youtube.com
is there a more incel genre than math rock?
Every night until Primus is recognized as the greatest math rock band ever
I DON'T BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS
I DON'T BELIEVE IN SPITE
THE FUCK IS MATH ROCK?
this
*randomly turns tuning pegs and rapidly taps fretboard to demonstrate*
I DO BELIEVE IN CAPTAIN CRUNCH
FOR I AM THE FRIZZLE FRYYYYY
this track in particular is one of the most math songs. The riff is very angular
I DO BELIEVE IN CAPTAIN CRUNCH
One of the first songs I learned to play slap bass to. Still one of my favorite bass lines in any song ever.
Based. Yeah the bass line is great. Easily my favorite track
Math Rock tunings aren't even that weird usually.
>believed in captain crunch
>did not believe in Honey Grahams
What did Les mean by this?
i mean when i was in a math band we played in standard but all the other bands i knew used all the funny emo tunings
is king crimson math rock and what is math rock anyway?
I mean I guess 21st century schizoid man could be considered proto math
my point was I don't really think primus is math rock, and most math rock prolly isn't math rock
or some shit like that maybe
Math rock is just a really poorly defined genre desu
Primes sucks
I will define math rock:
a subset of rock music in which there is a preponderance of non-standard signature phrasing, especially phrasings in which, whilst not resorting to obscurantist tuplets, a preponderance of the phrasing is notated via subdivisions, and subdivisions within subdivisions, of the basic quarter note of the tempo's sense, giving rise to multiple readings of tempo and variations of speed and typically player with advanced dexterity/technique such that each player is typically playing a multiple of phrasings at once, and which frequently eschew accents on the primary beat, or the dominant reading of the tempo/feel.
Sometimes accompanied by singing.
I guess primus is math rock then.
well I never
No. But Sausage is math rock.
you cant have your cake, put your dick in it, and eat it, too,
>all the songs are in 4/4
>math rock
No
And that's essentially tarnishing their reputation
I don't think you've read the definition properly - its not black and white
anyway the yyz bit isn't in 4/4 so technically you are incorrect.
It's MY DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Les Claypool said that his music is essentially psychedelic Americana, which does make some sense since a lot of old country/folk songs and Primus songs follow the same lyric/story telling format.
Especially big brown beaver, John the fisherman, Jerry the racecar driver, ect.
t. brainlet
>I will define math rock
You sure did. Good job.
Cringe
Chris Ott please leave.
>anyway the yyz bit
Oh you mean the Rush cover that's literally a sample from a live demo they threw on as a joke?
No you are retarded. It is not math rock
Not an argument
no, the definition isn't black and white.
its pure idiocy to say a song in 4/4 cant be math rock. only an immature uneducated unsophisticated uncultured tourist would say that.
would you like to reconsider your statement?
more live avant-funk noise rock
Ofc it’s math. Try playing those bass parts with a drummer if you need any proofs. Always lots of fun.
I don't disagree, but it has however notched itself up into math territory.
you discovered the quantum math-funk gradient.
we will name it after you.
Math rock doesn’t require odd meter
4LYFE
Hi kids, do you like Primus?
Based
Primus is a metal band and chris ott is fat screencap this
I really like when they get into creepy territory like with Mrs Blaileen. Just a sad and kind of sick song about a teacher tormenting a retarded student.
interesting topic for discussion: why isn't primus a metal band?
The only real math rock artists are the guys and girls in their late 20s who upload YouTube videos of them exclusively tapping their guitars.
you forgot to add
>drops mic
>bounces in 17/32
>sotto voce
>diminuendo to silence
