OP It's okay, It really doesn't matter what other people think, this album is worth praising over and over because It is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.

Not really the same, but still in the post-rock genre I would say.
As for this type of post-rock nothing comes close, some other Godspeed albums are great of course. Their first one is the contender and for me personally, I love Allelujah! as much as the first album.
Also Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky are great in their own way.

Maybe I should listen to this album again, I remember back when I was 15/16 sitting in the dark making awesome music videos in my head with it. Bretty epic shit not gonna lie

if you're fine with IDM elements, Hurtbreak Wonderland is great

first time I saw them live, they played at the end of the (fucking two hour long) set. It works much better without the spoken word bullshit, and was a fucking amazing climax.

I'm genuinely not. I love repetitious, droning rock music. I love stuff like to be kind, and GYBE's other work. This album is just..so obnoxious though. I'm not joking, man. The melodies are terrible. And they're repeated over and over and over...It's like they're trying to create music to explicitly be "epic". God Storm just fucking annoys me

The string instruments with the fucking drums fills ugh. The wailing guitar lead is cool. But the lead melody that keeps being repeated through storm is fucking ANNOYING. it's like a hans zimmer song except shit and rock

I've seen them play it with the recording a couple of times, it was great. Surprised it's considered a bad song here

This is the only album of theirs you need. Everything else is just more of the same or longwinded bullshit.
