Eyeshield 21 is the goat
still hasn't been topped
Someone's bound to mention ping pong so I'll post Matsumoto's other sports Kino
Major is better
why are there so few sports comics? why is manga so superior, bros?
dh
Manga didn't have the Comics code authority censor all non cape shit comics out of stores. Manga authors own their creations as opposed to having a corporation like DC/Marvel own the IP so the corporation can rehash it endlessly for 50+ years with a revolving door of authors, cementing it in pop culture, and then using all these juggernaut IPs to now kill cinema.
second season never ever
REAL by the same author is even better. Too bad it'll never be finished though
Absolutely based.
>you will never be a cutter
Why live?
Girl tries to assemble her dads old high school baseball team to get them to enter the senior version of the school tournament they never got the chance to play at. It's pretty good though the ending is a bit eh in how it all wraps up.
Best sports manga of all time and also best manga of all time coming through.
Based anons with good taste. If Real wasn't fucking on hiatus forever it could one day nearly be as good as Ashita no Joe. Although the best arc in Real was about pro wrestling.
>be kid in school
>everyone plays footy but I'm ultra shit at it
>local tv starts airing slam dunk and suddenly everyone is playing basketball
>turns out I'm much better at basketball than basically everyone up to my year save for like 3 or 4 guys
>have real fun
Good times.
What was up with the shit ending?
This
>still no hockey anime
How is it a shit ending? It was the best possible ending for his character arc. Shohoku didn't win the championship but Sakuragi learned to be a real basketball player and became a better person with a (probably) bright future in basketball.
If you mean why the anime ended just before the inter high championship then dunno
I mean I can understand that but I was really enjoying reading them play together. Although Sakuragi's development through the entire story is top tier, even with the incident in the final game. Speaking of said final game, THAT was a rollercoaster to read through.
>I was really enjoying reading them play together
Yeah but that was not going to last long anyway, with Akagi, Mitsui and the glasses guy going to university. It's a bit of a bittersweet ending but I think it's best to end the story there, it's Sakuragi's story not Shohoku's
Maybe not the most kino, but it's comfy as hell
