18-1

2001 Season for >Schalke

Newcastle's 12 point lead in 95/96 season back in december. worse than the 2014 slip

was that their first season with shearer?

Bruins blowing a 3-0 series lead. They were also up 3-0 in game 7 and blew it to lose 4-3

no. they had les Ferdinand and peter beardsley. Shearer was at Blackbuurn at this time

2004 ALCS. Yankees had the Red Sox dead to rights in the final inning in two of those elimination games and Riveria choked hard. Red Sox would go on to become the dynasty of this century while the Yankees have been a shell of their former selves.

>people still don't crown boston the sports capital

The only other city that even comes close this century is San Fran, but NBA and Boreball titles are worth significantly less than Lombardis.

Warriors losing to Cleveland

As a Texan, it was the Double Choke that was Plano East vs Tyler John Tyler in the 1994 playoffs.

what about the 2019 slip?

DELET THIS

2012-13 Benfica. Lost the league dramatically to Porto, Europa, and Taça Da Liga final at the end of the season

It’s significantly harder to win a World Series than a Super Bowl

Would you that be the 2002 Leverkusen season where they lost like 3 finals in a week or some shit?

Don't mind the flag, not kraut

Wouldn't*

Baseball teams get riddled with injuries?

*slips*

Yes, the season is 162 games long.

Nah loseing the championsship in the last 4 minutes of the season is indeed better.
Also the >Schalke game was already over and they were already celebrating their first league win in almost 50 years.

Tranmere Rovers deserve an honourable mention. January 1st 2013 they were top of the third division. Two and a half years later they were playing in the 5th tier, out of the football league entirely

yeah. man city 2019 slip will be up there

PAOK last year. They lost the league because they terrorized the olympiakos (who was awful at the time) coach before the game started so they lost 3 points without a game being played.
Then they got their second chance against AEK, and when an illegal goal of theirs didn't count their owner came barging in the pitch with a gun. The game was forfeited and AEK was awarded the victory even though the game was at 0-0. That took the difference from 0 points to 6 points and that was it.

Do you understand what the word "choke" means in sports? They literally had no influence on what was going on in Hamburg unless you believe in some metaphysical bullshit. They needed to win their game to have a shot and did so. Bayern fluking into a last-minute equalizer is not Schalke's fault, therefore it's not a choke job.

Lens shitting the bed against Lyon in the very last game of the season.

They had been top of the league since october and their margin on the second team had grown up to 8 points in february. Then they dropped points, but still had a 1-point lead over Lyon with one game left. Which they proceed to lose 3-1 against Lyon.

São Paulo last year

>scripted game

Lol lets see 2004 Lakers
Oilers blowing a 32 point lead
Yankees red Sox
18-1
Bruins blowing a 3-0 lead
Ricky Fowler in every pga event he leads
Patriots in 2012
Patriots in 2017
Manning/Brady 2006 afc title game

Brest 2017 is a close second

Retard

That's completely false

>lol win one game were team could have a shitty night so basically luck determines a winner.
>have to win 4 games over a series

Lol super bowl is the easiest one to win

>2017 patriots
now you;re just baiting

18-1

No the patriots have the "greatest QB of all time" so naturally every loss is a massive choke job

It's significantly harder for the underdog. A multi-game series is significantly easier for the favorite.

>worse than the 2014 slip
That's not saying much. The only reason people still talk about it is because it's Liverpool. United had a worse choke two seasons prior. No one cares because they didn't have a title drought and they won the league the very next season.

tell me a better qb

Uk the most advanced military at the time vs farmers from the 13 colonies

Ajax losing the league on the last of the season against relegation tier fodder de Graafschap

maybe not the worst, but definitely the most memorable

AZ in 2007 is also a good one.
>only have to win against a side that's also bound to play relegation play-offs
>would've been the first title in 26 years
>lose

wyd down under la?

>manning
when will this meme die

Oh, and they lost the cup final a week later too.

It's the truth la.

>United 11/12
>lead by 8 points with 6 games to go
>lose to relegation battlers Wigan
>4-2 up against Everton, miss a sitter for 5-2 and then concede 2 goals in the final 10 minutes to draw 4-4
>blow the chance to seal the title by losing to City 1-0
>end up losing the title on GD mainly because you got BTFO by City 6-1 at home earlier in the season

Liverpool in 13/14 had a 3 point lead (much worse GD) with 3 games to go. All it takes is 1 loss from that position for the title to be out of your hands. If Liverpool/Gerrard didn't have such a lack of PL success, no one would talk about it. The choke in isolation wasn't that extraordinary.

>lose to relegation battlers Wigan
Let's put some context into that result. Man United have played Wigan 16 times in the league. They have won 15 of those matches. That one game where they didn't beat Wigan, they end up losing the title on the GD

>Manning
43-8
