I'd be pretty thrilled if black people would go back to making rock. I really like rap, don't get me wrong, but it's weird to me that rock has to be such a white genre

Same here but just know that white people never kicked them out of Rock N' Roll. Black people either didn't want to share the genre with white people or what I think most of them did was follow different styles of the time like Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, 1980s Quiet Storm kind of styles, New Jack Swing or whatever. They are famous but the Jews who own record labels don't sign them. Black people were always welcomed to make Rock N' Roll, they just lost interest for some reason but I think younger black people in our generation gravitate towards Rap because it's about making money. You can't really make money with Rock music like you do with Rap. If you make Rock nowadays you're going to be underground and you're doing it for the fun of it basically.

At the time of rock becoming a thing, say, 1954 to 1957, you had Little Richard, Chuck Berry, and Fats Domino. Right there at the outset. Listen to the original Little Richard stuff. That shit is RAW. EVEN BY TODAY'S STANDARDS, his songs are kicks to your face with a steel tipped boot.

That said, just WHY did blacks cede rock to whites by 1960? It's a damn mystery. Maybe their own racism jumped in when they saw whites liking it so much. Maybe they decided it was time to move onto something else. Perhaps it's no coincidence that Motown debuted in 1959.

They gravitate toward those other genres because they actually are "black" genres - rap more so than funk and soul. As soon as rap will have become sufficiently white, they will start making some other kind of music - unless of course the whites involved in rap are white only by skin color anymore.
