Graham Coxon is my best boi uwu
Based and reppilled
Has anybody figured out his tuning?
RHCP is ultra cringe but John Frusciante is unironically a fucking godly guitarist. He deserved better.
David Gilmour literally sounds like a boomer airguitaring to embarrass his kids, so him.
runner up would be Rick Graham probably
Ritchie Blackmoore for Rock/Pop/Metal shit
Paco De Lucia overall
Thomas Erak
Omar Rodriguez Lopez

been listening to a lot of this dude lately:
I remember some kind of interview where he said he tuned his guitar completely by ear until he liked what he heard. My guess is he sets it up to where its open strum is a tritone or some other really dissonant chord.
Duane Allmans is a close second
Pete Townshend
patrician
also these
I don't have a favorite guitarist but here are some albums with good guitar work:
Parallaxe - Parallaxe
Parallaxe - Score
Owane - Yeah Whatever
Canvas Solaris - Penumbra Diffuse
Gustavo Cerati/Soda Stereo
Herb Ellis & Remo Palmier – Windflower
Underrated as FUCK
>favorite guitar player
Sorry, I'm not 12
hahahha wtf is this q-tip

Nine minutes in. You would be correct about the tritone but it's also slightly out of tune. Lowest to highest:
>E, quarter tone flat
>A, in tune
>E, quarter tone flat
>A, quarter tone sharp
>D#, half tone sharp
>E, in tune
Ernie Isley vro
Schenker is underrated
First unique I've heard in years.

sounds just like Vai
Not really imo. Although the habits that bring that forward I think come from fretless playing.

duh
Having browsed /gg/ for a while on this board, I had a suspicion this is pleb capital. I was proven correct today..
Would consider Devin a songwriter powerhouse even if I dont like his ideas. But I'm not sure he's really all too stand out of a guitarist overall
easy
Boomer board detected. Not even one reference to this living god and gigantic human foot lookalike.

His solo album “Niandra LaDes And Usually Just a T-Shirt” is god tier
*twinf*
Can someone in this thread please tell me why Hendrix is so god damn fucking good? He's my favorite guitarist as well. Can anyone intelligent write with resonating words why?
Robin Guthrie
this fella
Is that a finger pick?
Yes, he did use them at some points. I know that he used one when playing Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others.

Gary is the fucking man. The guy didn’t always write the best songs but fuck if he isn’t the greatest to ever play a guitar.
Michael is a close second, the most melodic player I’ve ever heard. Incredible ability to convey emotion in his playing.
Eddie is somehow both overrated and underrated, everyone knows eruption but the guy is for real an explosive soloist and wrote a lot of great songs.
This guy is my favorite 60’s style guitar player. Jimi was good but I’m not really into psychedelia, Beck is still incredible but fusion can wear on me, Clapton is a fucking meme and always will be. This guy played simple blues rock and rocked the shit out of it.
Frank is by no means on the level of any of the guitar players above. Incredible composer, hilarious guy, okay guitar player. HOWEVER, Muffin Man is one of the greatest guitar solos of all time and he came up with it on the spot, so he honestly has nothing to prove to me.
I believe it. That it's still a bit off shows that he really did just go with his gut, and just happened to like that dissonant sound.
Eddie Van Halen.

I couldn't agree more.
What's hilarious is that Zappa has some of the most soulful guitar solos, despite supposedly not wanting them to be soulful.
Frusciante is absolute garbage, one of the worst guitar players I’ve heard.
For me, it's Adrian Belew.
Jason Becker
Dean Ween for sure

I know all the chords for Sultans of Swing but I can't fucking make it sound the way he does. Great guitarist.
>even now Dhani Harrison is still seething about Prince stealing the show during While My Guitar Gently Weeps
In all honesty, Prince has to be in my Top 5 between that performance and his Super Bowl Halftime Show
> literally sounds like a boomer airguitaring
> literally sounds like airguitaring
> airguitaring
So you hear nothing?
> look a thousand notes per second.
It's always so weird to see somebody shredding so calmly like that.
See
Hes very quick but pretending its absent of feeling would be insulting to the man.
My music collection is 98% rock, 1% country, 1% other.
That said, Brad Paisley is one hell of a guitar slinger.
soulless
>asks for a few albums for the sake of analysis
>Jandek sends him his entire discography on CD
Even if it's pure promotion, that's pretty fuckin cool of him. That guy would've been overjoyed if he sent three or four albums.
