Portland is too small. it's like Boston in that respect. and it's becoming trendy now so the population is actually growing for once in a long time. the rent is way too high compared to the job opportunities, nightlife, and awful public transport (or lack thereof). most New England cities seem to be unaffordable but luckily most our cities in Maine have stayed more affordable. it can get boring but at least it's beautiful and you don't have to worry about getting shot, pollution, or traffic.
