>i was just a kid back then
>my father had this huge lp collection
>mostly local bands and general style rock
>i liked to look at the covers
>some had really colorful paintings and stuff
>one even had a naked girl on it
>i came back to that a lot of times
>my first jack off was in front of the shelf of lps
>not a proud one i can tell you
>but as the years went on i actually started to get more and more interested in the actual music
>i would put on a disk and listen to the title before changing to the next
>i did this with probably a hundred different lps
>then i got to trout mask replica
>i had feared the cover since i was a kid
>the grotesque fish head had scared the living soul out of me
>i couldn't understand why
>it looked like the corniest, humor-core stuff ever
>but i put it on expecting some shitty laugh track rock
>instead i heard the wierdest sounds
>it was not even music, just random noises and in the middle of it some guy trying to sing
>i stopped it, put it back in the cover and never listened to it again
>not for ten years
>but i never could get my mind of it
>what was that sound?
>was it music?
>was it a failed joke?
>the next try i was in my late twenties
>my dad had just passed
>I remembered what he had said when i asked him about the trout
>"that one is a good one son. one day you'll like it, trust me"
>i listened to it on his old speakers
>through the noises a tune started to rise
>i had to close my eyes and sit down
>suddenly i started to hear it
>it started to make sense
>soon i was far, far away
>and all i could see was my dads face
>the first time he understood, the miracle of music
I was just a kid back then
nice story. this album still didnt touch me, but i guess there is something to it
u finally learned how to pretend to like something
;)
quite literally the same story for me, which is a bit scary. Just that I still don't like it but I know one day I will
Dont give it up niggas
>Listening to TMR for the 200th time
>Still sound as orgasmic as ever
That's right, "The Mascara Snake". Fast, and Bulbous! Tight also.
bulbous also tapered
MY SMILE IS STUCK, I CANNOT GO BACK TO YOUR FROWNLAAAND
Was the naked girl the one from Blind Faith? I like that album a lot, especially the bonus disc stuff with the jams. Great music to play while studying or playing minecraft
The easiest way to get people into Beefheart I've found is:
>Electricity
>The Thousandth and Tenth Day of the Human Totem Pole
>The Dust Blows Forward 'N' The Dust Blows Back
Safe as Milk is a better starting point for Beefheart than TMR (don't get me wrong TMR is his best work).
how can you listen to music when playing Minecraft? Does the soundtrack ever become old? I'm still not there
The soundtrack is great but I haven't heard it in years lol. I made a resource pack that replaces the background music with various long tracks (disc 1 of bitches brew, the jams from blind faith, etc). I also replaced the in game discs with various albums (Doors 1 + 2, Pink floyd 1 + 2, titcock, live cream 1 + 2 + the disc from wheels of fire, Led Zeppelin 1 + 2, etc).
One of the albums I've gone all the way from hating to thinking is just okay to thinking is really good just inconsistent to holy shit this is a masterpiece. It really is one of the most interesting albums ever made, like once you finally start to get curious about it it just sucks you in. Once I realized it was actually genius it was all I listened to for like 2 weeks
love your story, sorry for your loss
tmr sounds like you got a jazz album and put it in the microwave for 5 minutes and it got all crusty around the edges
>I dont like it so others dont like it
Hope you make it to the self aware stage of ego development in this lifetime, user
Trout Mask Replica still sucks.
Shut up, Satan
also, a tin teardrop
