Some good source materials ruined by shitty meme idiots. Welcome to the internet

HOLY FUCKING SHIT PLEASE JUST MOVE ON FROM THIS MEME GENRE ALREADY. IT WAS MILKED TO DEATH SEVEN YEARS AGO.

Futurefunk was a by-product so it was necessary and a few cool projects came out of it

i think a thread about a niche genre like this requires some actual effort from the op

Daniel Lopatin's Chuck Person tape is a watershed work of musical art and should be talked about, listened to, and analyzed for a long time.

I think the work of Vektroid is also important, but less important than Eccojams.

Everything else I think is pretty obviously one-note or unfairly categorized as vaporwave, like James Ferraro--definitely not vaporwave.

And for that matter Daniel Lopatin's Eccojams tape is ground zero for vaporwave so it's kind of unique in its own right.

I'm feeling nostalgic for vaporwave

Eccojams is important. I don't want to talk about the hangers-ons at all, but the inciting records that would eventually be called "vaporwave" retrospectively are groundbreaking.

Good shit but you have to actually look

It was totally misunderstood by the audience it inexplicably found, which was internet-bound teenage alterna-teens. Even the dipshit music writers who tried to champion it and get credit for discovering it and codifying it got it wrong in their race to break it as a genre.

And then the genre was flooded with those same alternative kids making wallpaper music with vintage digital textures. I made a video about it once that was kinda popular.

Why can we just have cut up field recordings mashups instead

Link to the video?

So make some

I deleted them but someone posted them a few years ago.

synthwave will always be better and more original

>more original
you can like synthwave more dude but this is just wrong

while most synthwave does use parts of other songs vaporwave is (for the most part) just slowed down 80s pop

that just means you haven't heard good vaporwave

synthwave is a lot more uniform than vaporwave
you dont seem like you know what youre talking about

vaporwave as a term is so much more broad than synthwave.

Not that guy but I had the same impression, with vaporwave just being slowed down premade songs, basically the musical equivalent of pop art. Can you suggest some good 100% original vaporwave please?

sampling is fairly common in most vaporwave, though this varies wildly. either way get rid of the notion that sampling = bad, lazy, unoriginal etc.
anyway heres a list of classic/well known albums that aren't going to sound like what your probably preconceived notion of the genre is.

Surfing - Deep Fantasy
ghosting - telenights
golden living room - welcome home
groceries - yes, were open!

You're an idiot.

also any death's dynamic shroud.wmv album, which is probably the best the genre has to offer.

Don't shave your chin

It it good, but it is based on samples.
Angel is probably the most conspicuously chopped and screwed track on it and one of my favorites
