Since Indy only races NA the NA crowd usually has a race close to home they can go to so the crowd gets watered down.

For example i'd have to buy tickets to CoTA but i can drive to Indy, Mid-ohio, or Road America for way less.

It's kind of complicated, because F1 has such wildly different pit strategy with the modern rules. Even the race fastest lap isn't very representative of how fast they run in races because the cars get a shitload faster towards the end of the race when they aren't carrying 100kg of fuel and they run as slow as they can get away with to save their shit. The average lap time of the winner last year including standing start and pit stops was 1:41.0 while the guys that got lapped would have been over 1:42.

These guys are doing fucking 1:52s on old tires though and the fastest lap so far is barely in the 1:49s. LMP1 usually has a big drop off from qualifying to race because of how the hybrid system is used over continuous laps, but was in the 1:47s on lap 9 last race here.
