I don't know about this narrative....I was a metalhead in the 00s and all the metalheads I was friends with were what most would label "white trash", we weren't black, came from a lower income area, liked metal, smoked a lot of weed and were into boozing and concerts...granted a few of them were more into Slipknot than Iron Maiden because of the timeline, but regardless, it was the same deal.
