It's quite funny that those regs were intended to improve the racing, but they actually made it significantly worse. Because the front wing extending past the wheels meant they had the opportunity to sculpt the air around the front wheels. In other words, the teams explored stupidly complex solutions to a problem that shouldn't have existed.

Sure, after 3 laps of overtaking one another, both drivers have tires which are worth about half a shit. You will also lose more time per lap with overtaking, because drivers will be forced off the ideal line after every DRS zone, not just occasionally. Right now the driver who is in front barely loses time defending, the one behind is losing much more.If the one if front loses more time, it makes the pair easier targets for the drivers behind them. Bunches the field up. But, that's just my guess on what will happen with overtaking this year.
