Full out fist fighting and brawls should be left to hockey in my opinion. It's nice to get the occasional scuffle/confrontation in a football game, but if it were to be made a regular occurrence, it would become cheapened and boring. Not to mention, hockey has been trying to move away from the enforcer era for quite some time now. He was traded from Hamilton to Montreal when he didn't get the starting job. Wasn't much good for Montreal either and was generally always competing for the spot.

He had clauses in his contract that he had to stay clean(ish), as well as have meetings with therapists/counsellors for general upkeep. He was probably pissed at not dominating like he expected, or being the starter full-time without hassle, so he stopped going to the meetings, which essentially negated his contract. CFL commissioner barred any other team from picking him up.

Pretty smart way to get out of the league and probably make so much for playing in this one.

This week's games failed to break into the top 50 once again. Last weeks games averaged around 294k viewers (excluding reruns) while this week averaged 277k viewers.

Apollos at the Kangz was the most watched game, with around 340k viewers. The Commanders game was the least viewed, despite having the highest attendance in league history thus far.

The 18-49 demo also slipped by one point this week, which truthfully isn't a good sign for ratings being already so low. Last week averaged 0.09 (excluding reruns), this week averaged 0.08.

In terms of competition with other sports, it's no surprised that March Madness killed it this week.

The AAF's ratings only managed to beat out college wrestling on ESPN, the Colorado v. Chicago NHL game and the NIT Dayton v. Colorado game.

It tied in ratings with the following: Womens NCAA basketball (two games) and the Overwatch League Playoffs -- an esports competition.

The AAF lost out to all other major sports competitions, as well as another esports competition on TBS.

Illegal streams don't matter. They aren't generating any money for the league.

Streams are not included (except for people streaming on the NFL Network, etc). They don't have a massive amount of viewers to make a significant impact. Averaging around 1.5-5k viewers ea. Even if you tack on an extra 15-20k to the viewership, it really doesn't change things much.

there's at least a willingness to allot time to it based on viewership numbers, I guess. put it this way: the networks must see it as an economically logical opportunity to buy up the games and allot run time and ad minutes to it over some alternative. In the case of TNT, the time slot that AAF would run in is probably something like 3-5 year old capeshit movies. I wouldn't doubt football, even meme league, to outdo a rerun of Batman Begins.

He went through spring training with Hamilton and generally played well in Preseason. Hamilton's coach started a meme black QB instead which meant Manziel rode the bench. This pissed off pretty much everyone (including fans of other teams) because arguably the biggest star to enter our league in 20 years and he's just... not playing at all.

Enter the Montreal Alouettes. They have been the Cleveland Browns of the CFL since their veteran QB retired in 2013. The team wasn't making any money and was 3-13 the previous season. It's a dumpster fire of a squad. To put asses in seats and sell merch (which is a legit problem in the CFL), they signed Manziel as a gimmick. Also they started him immediately, which is impossible in a sport like football. You cannot learn a whole offensive system and all the lingo and audibles and hot routes in a week.

He got completely obliterated in the games he started through no fault of his own, then benched because the CFL, its owners, players, coaches, and even TSN has little guy syndrome and love picking on former NFL players to pretend they're more than a development league.

Manziel got fed the fuck up of this charade because he's now wasting the prime years of his life getting used as a circus act and worked out a deal to get "booted" from the league. As another user mentioned, he never got into trouble or got arrested up here so it was probably a pre-arranged thing behind the scenes otherwise you'd have heard about it by now.

The more the story of Manziel develops, I don't believe he's as fucked up or batshit insane as the media has made him out to be. He put in all this hard work only to be drafted by a shit team that had no hope in hell of resembling a pro football squad and then continuously passed off to other shit teams as a circus act to sell merch. That was his "reward" for being the most exciting college QB in 25 years.

It’s a mathematical problem. If you score in series of 8’s,6’s, and 3’s you’ll have inballance. Due to this, you need other scores if you want games to become close. They would have had a better finish one week if they would have had a 3point PAT or a 4point fg rule. It’s either this or have a one point PAT from one foot from the goal line. The scoring rules are the issue with comebacks in the AAF. I’m thinking in terms of what can be done so that games stay close.

The XFL will hopefully consider the quality of the games and mend their rules so that comebacks happen easier and that blowouts end early. Having great games is all that spring football can do to stay relevant. The players will get scooped up by the nfl after every season, so they need to have the focus on coaching decisions and strategy. The players will benefit from having nail biter games, it’ll magnify their efforts more.
