Things are changing tho, and if you look closely, once we tend to reach certain level of clubs the other players feel unaceptable not being like them and go there too. We have had a shiton of players in PSV and minor "good" teams this last years, hope we can go further beyond.

Regional competition is important, south american clubs and national teams are always playing against each other, same goes for europe.
When you spend your whole season playing only against other mexican clubs, MLS franchises and central america shitters, when you get to the big leagues you realize you are a big fish in a small pond.
The only way for mexico to prevent this on the national level is to have more players playing for big clubs in europe.

Until last WC only 2 teams have advanced Group Stage in the last 5 tournaments and they where Mexico and Germany. I think at this point is fair to assume that beyond weak mentality and lack of talent we have had shitty luck.

We are elite in baseball and boxing, you not knowing about it does not mean it´s not true. Actually we should be shittier in football but somehow manage to alway do more than expected (yeah 7 Ro16 exits sucks but it´s better than what we should be getting).
