He's one of the biggest. He's not the only problem but he definitely is the biggest one. And it's not even his shit goalkeeping technical skills that make like 50% of the shots he deflects (because he doesn't block anything) go into goal or straight into an opponent feet. And btw those shots are only the ones that go directly in his face because he has the timing of the Roma-Lido train and can barely make a difficult save (see the first goal when he jumps completely out of time and even EDF admitted that).
But here's the main problem with him: it's been months yet he literally refuses to move out of the goal and I don't mean in a sweeper keeper way, just the normal "the team is on offense so I should take a few steps forward", something that gk are taught when they're kids. That completely fucks up the team balance and makes it easy for opponents to just hoof the ball in counterattack because they suddenly have 25 meters more of space that they can use. They teach this to kids.
Sure you can get around this by playing a with a lower defense (as Roma should in my opinion) but we're talking about adjusting a team whole playstyle because the gk is a fucking brainlet. He comes after two of the best gk in the world, there's a better gk in the bench, but still he plays because EDF is a yes man. So no it's not just us being contrarians.
The only ones overrating Olsen are journos that praise Roma's management and ownership for everything, the same ones that say nzonzi is a great player, Santon is reliable and Pastore will snap out of it in the next few matches.
I'm sure he's a decent gk for a farmers league team playing with the defensive line inside the goal, I'd even say he has good instinct, but he literally lacks the technical and mental skills to be a gk in a top league. Maybe with a couple years on the bench he would be able to improve these.
