Why aren't women's sports more popular?

So, there's a fundamental wall of entertainment that women's sports has to break down in the masses mindset on sports. I'm in charge of a supporter group for a women's soccer club. I can guarantee I've watched more women's sports in the past ten years than a combined half the world will in their lifetimes.

You don't go to a women's competition to see the peak of human performance (except for a handful, like gymnastics) as you might for men's professional sports. You have to be there for different reasons. Maybe some of the players are hot. Maybe you like seeing the absolute laughable nonsense that occurs in every game, in every sport for them. Maybe you like to see what a sport is like when the players are slower and can't rely on traditional athletic qualities.

In any case, the important thing will be getting the people who think women's sports are terrible something else to enjoy. If it's taken to seriously, literally no one will keep watching. Skimpy uniforms, funny exchanges, and clever solutions to physical problems will win more supporters than anything else.

Women's MMA is getting so good as well. Zhang vs Torres last weekend was the best fight of the night IMO. Fast paced striking, and even during grappling rarely got static like the heavier men's title fights later in the card.

I'll tell you. most women sports tend to be females trying to do male stuff and failing at it, every womens sport that is successful or atleast entertaining is because of the athletes finding a workaround due to either their size or strength difference. Womens' basketball is an example of how NOT to build a brand. The average player is 4 inches shroter than their NBA male equivalent and lack the athleticism to dunk or jump even close to the same way. This causes them to try and do lay-ups and go for 2 and three pointers. All because the basket isn't lowered even 6inches to make it palatable for them to dunk. The basketball they play now is archaeic in comparison to even 1970's NBA. Womens soccer and hockey and softball make certain rules and stipulations that allow their athletes to maintain an upwards trajectory and their talent continues to climb. You could make a case that prime Lisa Leslie is better than any player currently in WNBA right now whereas, in other sports the development has curved so sharpley upwards that a player from 10 years ago wouldn't even come close to competing with current athletes.

Tracy McGrady brought up lowering the basket and the WNBA player got defensive about it. The point of women's sports is to be role models for young girls which is great but if they want to be on TV regularly they must provide entertainment value to the fans of the NBA,NHL,MLS etc.. as a hockey fan, It was Marie-Philip Poulin at 18 yrs old doing shit that hadn't been seen before in womens hockey infront of her home country in 2010 olympics that sealed the end of one era of womens hockey and the beginning of the next. Pretty soon their will be another superstar that will lift it even further

Why aren't the paralympics as popular as the regular Olympics? Cause people want to see the best. Women and cripples will never be the best at anything, if you want to see the absolute pinnacle of intellectual or physical competition, you're gonna be watching males. That's the reality.

It's not that they'll never be athletic enough, but the vast majority of them will never be athletic enough.

Watching men's soccer against women's soccer is two completely different games. That's not necessarily bad, it's simply the reality of the game. The first team that goes full MtF (and I guarantee t that's in the near future) will probably dominate because they will fundamentally play different than every other team and no one else will be able to counter.

The only true way for women's sports to blossom is to focus on competition and skills that women excel at, not make a mockery of them by making them play games the way men play them.
