The XFL and AAF are so different that a merger would simply be insane as the XFL is in major cities with NFL teams already mostly present and you have the AAF, who is mostly in markets with no NFL team and is just made to be football, but in the spring.

A merger would require that the AAF stays afloat for long enough to be an actual thing and the XFL also somehow does the same thing and that there's enough consumer demand for both of them that a merger makes financial success.

None of that is going to happen. Maybe the AAF makes it after help from the NFL officially stepping in to make it work as a minor league, but the XFL is completely fucked. They have nothing.
