Why are black metalfags the most insecure of all fanbases? Even when it comes to metal, they're like a fucking child, despite the fact that the main fucking part of black metal, the vocals, will always prevent it from becoming mainstream. But if an album has decent production or more than 15 people talk about it, they work into a lather.

The people listening to Deafheaven usually don't dive deeper into the genre, maybe listen to Filosofem once. It's bands like Mgla, Agalloch, or Wolves in the Throne Room that bring in the worst fans.

Lots of bands did the same thing that Deafheaven did , they didn't even create the Genre, Alcest did, and Wolves in the Throne Room was doing something similar before them.

The difference is that you didn't have Pitchfork drones coming in telling Black Metal fans that those two Bands are the best BM bands , Black Metal fans even liked Sunbather untill all the Indieheads started treating it as "the only good Black Metal Album"

I think Deafheaven and CoF appeal to different crowds. While CoF are mainstream, they are at least still metal and they bring in more metal fans. Deafheaven fans are just indie rock hipsters. They are both mainstream. CoF have a longer career and have probably beat Deafheaven in terms of overall popularity. But Deafheaven brought the worst fans to the genre. And for that, they suck in a way that CoF does not.

I am 28 and started listening to metal when I was 13. I'm just saying, the whole wave of indie rockers in metal really are making terrible music. I just ignore it because there are plenty of good bands still out. However, these new kids make the shows absolutely suck, even the underground ones. They just have the wrong attitude for the genre. They ruin shows, bitch about absolutely everything, and get anything they don't like shut down. I can't even wear Burzum shirts anymore without some little faggot trying to lecture me. CoF fans never did that. They just shopped at Hot Topic.

I'd take the hipstershit indie pseudo-black metal of Deafheaven and Liturgy over the wimpy mallgoth Hot Topic scene fag black metal of Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir any day... and I say this as someone who's really into war metal like Archgoat and blackened crust like Martyrdöd. The only glossy mainstream black metal band I'm actually a fan of is Behemoth (though Panopticon's also getting bigger, and they're great).
