Starting bands and age

Metallica were 18 when they released Kill em all.
Kurt was 23 when smells like teen spirit can out.

Im 25 is it too late for me to start a successfull kick-ass rock band with a rebelious school sux attitude?

Only young people should do rock music.

Thurston Moore started Sonic Youth when he was 25 and a lot of their songs are about teenagers.

Axl and Izzy were 25 when appetite came out

>started
Meant to say put out their first album.

Michael Gira started Swans when he was 28

Lee ving was 35 when the record came out
Mick Mars was 32 when too fast for love came out
Lemmy was 39 when motorhead came out

It's less about your age, and it's more about how well you deliver your attitude on a record, cause it doesn't matter if you're 21 or 61, if you're not delivering your attitude in a believable way, then you're not gonna make good music.

When Please Please Me was released
>Lennon and Starr were 22
>Paul and George were 21

Proof that you don't need to be old to do granny music.

Dokken was pushing 30 I think, so was George Lynch
A lot of nu metal bands had members were pushing or over 30

Correct me if im wrong but I think Kim Deal was 25 at the time Pixies was formed

be the Mick Mars, go heavy on the "age compensation by fashion"

Ric Ocasek didn't drop the Cars debut tol he was in his 30s.

James Murphy didn't drop LCD Soundsystem til he was in his 30s.

Good inspirational thread, its never too late to be great.

The Cows started in their late 20s and they're one of the best rock bands ever. Pretty sure the bassist only learned bass months before they put out their first album and he ended up joining the Melvins.

Saccharine Trust guitarist started playing at 27 and Paganicons came out when he was 29

Lemmy was 31

Iirc Matt Heafy wrote Ember to Inferno at age 16/17.

It's only too late if you don't try.

You can either try to start a band or say "nah I'm too old boohoo"

/thread

it's too late because no one cares about rock anymore and as a result you will never be successfull

is it too late to play a teenager in an 80s netflix tv show?

Nothing is too late if you're sincere.
When old people fail at music its often because they're trying to use a person that doesnt fit with the person they really are,and people can tell and find it lame as fuck.Be authentic and you can go anywhere

Just start a kick-ass rock band with a rebellious work sux attitude

Fuck,I meant persona

Babymetal were 12 and 11 when they started out, they sold out the Tokyo Dome on 2 consecutive nights at age 18 and 17.

That being said, never give up user

OP said a rock band, not prostitution-pop

1) Lemmy was 31
2) Lemmy joined Hawkwind when he was 26

Maybe OP can try his luck at prostitution-pop if rock doesn't work out

You should’ve ignored him

Google "Mark Sandman"
Also Leonard Cohen

the LCD Soundsystem guy was in his 30s
I think Gerard Way was like 27 when MCR took off

worked for bowie

but teenagers scare the living shit out of him.

That song isnt even sung from his perspective

it was a joke

No need to be all hostile. OP's idols liked them enough to have them support them on their asia-tour a couple years ago.

this is beautiful user

So? Lou Reed doing a gay voice isn’t a rock band and they did an album with him.

Yeah, Leonard Cohen was like a hundred by the time he'd moved into music. After a while he fucked off to a monastery for an eternity, then came back and lost all his money, then built his legacy back up from zero.

Robert Pollard was 26 when he formed GbV and 36 when Bee Thousand came out.

this lad was only 16 when they formed the best black metal band

Brian Wilson made Pet Sounds at 23. The first song he ever wrote was 'Surfer Girl' when he was 19

Metallica have made a lot of mistakes

Go make a cover band, don't try making actual music because I know just by the shit you mentioned in the OP that it'll be an embarrassingly bad imitation of your influences.

I care about rock and I know a lot of people that care about rock

Decapitated.
On the release of 'Winds of Creation', the drummer was 15 years old, the bassist was 16, the guitarist 17, and the vocalist was 18.
And it's fucking brutal.

Salty Steve or whatever the fuck his name is didn't start his music career until he was past 50 and now he's playing festivals

A little younger, Lepnard Cohen released his first album at 33-after fucking off to Greece for 10 years with the girl who the album is about. Also he didn't write his masterpiece until he was 50

James Murphy was 32, who cares

Sorry correction, Seasick Steve and he was 55 when he finally got his breakthrough. After 30 years of toiling
