Haha epic reddit post my friend

>disliking shitty music for 14 years old is reddit
nin is pretty much 'plebbit: the band' though

Shutup Beavis

Haha cool

ahahhah thanks 4 proving me right ;-)))

you suck

Probably the most immaculately produced rock record of the 90s. Only real competition I can think of are The Soft Bulletin and Boces. Even purely as audio sculpture, even disregarding the actual songwriting and performance(both of which are very impressive in their own right), it's a wonder to behold.
Honestly this is probably one of the last truly great rock albums of the "album" era itself, of bands actually making works rather than just collections of songs.

Look at this fucking loser lmao.

yeah it's trash. the fragile was dope tho

based and trentpilled

shittiest taste i've seen in a while, hope it's bait

Based
Absolutely legendary post

>Honestly this is probably one of the last truly great rock albums of the "album" era itself
OK Computer

he did say "one of the last" but yes, OK Computer is vastly superior to TDS

OKC is up there too. NIN, Radiohead and The Flaming Lips are the gold standard for how to age gracefully if you're a major 90s alternative band.

OKC has good production but most of the songs are boring shite

lmao
DUSTER shits on this

Cringe.

Duster is dull and dry as fuck.

The Fragile is better

t. doesn't know music theory

I think this was supposed to be gritty and in bad taste. Of course angsty teens like it. Fuck all

It's a masterpiece you're a homosexual

Self Destruct comes at you harder than 95% of the 90s rock songs.

Closer has a unique build between its layers and gets to a satisfying climax, also every time he says fuck you like an animal.

Reptile is a less good Closer.

Hurt is amazing sincere minimalist music.

I could lose most of the others.

I rate your taste 0/10.

I Do Not Want This is pretty underrated

Just commit suicide you worthless gimp. You're unlovable and deservedly so.

You should’ve told them to just do it and that nobody cares at all.

HOW DID YOU GET SO BIG. HOW DID YOU GET SO STRONG.

no amount of syncopation and unorthodox chord progressions is going to make Ok Computer interesting.

Most of the time it sounds like some guy noodling in front of a computer after having managed to hook up his guitar to a DAC for the first time and throwing out random riffs and slapping on effects.

>no amount of syncopation and unorthodox chord progressions is going to make Ok Computer interesting
Of course it will. Again, you just don't understand what you are hearing.
>Most of the time it sounds like some guy noodling in front of a compute
Ooops did you confuse this album with Kid A?

Downward Spiral is pretty shit, but it's a masterpiece compared to OK Computer. Now that sucks

Wow imagine actually believing this.

And then your mom yells at you to get up and go to school.

OK Computer is literally the biggest magnet ever created for pleb pseuds. it's fucking mediocre babbys first non-normie album

Yeah OKC has some decent tracks but most of it granny shite

The Downward Spiral is my bible

I would suggest learning music theory. Then you might be able to understand it

>Again, you just don't understand what you are hearing.
I dont need to have a comprehensive understanding of music theory to enjoy stravinsky or schoenberg or even penderecki. I just do.
If you have to contextualise your music in a music theory context for it to have it's intended effect, you're doing something wrong or are so far up your own ass about the importance of your music.
Which I know none of these guys are because none of them have any formal musical education beyond school bands so I am hard pressed to believe anything moment of "brilliance" on that album was intentional.
>Ooops did you confuse this album with Kid A?
I dont know, did I?

Stay mad user

this is a lame ass post

big OKC fan, but music theory doesn't make music good or bad. if it sounds shit to you, it sounds shit to you. you shouldn't change your opinion cuz u it uses (mildly) weird shit.

How did that happen?

>I dont need to
Of course you do. Otherwise you wouldn't understand the subtleties. Case in point" your opinion of OKC
>If you have to contextualise your music in a music theory context for it to have it's intended effect
Why? Music doesn't just simply exist for you to observe; you have to put effort in it. I hope you don't think music is just something you like or don't like.
>because none of them have any formal musical education
Wrong.
>I dont know, did I?
Most likely! OKC was recorded almost entirely live, a band playing in a room.
Incorrect way to judge art. Luckily you just happen to "like" something incredibly important.

Not that user, but knowing music theory doesn’t make music that you don’t like suddenly sound good.

>like
Ooops, found your mistake.

>you have to put effort in it. I hope you don't think music is just something you like or don't like

we do? it's not? fucking wat. your post reeks of useless music major degree from community college lmao

>we do? it's not? fucking wat
Yes. That's how art works.

I guess if you just like loud distorted drums and Trent ranting teenage poetry because it makes you less mad at your parents for making you take out the trash, that's fine. Go to reddit.

But if you want to have a genuine discussion about art, feel free to give it a try. Otherwise, stop trying to talk about things behold you.

>art is not subjective
Oops, found your mistake.

no it doesnt

so you are one of those Music Appreciation professors, just another theorycrafting failed faggot who teaches and "discusses" because he can't do. your only skill is talking out your fucking ass about shit no one really cares about, nice work

>But if you want to have a genuine discussion about art, feel free to give it a try.
Ironic for someone who describes Nine Inch Nails like that.

i know music theory, okc isn't even complicated.
i'm just saying ur lame as fuck for thinking judging good and bad art by music theory is the correct way to do it.

1) music theory is descriptive not prescriptive. using more obscure music theory, isn't the same as using music theory well. the only music that really has prescriptive music theory is old baroque shit, like bach, where there were rules against parallel fifths and shit.

2) OKC doesn't even use obscure music theory. most the songs are common time with primarily diatonic harmony. there's the occasional use of an unusual scale here or there, with the intro to airbag probably being the coolest use of multiple modes/modal interchange in the melody. this, however, is all entry level music theory core. this isn't some ridiculous shitty sounding jacob collier modulation to a half sharp over xenharmonic decending lines with negative harmony and inspiration from the lydian chromatic concept. common time music with modal interchange has been par for the course in rock music since the mid 60s.

3) using music theory as ur primary tool to critique music means you're actually ignoring the artistic qualities that make music impactful. if u wanna dissect how the music works, then music theory is useful. if u wanna critique, u discuss fundamental art concepts like effective use of contrast.

>Of course you do. Otherwise you wouldn't understand the subtleties.
What subtleties.
Go through the highlights of the subleties that makes a comprehensive understanding of music theory so fundamental in understanding Ok Computer.
I have a pretty solid grasp of the fundamentals of music theory so try me.

>Why? Music doesn't just simply exist for you to observe; you have to put effort in it.
Unfortunatly for your argument, it does. At least for 99.9% of the population. What you're asking is for the observer to know how to put together a video game for said person to enjoy it properly. Knowing so usually takes a person out of said experience as you're constantly looking for cracks in the canvas. Which probably happened to you the first time you became painfully aware of the ABABCB pop song structure, what a modulation was or the first time you managed to pick out a 5/8 or 7/8 in a song

Was it a addition or a detriment to your enjoyment of music in general? Did you enjoy it more or did you just feel smarter for being able to?

I find very little intellectually interesting about OK Computer besides that it's a testament to how bands become tired of all the tropes of composition and their own songwriting and decide to get a little outside the box and decided to play a game of "Oh, what usually comes after these three chords? Well lets another chord instead"

Just for the record, I have no love for NIN neither. I have feel nothing but apathy towards either bands. OK Computer is a ok record, there is nothing there for me to hate, but nothing to love either.

lol at all the eggheads who sit around wasting their lives analyzing and theorizing about music and art instead of just taking it in and feeling that shit in your heart, in your soul, and in your fucking nuts. then you look down on others because they don't understand music theory and don't get it man.... fuck yourselves, how bout that?

Trent Reznor's voice was too fucking gay for me to make it through this album

Reminder that The Fragile turns 20 tomorrow.

Duster is nice until you listen to more slowcore.

fuck you

I would listen to celebrate but I'm on a music break to stop from killing my ears
Hey yo Trent post picture with timestamp
