spend at least $1k

i just want to learn and have decent quality for learning purposes maybe this thread was a bad idea why should i spent 1k ? are you saying the guitar i asked is 1k or for me to spent 1k on my first guitar ?

No reason to spend more than $200 on your first guitar. Get a squire strat. Most are perfect for practicing and a used one can be as cheap as $60 on Craigslist

$1k is what you spend if you are going to own that guitar for years and years and years

$200 is what you spend if you might own that guitar for a month and then sell it

a lot of people on Yea Forums are used to doing the latter because being pic related means you don't stick with hobbies for long, and they live with/off their parents so they're still in the mindset where you have to prove yourself to others to earn a nice thing, contrary to the adult mindset where you work a little overtime, get a bonus, and then buy whatever the hell you want.

ty user i am going to look now but not on craiglist i tried selling weights on it the dude wanted to fuck me in the woods

That's a Rickenbacker and there is no way it should be your first guitar like how a Ferrari shouldn't be your first car.

My first car was an MR2 turbo

thats why i wont pay 1k the dude sounds reasonable 200 usd i asked how much the guitar cost because i assumed it was good and not too much shiet

shit i didnt know i will keep it in mind in a usb file if i still play in a few years user ty

Yeah, for your first guitar, don't get a Rickenbacker.

They're overpriced as fuck, mainly because of the connection to The Beatles, and more modern Rickenbackers, like, post 1980's, are just straight fucking garbage guitars. You're paying for a name, not quality. If anything, get one of the knockoff Rickenbackers off Aliexpress for $200-$300, if you desperately want a Rick.

will quality be decent or trash ?

Fuckin A, my first car was a silver 86. It had a 4-speed automatic but it was still awesome.

I’ve got a squire I bought years ago for the cheap and still play it from time to time even though I’ve gotten a lot better and own a nicer guitar now. A first time guitar player spending 1k on something they know nothing about is dumb as fuck

Performing artists tend to own really expensive guitars because they are adults, can afford them, and actually stand to gain something from the high end features

For instance all guitar necks warp or move slightly with the weather. A more expensive guitar neck is reinforced or made from higher quality wood so it barely moves or doesn't move at all, which is a good thing for someone who travels and performs in different places. A more expensive guitar will have smoother, better cut slots for the strings and higher quality tuners that lock the strings down, so it will stay in tune throughout an hour long show. A more expensive guitar will have better shaped, level, durable frets that let you play with low strings for long-term comfort and play for hours a day without having to replace them very soon.

And then you have gibsons and rickenbackers which throw all that out the window and give you a guitar that might as well cost $500 except the coat of paint is more expensive (it's TONE PAINT bruh, vintage car paint makes guitars sound better than modern car paint).

A good first guitar would be a used Made in Mexico Fender Stratocaster, they're around $200-$400 usually, but really good.

The Aliexpress Rickenbackers? They're actually pretty good. Even a lot of the fake Gibson guitars are decent.

Ya'll ever see those Rick's with the bridge scoop that changes it from a 6 string to 12 string with just a level? Seems like it would sound like shit but I can dream.

ty user for that detailed reply learnt something new today

I wouldn't recommend a fender anything to a new player

Get a used ibanez or an acoustic. Flatter fretboards make you play better, humbuckers just plain sound better. Single coils sound like shit unless you are a good player who can also dial in a good tone on your amp/effects, the kind that can make anything sound good.

What about the Mustangs with the P90s in them?

Ibanez GRG121DX GIO, Black Flat ok ?

>shortscale
>noticeable fretboard radius
yeah if you never play anything but that you'll be fine

if you play a big boy guitar you'll be totally lost and wondering why your chords buzz

I've had the same ibanez gio for 7 years and it's still solid and sounds ok. But playing on an ibanez requires you to have good fretting technique and playing posture or you'll get hand cramps.

Are you hardcore enough? If you aren't go to a guitar store and buy the cheapest nylon string parlor guitar.

Hot take: having a "better" guitar won't make you a "better" guitarist.

Start with something cheap and simple. Buy something more expensive when you get good, not vice versa

Remember never to take Yea Forumss buying advice on anything

i am worried some dude is going to try sell me bs i dont need in those sort of stores

>learn on a 9.5" or even 7.25" radius
>play your very first real guitar
>Basic F chord: *bzzzt*
>oh wait lol guess i'm a fender customer for life because i don't want to get better

>and more modern Rickenbackers, like, post 1980's, are just straight fucking garbage guitars

but i should listen to a dude who memes in a music thread but should really be on B with the other degens

Fret buzz is good, it helps you become a better player. I started on acoustic and by the time I got an electric I was past all that shit.

Some Rickenbackers near the 2k price range. Don't get that for your first guitar. Or go ahead if you have a ton of money. You need to remember that you also need an amplifier and that is extremely important.

i am not now i didnt think it would be that much looks amazing though

That's a rickenbacker 620 or 660. They're probably around 2500 to 3000 dollars if not more. Obviously that's too much for beginner, so as others have said just get a Squier. I've heard they've really stepped up their quality in recent years and can even compete with the lower level Fenders. Should be more than enough for a beginner.

Fuck you my 325 is great.
>humbuckers just plain sound better.

Disgusting taste m8.

I don't think they're bad guitars, but like others have said, they're fairly expensive because of the aforementioned Beatles connection and the fact that they're American-made.

>Fuck you my 325 is great.
Yeah, my old man has a 330-12 and it's fine, I don't know what the fuck that guy's on about.

ahh i see the association must of drived price up for years like how the negros made adidas popping in the 70s or 80s right ?

spend a few grand and get pic related, perfect for a novice

kek

What is this for. I get the 12 strong (which I'd love to see him use cause that ain't for shredding) but why two 6 string necks?

different tunings?

I'd love to hear a song where it is essential to be able to switch between two different tunings on electric guitar.

but with imagine both had to 2 hands not sure if they do they sort of walk like spiders
