i'm sure he feels it in terms of stuff like neck feel, fretwork, action height, and finish quality, and i'm sure his new guitars goes longer without needing tuning or any adjustments, but i'm not hearing a tone that would make me more likely to pay to hear him play. it's just different.
Sebastian Morgan
It's a good thing people buy nice shit for themselves and not for you then
keep it. you actually look slightly less retarded with it on

Can someone explain amps to me? I have a H&K and it's very sterile sounding. Someone demo'd one for me at a store and he sounded great so I bought it blind, not really knowing much about amps.
I see a lot of people talking about "Fender tone", "VOX tone", "Marshall tone", etc. I really don't know what I'm looking for but I know my H&K has no character, cleans sound very sterile. Good pedal platform but I seldom use pedals so my sound suffers.
My shop has a few Jazz Chorus amps and I tried out a JC40 and it sounded good but it was awfully loud even at 1 volume. I notice a lot of amps don't let you choose wattage (power soak), is there an alternative?
Basically what should I know about an amp before I look for one to try out? My shop has slim pickings here in Iceland.
im wearing my wife's old pregnancy shirt if it matters

I'm loving my Gibson Sg bass. I'm shooting for that Bob Daisley EP3 through a Marshall tone from Blizzard of Ozz. Bob used one of Randy's plexi for the album and I'm much more a fan of the JTM45. Since the JTM45 circuit is based on the Bassman, is there a way I can supercharge my Bassman with let's say some overdrive or boost pedals to get a JTM45 similar sound out of my amp?
Hey guys, what do you think on the new Tool record lol

a Behringer SF300 (so FZ2) into a RAT clone that I built into a Big Muff Pi Deluxe. The BMP has a switchable filter (that you can also control via an expression pedal, I need to get me one of those) that you can up the resonance on with a small Q and use the frequency knob to get a sweeping band pass filter to give an awesome psychedelic sound. I literally sat there playing the open 6th and 5th strings for half an hour just playing with the knobs on the BMP while the strings rang out with a massive wall of sound.

Sterility is in your techique
metal players often discover it when they play clean the first time, but if you gave a better guitarist their rig they'd make it sound amazing

Does anyone else find more motivation in learning jazz songs or fingerstyle blues than rock songs because there's no accompaniment required?
Jayden Lopez
I think jazz sounds like pussy ass shit played by limp wristed faggots
Eli Harris
I'd feel more motivated to learn rock and metal tracks if I had a band to play with desu
Asher Harris
make your own backings, pussy Program drums and drop a clean guitar down an octave for bass
Ayden Ross
just learn what you like. learn what you wanna play. if you learn to play jazz or classical you'll be able to play anything though
Elijah Martinez
I only enjoy learning solo pieces. Never learned a cover or anything like that. Single parts only interest me when writing my own stuff.
Hudson Turner
If I'm going to go through the effort of making complete covers then I may as well start writing my own songs. What's the easiest way to program drums?
either a keeley el rey dorado or wampler plexi drive can get you there. i don't know how the box of rocks would sound on bass. there's loads of ocd inspired circuits for bass.

What do I do if it feels like I have to put more pressure on my strings to barre than on other guitars (just ones I've played at guitar center)? My strings look higher up too. Haven't been playing long, sorry if dumb question

Better chord voicings done easier since skipping strings it dirt simple without the need for muting. It's the way guitar was truly meant to be played.
Wyatt Howard
skinny top heavy bottoms on a strat? are my strings shit?
i also string up my taylor with the same strings because apparently i'm a fucking savage. what strings would you guys recommend for a 314c?
I don't have pics but: >Walrus Audio Aetos power supply >Digitech Whammy Ricochet >Dunlop 535Q Wah in chrome >Ibanez TS808DX OD + Boost >DOD Carcosa Fuzz >EHX Small Stone Nano Phaser >Walrus Audio Julia >EHX Pulsar Stereo Tremolo >Digitech Obscura Altered Delay
I don't always hook all of it up together, but those are my pedals. I also have an ebow and a foot switch for my Blues Jr. that's equipped with a Cannabis Rex speaker. I just have a clip on tuner for now.
Ryan Reyes
Why is it so hard to play 7 chords on the first few frets
Jeremiah Adams
which seven chords are you trying to play?
Isaac Bennett
F7 bar chord, I keep muting the A string but it never happens if I play an A7 bar for example
Oliver Rivera
Meant to say I'm muting the D string, fuck
Parker Hill
if it's hard don't do it, there's 29 other way to do it
Thomas Morris
It's the only fingering that fits for my song, it's an F->F7, but I could play the F a little different you're right
Michael Gomez
Use the pick + middle and ring finger on your right hand for the F7
James Kelly
I don't know what you mean but I think I'll play it like this after I practice switching to it from some other chords
nice playing but don't forget you're in gear general

This is the first post i have seen that made me happy on /gg/. Dont be scared to use all your fingers. I used to know most of that song. >Walmart Ibanez acoustic pushed up against Yeti Blue microphone.
soulful.
cheap, bad tone is actually just vintage tone. vintage gear was as good, sometimes worse, than today's beginner gear. don't tell anyone i shared this secret with you, and don't forget to say you're using a vintage gibson j-45 and a RCA BK-5A next time.
Yes at first using all your fingers feels awkward but when you get used to it it becames so much easier. Also quietly yet constantly practice tremolo picking starting with pinky and then starting with ring finger. Will help with dexterity on your fingering hand.
I was looking into a kit one. But i think ill bite the bullet and get a router and template body
Noah Edwards
Cheeky bitch.
Jaxson Bell
>Pean still laughing at this
Luke Ramirez
i like cartoons but the previous owner did this and i like how it plays so why mess with it lolthe white onehmm ive never made a kit but is it as hard as it looks?
how do you like that Squire strat? What's the build quality like?
Do you use your pulsar in stereo? If so, is the stereo pan just a gimmick?
>aqua puss >mxr chorus Hell yeah, nice gear. How do you like your amp with your strat?
Wyatt Perry
Condor: At Least We Aren’t Dean!
Sebastian Butler
>the white one There's nothing left on it stock but the wood.
Grayson Parker
hows the wood then? but in all seriousness how was it when u got it?
Luis Carter
The pickups have a weird sound to them so I wish I played it first before getting it. I ordered in off Amazon, and I almost went with a Fender Strat. I'm kicking myself for not doing that, but if you must get Squire I wouldn't get the vintage one. In a spur of the moment decision I thought vintage would have a more authentic sound since it was older, but it's Vintage Modified Strat so it's modern technology mimicking vintage hence the weirdness. It's of sturdy construction...but Made in Indonesia.
David Jackson
red pill me on condor guitars. how would you rank them to say epiphone. can't find much online about them.
Aiden Murphy
I'm not sure it was stock when I got it. Woods good. The only gripe I have it the nut width is narrow.
Brandon Williams
>Pean oh my goodness el oh eling over here

thx man that helped alot might go try one out this week

Are those rails pure mud?
William Gonzalez
lole
Noah Allen
they dont sounds muddy to me at all. The bridge pick up sounds raunchy as hell but the neck sounds clean to me. I guess it would matter more to whoever hears it
Adrian Anderson
Prove that they don't sound like rubbing two balloons together.
i assume these are in the same category as en epiphone special ii, a cort cr 100 , dean evo xm
which shares the same trait these are not made of mahogany
Lincoln Gonzalez
how do you say this? >eh pip hoan
Brayden Edwards
I use the Christopher Parkening Method for my Students. Since I have so few classical students, I haven't had the chance to look at other course books to see if they follow a similar formula in the way I've been able to for standard guitar method books.
Aaron Rodriguez
Pic related is the most based pick and if you disagree you have never tried it.
>what color you want your neck tinted bruh >just give me doo doo brown
Jace Diaz
It's a Squier Affinity body and a Warmoth neck; a CBS era strat neck with goncalo alves back and pau ferro fretboard, stainless steel 6105 frets. The saddles were replaced with brass ones. it's not tinted, stained or oiled at all. also fuck you brown is my favorite color.
Brody Lee
nice user. now get better pickups. i don't have a affinity series tele, but i have a classic vibe tele. heard the affinity have terrible pups in them,
Carter Parker
To be honest, they're not actually that bad. The bridge is decent and I use it sometimes but I really love the neck pickup. However I do want to put a humbucker in the neck, which it is routed for so it should be a drop in. Eventually I'm going to gut all of the electronics and put quality stuff in there.
How's the CV? I considered getting one before the Affinity. But the place I went to didn't have any.
Elijah Thomas
The Strat through the HRD fucking screams, I love it. I had an Egnater Rebel 20 head/cab stack before and the moment I first plugged a Strat into a Hot Rod at my local guitar store I decided to sell the old setup.
Jack Rogers
>How do you fix it? The same way you fix it on any guitar: adequately lubricate the string path, especially the nut. Any LP will stay in tune with a well-lubricated nut. You know, or just lube the nut and not waste money on that.
Eli Carter
they're really nice. i have an older one from 2014. the newer ones aren't made the same since they are made in a new factory.
the pickups are a little hot but they sound great in the neck and middle positions. done a few gigs and recorded a few songs with it. no issues and is a quality guitar for the price i paid for it. i really want to get a thinline '69 telel now though.
Isaiah Rivera
What brand's owners is /gg/ the second most jealous of behind Gibson?
I am trying to do barre chords with the third finger because of reasons, joint of the bone hurts but it's okay, will be worth it.
Levi Diaz
ramones chords?
Matthew Lewis
it's a tie between suhr, schecter, ruokangas, ESP, PRS, and (every other high end electric guitar manufacturer)
/gg/ is just jealous of nice things in general >line 6 sounds just like a tube amp, uh, if you actually gig >real guitarists don't even know what a tonewood is >custom guitar? you can't tell with an electric. might as well get an MIM strat.
Adrian Allen
A song in fucking 150 bpm I have been obsessing over. I have slowly been practicing it, but I just noticed if I do barre chords on one part, I will be able to be faster at a very specific part.
Benjamin Hernandez
why would /gg/ be jelly of tube amps? There are a lot of great and iconic all tube tones under $1000
why would /gg/ be jelly of nice guitars when you can get used ESPs and gibsons for between $1000 and a little over $1500 all day on ebay and reverb?
if the weeaboo neets and mcwagies here can afford to buy them just because of their waifus, not because they're good enough at guitar to justify owning something that costs as much as a used honda civic, it's your own fault if you can't.
well if i played an ibanez wizard III instead of my classic 50s les paul neck i'd probably have the thumb cramps other people here have described so gear does matter a bit
and the paintjob is really pretty. i hang it on my wall when i'm not using it.
Gavin Ortiz
>does gear matter
Will they come out with a pill that makes you tolerate 60 cycle hum? No? Then I won't buy a fucking strat.
Ayden Lee
>There's a common mental block that a lot of musicians will have, they will blame their musical frustrations on minor imperfections of their instruments, like a dead spot on the neck or maybe the action is too high, and they might think 'well if only I had that shiny new instrument, that shiny new iPhone of gear, maybe I'd be happy then, maybe I wouldn't be frustrated and of course that's never the case. The danger here is seeing gear as some sort of panacea for musical frustration, we get so frustrated at ourselves and sometimes we just want to find the easy way out
Carson Smith
It's not because it makes me play better it's because the hum is fucking annoying >BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ yes I would be happier if my guitar didn't go >BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ this isn't a frustration you can practice through i just can't stand the sound of >BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ this isn't like taking the easy way out, you can't play your way out of >BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ you could adjust your technique for any neck and hold your guitar differently you could learn to play with more or less strings you could get used to higher or lower action or a shorter or longer scale or different tunings or the presence or lack of a whammy bar, and whether or not the strings are locked at one end or both >BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ but there are some things your fingers and pick can't get rid of even when you play, even with a constant flurry of >BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ notes it's there, the background noise to your entire life, the fucking >BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ is that getting annoying? it should be, you smug cock guzzling cumbather.
>dang i guess i won't buy that new guitar with a locking tremolo, or even new parts for my current guitar, i just need my bullet stat's six screw bridge. >hold on gotta tune, just pretend this break is part of the song
>Can't tell the difference between defective lower cost gear and decent to good quality gear for a lower price
WHAT CAN YOU FAGGOTS EVEN PLAY?
Nathaniel Reyes
I can play a number of things but I don't pay for defective gear at any price point [true single coil guitars]
Or do you like BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Christian Morris
>good quality tremolos >lower price Any quality tremolo either costs $200+ for the bridge alone for locking trems or $200+ for the bridge along with the locking tuners and the roller nut or the luthier work for cutting the special self-lubricating nut that you then lubricate yourself anyways, just in case.
Or if you need to bend an open string and a fretted note at once while you strum you can always bend the neck?
Saying gear doesn't matter for music because a shitty new player will make anything sound like a squier is like saying cars don't matter for racing because a newbie in a porsche will get lapped by a pro in a honda civic.
It's all fun and games until you run into a pro with a porsche, and then your turbo civic finally throws a rod on the last lap. Someone will commend you on holding your own despite driving a honda civic but in the end, if you weren't a poorfag you would have been 1st.
more like >EXCUSE ME IF YOU CAN'T BE COOL WHILE EATING A BAG OF SHIT DON'T EVEN APPLY >THIS IS ALL TALENT BABY
Evan Miller
Sick lute.
Gavin Cox
>Be poorfag hero racing supercars in your magical 1986 toyota corolla with 1,000,000 tofu delivering miles on it >in the lead due to raw skill, and driving downhill >steering rack breaks in half on the last turn before you set up for your last sick drift >remember this comic before you die >last words: lol nice car fag it won't make you a better driver lol mr "i can afford a steering rack that's less than 50% rust"
Alexander Wright
If you were really takumi you'd break a door off at the last moment and ride it downhill like a surfboard, and therefore win anyways.
Too boring to listen to the whole thing without skipping imo I loved their old stuff
Juan Campbell
Guys where do I start? Got myself a simple acoustic guitar to start learning. should I just start trying to play songs I like?
The justenguitar + mega link are both down.
Justin Myers
I like Yousician, it's $10 a month and their music is terrible, but you'll stick to a routine and become great, just need a microphone or audio input for your autistic guitar, that's it.
Leo Turner
Someone put the links wrong as a joke, it’s justinguitar.com not justen
James Allen
I've heard the electric guitar is still too new for its limits be explored fully, is this untrue for the electric bass?
Samuel Brown
Guitars are the perfect capitalist instrument because there's so many different options and accessories and ways to market them to guitarists.
>capitalism isn't perfect therefore we should rob everybody of their property rights at gunpoint with communism damn... never thought about it like that before...
Michael Moore
Who said that? Just gradually socialise, like Scandinavia.
Liam Peterson
Bassfag here, Im trying to become proficient in all playing techniques and am starting with with tapping and tremolo. Tapping is pretty straight foward and will just take practice but tremolo is a bit tougher since Im using fingerstyle. I can either try to build speed with 4 finger plucking or planting my thumb and middle finger and moving my index finger very fast. Does anyone have experience with fingerstyle tremolo on bass? What would you guys recommend
They are shit though. But that’s the secret. All fenders are low key shit. Not wanting to knock them too much but everything about the design screams affordability
>single coil pickups >plastic knobs >bolt on neck
Isaac Bell
>I'm trying to become proficient in all playing techniques That's your answer right there: learn both. They have distinct sounds and both are useful.
Robert Phillips
how do you guys approach learning a very fast solo with lots of notes accurately?
Brody Carter
Use a metronome. Play it as slowly as you can while getting every note right. Practice as this very slow speed until it's effortless. Increase the tempo in very small amounts, making sure that it's still effortless every time you do so.
Sebastian Long
Nah I'm just saying that next time you get overtaken by GAS remind yourself that you're usually getting played by the marketing jew.
Lmao you will be wishing you had a bolt on neck when your gibson falls over and snaps it's headstock. Single coils are not cheap they have a unique tone. Plus strat can also have HH and HSS config which increases modularity unlike a les paul. Plastic knobs I guess is true but abalone or whatever high end bullshit would look tacky on a strat
Lincoln Garcia
Bolt-on necks are best when you fly. Just take it off and wrap it in clothes, instant indestructible guitar.
Juan Lee
>"Im trying to become proficient in all playing techniques" >Refuses to use a pick You should try a little harder, then.
Elijah Walker
How about no?
Carson Lopez
Nobody cares.

Was playing around a bit with weird chords and made a melody over it by ear. Any potential here or does the melody suck? clyp.it/onswthjj
