Tekashi distanced himself from the Nine Treys when he cut them all off and went on the Breakfast Club a day or two before he was arrested. Why did he do that? Because at that point he obviously knew the feds were on the move so it was a last-ditch move by him to dump responsibility and distance himself from the Nine Treys. It didn't work.

Also, it was not HIS money alone. He makes none of that money without the Nine Treys. That's the whole point. He made that money because he was backed by them.
