Because the EPL makes significantly more money than any other league. For a club like Everton, securing 7th place in the EPL means much much more than winning the EL. The fact that Spanish teams actually try in the EL is a bad look for La Liga, not a good one

Teams like Arsenal and Chelsea would rather just fight for top 4 instead and play their youth in Europe. Teams that make Europa in Spain like Villarreal have no chance of that so they go all in on the EL
