christmas tree formation is based though. Classic back 4 with 3 sturdy CMs or one DM and 2 CM's. 2 inside forwards to cut in while the fullbacks make overlapping runs to add with and you have enough CMs to cover for the fullbacks. Striker up top is your standard CF.

3 CBs done badly is a disaster and proof the manager is a brainlet (see every time Martin O'Neill tried it). 3 CBs done well is the most high IQ of formations and requires high IQ players.
Your right and left CBs need to be capable at covering fullback. Your wingbacks need to be actual wingbacks, able to play fullback properly and great going forward. Get that pendulum going right, it's patrician as fuck.
