I don't know what chants they were doing but they had the drums going. The supporters section lit purple smoke grenades and 'Purple Haze' played over the PA whenever the team scored. Orlando? I havent been to new stadium. Went to some at citrus bowl when they were getting like 40k people. It was pretty fun and was surrounded by fairly normal people getting drunk, was opposite from "supporter section" and couldn't understand their spanglish chanting

Orlando Magic are trash historically. The only time they were really good was when they had Shaq and Hardaway in the 90s. The 2009 Howard team was good, but not really that great.

Not in a million years. The only one I can think of that could pull that argument is the Seattle team, but their NFL team is very popular and has a much larger stadium. Even then, MLS teams have failed to strike any popularity outside of the obscure followings in their city proper.
America is so big, that you can be several hundred miles away from the closest professional sports team you follow, but still have access to the big 4 leagues through TV, radio, the web. MLS doesn’t have enough interest to reach places like that, as the people hate soccer. Not every city has a team from the big 4 leagues, even if all their teams are losers, people will still watch and talk about them. And even if they don’t have any big 4 professional sports teams, they are collegiate sports and stuff like minor leagues; these are much more popular than MLS.
MLS is less than 30 years old, soccer still has an effeminate and boring stigma in the states, and people are way too interested and invested in MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, collegiate sports, and Minor leagues, to even give two shits about the MLS. And the people who do like soccer here, watch superior leagues from other parts of the world.

the problem with the MLS is they fundamentally miss the point of football support, there's no expressions of local humour, no culture of spontaneity, just waving a flag someone else planted on your seat and repeating whatever chant the balding hipster at the front tells you to do. it's the result of a small cabal of people who don't even care about the sport, these "Ultras" trying to manufacture and dictate a club culture rather than letting it develop, using it as a vehicle for their own politics and such.

football failed in america the first time, like it did in Canada and Australia, because european immigrant communities founded the first clubs but made them "ethnic football clubs" and excluded people from the fanbase, eventually fading into obscurity because of low attendances. so american sawker had to build new teams from scratch rather than relying on traditional teams. the same shit is happening with these new teams, they're ran by these hipsters who are excluding people who don't fit their "vision" for the club.

the only hope for american sawker is building up small community teams, possible on areas neglected by NFL, with more of a local aesthetic and ethos. football has to embed itself into american life, become less like a corporate foreign import and win people over in places where it's not welcome if it actually wants to become a major sport.

NYCFC for me, it has just about enough assholes that they may be pretty based, Ive been there twice on away days... I wouldn’t call them ultras and I don’t think they would either but you can spot the “core” supporters and they’re assholes who will give you shit if you walk around them with your team colors on but also based enough to give sideways compliments and probably offer you a beer..... I’ve seen them make guys take off opposition jerseys if they wanna hang out at their pregame spots

Either La Liga or English Premier League.

In La Liga you get the 2 pound for pound best teams in the whole world, plus a ton of smaller teams that would give any EPL team a run for their money. In EPL you get a ton of decent and really special teams, but a higher ratio of absolute shit teams.

All the other leagues are pretty much dominated by 1 team and most games are a bore to watch, unless you get lucky and catch lille anally ravaging PSG.
