Cycling has made a pretty good effort for being 'fair' with regards to pay for female athletes. The problem, obviously, is the discrepancy between the $ generated by mens vs womens races - which is why I feel that the UCI has been reasonably fair.

2. Tournaments such as the gold cup, CONCACAF and the World Cup bring more viewers than any women's game.
3. Women national team do not play the same amount of games the men's play, take into consideration men play in clubs whether is in Europe or the US international duty sucks because you will need to travel long periods of time.
4. Women in the other hand do play club but aren't in demand as much as what men do.

This issue should be solve like this, give women a pay raise, better football facilities, better opportunities. The US soccer association can't pay them the same as men, they are joking that's not how it works.
