Premier League Darts Hopps over the English Channel for the first of three evenings of continental clashes which will see out the elimination phase. Berlin and its enormous Mercedes Benz Arena is the opening venue for the "European Tour" and those crazy Germans will see Max Hopp aiming to put one nail in the coffin of Raymond van Barneveld's pro career. Despite making his first Pro Tour final in 3½ YEARS at the weekend, Barney's last PLD has been pathetic to say the very least, scraping just 2 points from barely deserved draws. Although it's the local Maximiser, he should surely have too much for him, right?
First up though are two contrasting personalities in Wales' roaring rugger roidlet Gerwyn Price and Hastings dullard Rob Cross. The Iceman suffered his first defeat of the PLD season back in Nottingham, while Voltage moved up into joint first, only behind his fellow master of bald autism on legs won against the throw.
A top 4 fight is next with bipolar disorder's James Wade playing midlife crisis man Peter Wright. The Machine suffered a surprise defeat last week for his first loss in 4, whereas Snakebite threw away a precious win but moved into the top 4 thanks to Price's loss.
The big man then graces the stage in a repeat of the thrilling Players Championship Finals final as World #1 Michael van Gerwen takes on Ulster's Daryl Gurney. Superchin famously kept MVG at bay in that Minehead classic, but with no win in 3 PL games and that PCFs win being his first in 14 attempts against the Autism Express, normal service should resume for the current league leader.
Preceding the contender match is a vital bottom half battle involving St. Helens fat lad Michael Smith and everyone's favourite unorthodox Serbo-Austrian Mensur Suljovic. Both men secured utterly crucial wins last week, yet the pressure is more on Bully Boy than the Gentle as he's just 3 points clear of elimination.
Coverage starts at 7:00pm GMT on Sky Sports Action, and at 8:00pm CET on Sport1.

So as mentioned in the OP it was another weekend of intensive Players Championship action from Wigan's Robin Park Tennis Centre. Stoke's dab master and floor specialist Ian White again became the #1 seed after Michael van Gerwen withdrew from the field.
It didn't work for him on Saturday though as both he and #2 seed Peter Wright crashed out in round 1 of PC7, losing to the Tipton equivalent of Dave Chisnall in Jamie Hughes and Croatian-German jobber Robert Marijanovic respectively. Rob Cross was the star performer of the last 128, averaging 107 in a 6-1 thumping of Eddie Dootson, but his run ended in the last 16 to Chizzy, who produced a bewildering 108 average! Dave was phenomenal all day, having just 2 of 7 averages below the 100 mark. Dim Dave got to the final having beaten Vincent van der Voort in the quarters and then fellow Lakeside final bottlejob Mark McGeeney was annihilated 7-2 by a 109 average. The other half saw 14-game unbeaten Gerwyn Price mercifully remove Justin Pipe at the first hurdle, and got all the way to the semis before a surprise shite showing of a sub-90 average saw him lose 7-2 to Daryl Gurney. Superchin went 2-0 and 5-3 ahead but won just one more leg and lost 8-6.
PC8's biggest surprise in the first round saw the now unseeded Gary Anderson manage to lose 6-5 to Conan Whitehead having been 4-0 ahead. Round 1's star was Krzysztof Ratajski, who hit a 106 average against Vincent van der Meer, but lost next round to Dimitri Van den Bergh. Surging through the bottom half though was Raymond van Barneveld, beating little fat boy Martin Schindler in a last 16 last leg decider and then took out Jan Dekker and Keegan Brown (the latter in a 13 leg struggle) for his first Pro Tour final since September 2015. His opponent was Adrian Lewis, who had been largely unimpressive until a ridiculous 110 average to hammer Jonny Clayton 7-1 in the semis. Barney turned 2-0 into 3-2 but then lost 6 straight to give Jackpot his first PDC title in nearly 2 years.

>Untergoatner No, of course he won't do anything, but Hopp won't either, and Unterbuchner is at least not nearly as delusional as Hopp, so I actually enjoy watching him. Same goes for Gaga, he just plays, and he's tall and fat, so everybody likes him. Uter on the other hand is just the lesbian kid version of Supersulk.

So now everyone's won a match in the PL... contenders aside. Round-up will be in the usual place but I can't do it this evening.
See you next WEDNESDAY for the first of two nights in Rotterdam.
Yep!

The contenders have 3 points, just one behind Barneveld
