HEADPHONE ADVICE

I need some help. I was thinking about getting the Skullcandy Crusher 360's for the bass, along with the Momentum 2 for the sound quality and style. And just recently the Momentum 3's came out. What should I do? I really need help deciding.

I've heard shit on here about the Skullcandy brand. But on every single review i've seen nothing but praise. pls exblane user

They're shit

god DAMN IT user.
should I get the momentum 2 or 3?

Open (Strings/Vocals):
Sennheiser 58X
Sennheiser 6XX
Hifiman HE400i

Closed (Bass):
Creative Aurvana Live!
Audio Technica M40X

IEMs:
TIN T2 (with foam tips)
KZ ZSN Pro / KZ KS10

I do not understand any of that information

All of these are either headphones or iems (basically earbuds for professional use).
They're all good choices. If in doubt, get the Creative Aurvana Live! or the KZ ZS10.

Okay i'm gonna see some reviews and shit and i'll be back

Already checked! I was thinking of something within the 400 dollar range (meaning: the best quality I can get without going above that)
I thought Sennheiser was the best headphone brand so I thought the momentum 2s or 3s were a safe choice

Headphones reviews are a fucking meme. You're basically watching sellers trying to convince you to buy crap. Don't also fall for the frequency graphs meme either. It doesn't really tell how they ACTUALLY sound, it just gives a small hint as to what they lack (bass/mid range/treble).
Best way to pick a headphone is to try them yourself.
>400$
If you listen to more strings/vocals-oriented music get:
Hifiman HE560 V2
If you listen to bass-oriented music get:
TR-X00 Mahogany from massdrop.

The 6XX bass is fine. Definitely light years ahead of skullcandy bass. If OP wants to save some money he could cable mod MH755s.

Get some decent headphones

You really can’t go wrong with a pair of HD6XXs. Just don’t forget a dac and amp.

>Best way to pick a headphone is to try them yourself.
Of course. I'm making this thread and finding info because I can't try them or test them. I need to be as informed as possible. I will check your examples right now!

Don't know what dac means! Not a headphone expert nor familiar with the lingo, just love listening to music constantly

A lot of people say that you need to use an amp to listen to "THE TRUE" HE560 V2
And my intent is to use them casually every day to listen to music while walking or just basic everyday life. Are those better than any sennheiser? Like m2 or m3

So, DAC stands for digital to analog converter. Headphones and speakers are run off analog signals. Microphones create analog signals. Analog power physically moves matter to produce sounds. Digital signals are used by computers to store and work with audio. Your computer and phone use a DAC to turn these digital signals, the digital files, into analog power that can run speakers, headphones, or earbuds. The DAC built into your computer is pretty shit, so people buy and use external DACs. An amp just increases the power of these analog signals so that they can properly power headphones or speakers. If an analog signal isn’t very strong, it doesn’t have the energy to produce a loud sound.

560 V2 has an impedance of 45Ω so no, you don't (higher the impedance the better AMP you'll need). To put this in perspective, most headphones (not earbuds, these are lower) have a impedance around 20Ω to 38Ω. At 45Ω you'll still be fine without using an AMP, it will just sound a tiny bit lower than regular headphones that you might have so just increase the volume. Thing is, if your PC/laptop/phone is VERY shitty chances are, it can't provide enough power to your headphones so you might need an AMP if that's the case.

Also, you'll only need a DAC if your laptop/phone/pc whatever has a really shitty one built in (unlikely nowadays) that being true could result in static noise/grainy sound and basically a lower audio quality overall. But honestly, it's 2019, don't bother.

And a ton of people praise top 40 songs, but here they’re considered to be pretty shit. Different context/standard

You're looking specifically for Bluetooth headphones it looks like. So Yeah, the Momentum 3s would probably be good. The Sony WH1000XM3s have gotten good reviews as well. The m50x BTs are obvious to recommend since it's just M50Xs with added Bluetooth functionality. But really you should be as specific with your price range and needs as possible because after you said what headphones you were already looking at, people were just recommending whatever the fuck and it doesn't seems particularly helpful. Frankly, I'm probably not being THAT helpful either. But it feels like I did more deduction than the other anons.

Anyone tried Focal Listen? Ive used them quite a bit and honestly am satisfied with both quality of sound and built. However ive never used any other headphones for 150$+. Any opinions from someone experienced?

honestly, how much am i missing out on by using these under 10 dollar earbuds?

Alright where are you guys getting your sennheiser momentum cable

Try the KZ ZSN Pro it's basically just double the price than that but at least a thousand times better.

In the trash among with the headphones themselves.

I've been using cheap earphones for all my life but always wanted to buy the ath-m50x, finally I have some spare money to buy them, problem is I don't know if it's a good purchase in current year.

get a nice set of speakers instead

Waste of money. See

does it really make that much difference though if you're just listening to music casually?
thanks for the advice btw

dude just buy the ath-m50 already jeez

>Walking around
>Get speakers

If you want to go for this get 2 JBL Arena 130 boxes + banana cables and an AMP (otherwise you won't be able to use them). Just don't waste too much on an AMP, you just want to power the damn speakers.
See Yes. Specially since these cheap ass earbuds have really shitty pairs of single speakers.
Meanwhile, KZ and TIN Audio are selling 70$+ worth buds for less than half the price.

Thank you so much! Yeahh i forgot to be specific with the price in the OP, my range is around 400 bucks

Also a lot of anons made the misunderstanding that I want them for professional use! My bad

Your computer will be able to power a pair of HD6XXs but they won’t sound good. OP would be fine with one of those cheap DAC/amp things.

does getting a decent setup actually make that much of a difference? i just use a pair of hesh 2 skullcandy headphones and haven't had any issues.

holy fuck yea, you're listening to mud

what would you recommend? I've got a bit of money but i dont want to spend a shitload

What about in the 200 dollar range?

fpbp

How much money, you'll need at minimum 800$ to get a good setup going

holy shit, i didnt realize how expensive this stuff costs, ive got about 200-300 i can spend, would it be better to wait and save up the extra cash?

>800$ minimum to get a good setup
No user, he's retarded. See and

>The Sony WH1000XM3s have gotten good reviews as well
I'm getting a pair of those soon (for free basically)
I've been using those normal apple earbuds all my life so how big of a difference do you think I'll be able to hear?

>I was thinking about getting the Skullcandy

Attached: 1564419994040.jpg (700x734, 80K)

>TIN T2 (with foam tips)
Why is /g/ shilling these shitty meme IEMs everywhere?
Fuck off.

*slaps your gf's ass*

Too expensive for OP
Also fucking stupid. My HD6XXs + Schiit stack are a great setup, and they cost half that
$300 is fine. If you can’t afford it/have to save up for it you shouldn’t buy it.

I bought my Momentums for 35USD at a pawn shop. I think they sound great.

these are the best phones i will ever use

it is very bassy

Attached: philips_fidelio_x2_4.jpg (4189x2357, 2.77M)

don't get meme gayman brands like skullcandy and don't trust non-audio specialist reviews
amps dacs and all that shit matter much less than the headphones themselves
also try out headphones before buying them, audio preferences are pretty subjective

when in doubt just buy the ATH m40 or something

I bought the Momentum 1 when they first came out, think it was around $150 or so new. I hated them though, they were way too small for over ear headphones and hurt my ears because they didn't fit right. They discontinued them though and made the 2.0 ones which were much bigger and all around better quality.

I bought these, howd i do?

I never tried them so I wouldnt know
They look great and probably sound great
What are your impressions
