires they use in JSB1000 and EWC though, they just better not still be shitting around still later in the season.

it's amazing the australians just discovered that downforce in the corners is a thing,

I think it's all a carefully orchestrated financial shill on the part of supercars and Ford. Seems like manufacturers pay a series to let their new cars run completely overpowering setups for a few races to make a name for themselves before being brought back down to level.

They should just make them switch to the Mondeo instead of the Mustang, and it can basically be the same as the Falcon, only slightly restyled. Problem solved.
