It's the end of a long championship season where the World Championship was his main goal. He won a 15km mass start and a 15km pursuit earlier this season (no big lead on Ustiugov and Bolshunov lost time). youtube.com/watch?v=nnvHr3MJ2O8 youtube.com/watch?v=F6Zg4Dbhpos
I agree that sprints should have less of an impact on the World Cup though, Bolshunov has clearly been the best all-rounder this season. Tour de Ski should also be 'nerfed'. Johaug has been the best woman in skiing this season and has won every single distance race she's started, but since she didn't start Tour de Ski she's only ranked fourth in the World Cup over 360 points behind Östberg. Östberg has only taken about 160 of those points in sprints.
Elijah Sanchez
There is no way Bolshunov will not win the cup next weekend with the form he has been showing. I believe!

Nothing on that yet. She just got pretty emotional and annoyed at the interviewer at the end. She is very disappointed.

Her face isn't unattractive for me but I just don't find girls with curly hair attractive. Like it just completely kills any attraction I have to them if they've got curly hair.
She's said she'll take it one season at a time and will keep going as long as she enjoys it. We might just get at least one more season of Kaisa.
Austin Jones
I live near QC City. How do I even attend this thing? Is it free, kind of like the cycling thing?

>only one weekend of biathlon remaining this spring
Only one extra sprint has been added this season compared to the last one, and it's a stage sprint with half the WC points awarded. Excluding the championship races there hasn't been a single World Cup season with more than one 50km (or longer) race since 2002 when Birkebeineren was a part of the World Cup. We had the Seefeld 50km this year as well so a third 50km would've been ridiculous. There was only one skiathlon last season and that race was replaced by a 30km freestyle this season. No dramatic changes.
There will be more chances for longer races next season when there are no championships.
Jace Nguyen
I don't respect sports where they are average in multiple things instead of being really good at something.
Chase Ward
you're in a thread dedicated to mediocre skiers showcasing their mediocre shooting abilities
Dylan Hill
I respect pentatholinsts/hepthalonists very highly!
Jaxon Murphy
let's see how well dedicated shooters can shoot after few kilometers of skiing
Mason Miller
Shooting and skiing work well together. And you have to be the best in the world to shoot while tired. Nordic Combined is literally two different races and they're average at both races
Michael Edwards
>Nordic Combined is literally two different races and they're average at both races yes, and pentathlon is ten seperate competitions and it's still kino. just add a few more sports to nordic combined and we'll make it more watchable. the ultimate winter sport athlete needs a sport.
Not true though. Many biathletes have done well in XC as well, Hermann, Tiril, OEB to name a few. And the shooting bit doesn't really apply because, as Finnbro said, they're skiing their asses off for several kilometers before coming to the range with a heart rate of 160+ BPM. A dedicated shooter could never do that, while biathletes often compete in shooting tournaments (at least here in Norway). Nordic combined athletes jump shorter than dedicated jumpers and ski slower than dedicated skiers
>just add a few more sports to nordic combined and we'll make it more watchable We need winter decathlon: All four alpine skiing events, ski jump in small, large and ski flying hills, speed skating, XC and biathlon. Points are accumulated from all events and the one with most points win. I'd watch that shit.
Austin Garcia
why wont they wear such comfy hats during competition?
John Lee
trifags are cancerous and the sport is shit
Jonathan Rivera
Winter decathlon sounds kino. Let's contact the lads that do the Olympics, I hear they'll take any old sport there.

>buy new skin skis >go test them out instantly >have not skied classic since being in the army 10 years ago >with forest skis and wearing wellingtons >be sore all over skis 10/10, gotta work on technique and just ski more.
Tiril is a shit skier and Frida could beat her blindfolded on any distance longer than a babby sprint.
Alexander Cooper
Fuck, isn't it so much fun though? No other sport combines technique, strength, endurance and being in nature. Rowing maybe but skiing is just such a great way to get some exercise.
Sebastian Morgan
And Tiril could shoot way better especially after skiing. What's your point?
Joshua Hernandez
My point is that people ITT unironically believe Tiril is some sort of elite skier when in reality she wouldn't get a spot on Norway's relay team in XC in a million years.
Mason Baker
I doubt anyone thinks that. Tiril is a good skier comparatively to the rest of the IBU WC field. Very few biathletes could compete against actuals skiers. The only one I could think of is Lars Berger in Sapporo and maybe GOAT.
Robert Thompson
Yeah. I should've gotten these skis so much earlier, beats riding on a trainer any day of the week. I got into endurance sports through cycling and while they're different both are amazing. Cycling is more about pure endurance, power, and strength while skiing requires actual technique. Both let you just forget everything else in the world and just focus on the road/track in front of you.
Juan Nelson
>Both let you just forget everything else in the world and just focus on the road/track in front of you. Exactly this, as a super amateur as I am I have to focus so much on my technique that I get to forget everything else, it's great.
Sebastian Hall
Not him, but yes, too bad that at southern coast that is three months max, and "being in nature" part is two months max as skiing a 1,5km loop is not really being in nature
Jonathan Scott
Who da fuck thinks that?
James Robinson
Imagine falling asleep tired and happy, hugging your fav woman

Cycling is almost like meditation for me. I can either just focus on riding or go through stuff that is bothering me. It's amazing what just riding home from work can do after a stressful day.

>we are entering in an Italian dominance era I don't think so, maybe for the girls since Kuzmina gonna retire, Kaisa became too old and Hampster is a part time biathlete but there is still Herrmann who begin to shot better and few young girls who gonna be more constant. For the guys no way, Italians guys are too inconstant, JTB gonna be there for years and many others guys can wins each race too. So no spaghettisation for me

>tiril laughing when they asked about how wierer is as competitor and friend: -well she's not one of my best friends
interesting, when they asked about Doro to MDH 3 days ago she said "we girls don't like her because she's too beautiful and too strong" she said that on a joking way with laughing and just after she said "in fact it's really a good person, always nice and always smiling" But unfortunately i think the first sentence was little true since women are like that And i think for men it's the same but about success and i think everyone hate 4chad and JTB but obviously no one gonna said it
We worked on the physical gene manipulation this season. Next season our brain team will have fixed her balance as well.
Christopher Kelly
Feeling bad for Kaisa. She is one of the most popular athletes and the only top biathlete in Finland. She have been under too much pressure, though she haven't admitted it.
Is it true that Falla and Skistad dislike each other?
If true, I'm team Falla all the way.
Isaac Ward
Don't know but it wouod be weird if they did. I mean Falla is 10 years older than Skistad. Usually those tensions arrise between athletes in the same age group. On the other hand, if they really do, there must have something happened between those two.
Juan Sullivan
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee i am lazy and forget to check other german team memebers' instagram and spot her there
Only now for a whole WCH i opened Doll's IG and found that cute pic
She's a mental midget though. Part of it has to be being the only top biathlete or even one of the few medal hopes in Olympics but she consistently chokes on world champs and Olympics.

Prettiest. Still don't get was that German baiting me when called her non-pretty or was he serious, because in my opinion she have a perfect face. Strict, shaped, beautiful
Aaahhhh if I had a wife, we would play footie together on backyard, and had a gym session together, with squatting and jumpig, and squeeze each other sore butts after that
Andrew Richardson
If we both were a biathletes, i already thought it few years ago, we could train together actually quite a lot. Not intervals/hard/camps, but evening/morning jogging(warm up tempo, cool down too) and gym workouts/gymnastics/whatever are avialable for joint male+female excercising

They drop in popularity if they are taken.

He's probably sick. And Tiril gets sick all the time.
German police say Swedish, Finnish, Italian and German athletes are involved in the Seefeld blood doping bust along with the already outed athletes from Kazakhstan, Austria and Estonia and one more unnamed country. 21 athletes involved in total from 5 different sports. 3 of them are winter sports.
Apparently 10 countries are involved, and 8 of them are European.
Daniel Fisher
>Swedish >Finnish
How bad can you possibly be?
Jason Wood
kek. Iivo?
Blake James
I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was Charlotte Kalla, but I expect it to be some nobody. Kalla left the national team and her results have been all over the place. Also struggles with heart problems.
I think it's unlikely that it's her, she seems like a pretty reasonable and down-to-earth person. Her really great results came after she trained with the Norwegian women for some time.
Parker Brown
Obviously this is reaching. But she's the most likely one to be doping of the actual successful ones that are still active.
the risks of heart problems and embolisms are even higher in people who take certain contraceptives
Lincoln Cox
>she seems like a pretty reasonable and down-to-earth person Same could be said about Mika Myllylä and several other dopers. The idea that people that appear to be 'good people' in the media can't be dopers is naive.
>Her really great results came after she trained with the Norwegian women for some time. She won Tour de Ski in 2009 when she was 20 and an Olympic gold in 2010 at 22. This was long before she started training with the Norwegians.
Robert Cruz
Think you're misinterpreting the news. It says blood doping has taken place in those countries, not necessarily involving athletes from those countries.
Jason Myers
Ok, that's fair, but Kazakhstan, Austria and Estonia are already listed so the odds of the 16 unnamed athletes not representing any of the other countries listed are low.
Carter Ward
OH NO NO NO
Also any guesses at the sports involved? Langrenn is confirmed and biathlon, and cycling are pretty much given but what are the other two?
Jack Foster
Only one of 21 athletes participated in Pyengchang Olympics, per NRK. Sounds like it's mostly cyclists and tritards plus some literal whos from winter sports.
Lucas Nguyen
Triathlon due to the Hawaii connection
Cooper Thomas
curling
Colton Perez
Last winter sport is probably Nordic Combined or speed skating.
Gabriel Wilson
>Only one of 21 athletes participated in Pyengchang Olympics, per NRK. Hauke, Baldauf, Tammjärv, Veerpalu and Poltoranin all competed at the Pyeongchang Olympics though. Do those 21 athletes not include the ones already caught?
Adrian Stewart
Yeah that makes sense.
Is that 21 besides the ones caught in Seefeld? Because all the skiers were in the Olympics. The remaining ones are probably mostly cyclists and trifags. Especially when considering that German cycling operates a lot around the area where the doctor had his practice.
Are you trying to say figure skaters don't do blood bags? I'd assume they would've caught the combined athletes in Seefeld if they were using this doctor.
Jaxson Wilson
Sounds like they're excluding them yes OR they're saying that only one of them had a re-fill during the Olympics. The presser was focused on documented blood transfusions so it could be the latter. bit confused here tbf.
In biathlon you must shoot the targets, not other people
Jason Campbell
obviously, noriaki kasai winning the silver medal, would be even greater if the 'jury' didn't rob him the gold.
Jose Myers
Weekly reminder that some dude ranked 27th after 1st round won the World Championship gold in Windluck and that all medals won in Juryjump are useless.
Has anyone done calculations on worldcup points? Because the two lowest points wil be removed from the total points. How are Lisa and Doro doing regarding their two lowest scores?
Lisa has currently more points overall considering the two lowest scores going out.
As they have the same points, the tiebreaker has Doro with better top results (3 wins and 3 second places, compared to 2 wins and 2 second places by Lisa) therefore that's why she's wearing the red bib.
At the moment the two worst results are 28 pts for Lisa and 36 for Doro.
