This album (which is objectively a boring slog compared to Pop 2) got lukewarm reviews, so he gives it a top score. The new Alex G is critically acclaimed and will probably get a 6/7, if it even gets reviewed at all. You can bet on Fantano giving 6 or 7s to a lot of albums that get 8/9s in other outlets, while he gives out 8/9s to shit that only gets mediocre scores otherwise.
