Women's sport in things like football/golf/rugby/cricket/basketball is just terrible compared to men because it's less impressive, skilled, dynamic and competitive. In biathlon, they ski less distance or at slower speeds than men but it dosn't take away from the competition at all.

if you were bolshunov, what would you do? is it possible for him to at least grab the same amount of bonus seconds as klaebo?
Parker James
A sprint finish that he starts already 3k before the finish. With Norwegians keeping the pace in front and no one else wanting to go and keep a high pace, there will be a large group together at the finish and Bolshu can't win Klaebo in a finish sprint.
OEB won bronze at 2017 WCH aged 43, 20 years after his first WCH medal in 1997
interesting, both races been pursuits also i just googled him, and saw that he won first small crystal globe - sprint crystal globe - in 1995, 2 years before first WCH medal in 94/95 season there were 6 WC stages + Anterselva WCH(for some reason it was not included into russian wiki page of WC seasons 94/95)
Dylan Miller
>With Norwegians keeping the pace in front and no one else wanting to go and keep a high pace, i would consider an option of going as fast as he can, like its individual start for WCH gold and setting highest pace since 5th kilometer, but there is a danger of backpackers and for such elite racers as every norwegian there its an easy task to keep up with him, so he will burn out and they will take the podium :(

If she does win, she needs Lisa to be 4th or worse AND Doro 17th or worse
Lisa wins the globe if:
She wins and Doro 7th or worse 2nd and Doro 11th or worse 3rd and Doro 17th or worse 4th, Kuzmina not winning and Doro 22nd or worse

Just got off the treadmill and finished the last low-intensity workout of the week. Goal is a half marathon in under 1:40 in October. It's motivating to watch sports while working out, so it's sad that the winter sports season is ending. I should get a proper heart monitor, this watch is too basic.
Yikes, just get a Polar M430, rock solid and pretty inexpensive.
Christopher Barnes
Seppälä skied 1 second faster than JTB last 3k, fastest of all.

I'm looking at the Garmin 735XT, need something that I can use for cycling, swimming and running. Software is so old though, so I'll probably just wait a few weeks until I start serious training to see if Garmin/Polar/Suunto cut the prices of their newest models. It's all low-intensity right now, so a HR isn't essential. Just getting used to putting in 150 minutes a day, gradually increasing the speed every week.
Thanks man, I hope so. Last time I set a goal like this I rushed it and got injured, won't be doing the same mistake this time.
Gavin Rivera
Based JTB will take the record of most wins in a season from Fourkek, feels good man.
Ok la, the newest Polar is very good I heard, but still expensive. Suunto and Garmin are both good as they should be for the prices you pay for them. Good luck lad.
Benjamin Walker
What a nice race, I'm all smiles right now
Logan Russell
I can recommend everything Wahoo produces, I don't think they have watches though. Garmin cycling computers are not worth the money.
Also I'd argue that HR is more important for low intensity since it's really easy to go too fast without realizing it. Also HR doesn't respond fast enough to be used on higher intensity workouts. If you go by HR you'll start way too fast on intervals.
Dylan Thompson
I hurt my hamstring when foam rolling. I think I need to skip leg day next week.
Landon Cox
lol. your whore mother should have aborted a failure like you but what a dumb bitch she turned out to be. Well, just like you
Honestly I just started this program 4 weeks ago and October is a long way so I haven't even thought that far. I'll just have to adapt the program on the go depending on how I feel. 1:40 is pretty slow on a half marathon, so I don't think I'll have to make it too complicated to hit that goal. I'm not planning on getting a lactate meter or anything like that. I've seen the Ingebrigtsens put a lot of time into threshold training, but that seems like a complete overkill for a below-average runner like me. Just focusing on quantity right now as I only have experience with the 10k and 21k will be a big step up.
>Also I'd argue that HR is more important for low intensity since it's really easy to go too fast without realizing it I'm just on the treadmill these first few weeks, so I don't think that will be a problem. I know a lot of people are critical to spending too much time on the mill, but I don't think it's a big deal for an amateur like me. More injury prone on the tarmac.
>Also HR doesn't respond fast enough to be used on higher intensity workouts. What I've been told is that the optical sensors don't, but the chest straps generally do. Either way I'm not going full-science on this. >If you go by HR you'll start way too fast on intervals. I don't think I'll be doing a lot of intervals. Once a week tops. I'm sure it can be very beneficial to include more intervals even for marathon training, but my target is fairly moderate. Most HIIT increase the chance of an injury and I'm just doing this for fun, not to beat others. I'm not really looking to improve my speed or 'kick' significantly. My 10k time was 47 minutes last month which should make 1:40 in a half marathon realistic as long as I increase my stamina. First priority is getting at least four 10k+ runs down every week.
Thanks man. Appreciate the recommendations.
Andrew Walker
Appreciate the advice by the way, but this will be my last post of the day. I didn't mean to hijack this thread.

wow, JTB just set a new record for wins in a season: 15 races won(of 24). as i said earlier, for me it gone unnoticed for some reason, i didnt even feel he won so often
Kevin Thompson
even when using median those huge city marathon times are dragged down by old people, walkers and people who sign up with no experience just for the prestige of finishing. if you start in the back your start will also be extremely slow since you have to keep passing hundreds of people. 1:40 would be pretty average for someone spending months preparing for the race.
Carson Hill
Yeah. I ran a 3:40 full Marathon and I had to go to the toilet after 30k
Justin Lewis
How fit are you? Do you have athletics background? 3:40 is very good
Adrian Ward
I was a talented middle and long distance runner in my teens. Then some African the year below in school smashed all my school records in the 3k and 5k and I realized I could never be good.
Started running again in my 20s and I still run almost every morning or late at night.
Jonathan Garcia
>I still run almost every morning or late at night. do you have a time to? i feel like i dont
Brandon Mitchell
90% of the time I run 1500 3k or 5k. Every now and then a 10k. I don't have time to run any longer either. Only reason I ran a marathon is because a friend challenged me
>What I've been told is that the optical sensors don't, but the chest straps generally do. Either way I'm not going full-science on this. It's not even about the sensor accuracy and how accurately they can track changes in your HR. It's that your HR doesn't go up nearly as fast as the intensity does. When I'm doing anything near/above threshold on the bike my HR can take 10 minutes to get up to where it will settle. And that's while going at a steady power output. Just something to keep in mind if you do intervals with HR, don't try to get the HR to the target in the first few minutes unless you're doing an all out interval.
I'm aiming for a sub 52 min 40 km TT next summer. Did a sub 1 hour on road bike with shallow wheels last summer and I've got a proper TT bike with a disc and deep front wheel now so it should be doable.

i've the garmin fenix, but only because my grandma bought it as a graduation present. if i was spending my own money i'd be very content with the 735 or suunto sport. seems suunto has better support for skiing, but garmin's better battery life was a deal breaker for me
>What I've been told is that the optical sensors don't, but the chest straps generally do.
can confirm that chest straps respond quickly. even if your watch has an optical sensor i would still get a chest strap. they're pretty inexpensive and also allow more data collection like lactate threshold

Lisa to win the globe needs to win the mass start with Doro 7th or worse; 2nd with Doro 11th or worse; 3rd with Doro 17th or worse; 4th as long as Kuzmina doesn't win and Doro 22nd or worse
Doro wins the globe with a 6th place in case of Lisa winning the mass start; 10th if Lisa is 2nd; 16th in case of either Lisa being 3rd or Kuzmina winning the mass start; with any kind of placement in the mass start as long as Kuzmina doesn't win and Lisa is 5th or worse
Kuzmina can only win the globe by winning the mass start and having both Lisa 4th or worse and Doro 18th or worse
Super tldr: Kuzmina must win, Lisa must be at least in the top 4, Doro must not collapse
Never liked the guy but even the most cynical must have some feelz over someone who got cucked so hard by life.

track is too easy every sprinter(klaebo, stina) can just backpack till the finish spurt
i thought about this yesterday. Even if Bolshunov didnt broke a pole and lost bonus seconds, he would still be probably 2nd at finish after Klaebo yesterday, and today they would start about the same time and they would just repeat mass start scenario, track seems to be too flat to give advantage for long-runners like Bolshunov(in a good shape) or Johaug/Anderson/Karlsson
Isaiah Rogers
Peak performance?

This, the easiness of the track combined with the very fast conditions yesterday and today means that backpacks like Klaebo and Stina can win. Should have been a harder track and slightly longer distance. The fact that Klaebo can win the overall cup is a disgrace, fuck FIS.

That's the easiest way but what about the stand behind the shootign range?
You would have to move t&f and football stadium somewhere else, or buid a temporary shooting range, because 50m range is less than the width of a football field.
Samuel Gonzalez
Her speed was one of the best at the start of this season. But later she became slower (not compared to others, but compared to herself), tho she figured out that you are supposed to aim while shooting and most of the time was better at it out of the team. If she will not be once again left to train on her own (ending up hiking while eating gross scandinavian fish dishes), she should finally get some singles gold next season. I don't think coaches were expecting her to perfom this good in current season (and Tiril interviews imply that qt was just tested out with the rest young girls at start of the year and surprised coaches)
Michael Perez
