You are terribly mistaken about that second part. Tech’s offense is way way better than their season stats show. Their apparent mediocre rating is due to a very sluggish first half, but in the last 11 games of the season their offense suddenly transformed in to one of the best in all of college basketball. Kenpom would show them as being top 10 in offensive efficiency if you eliminated all the game data prior to February.

Tech is in the final 4 for a reason. Their offense is very good, and honestly from what I’ve watched so far out of Virginia and TTech in the tournament, I’d have to say the latter has actually looked better in that department. UVA’s offense looks completely lost whenever their 3s aren’t falling, while Tech has seemed much more able and willing to score in a variety of ways.
