Sammy Hate comes down to the softer and cleaner direction the band went in, and misplaced hate because that was Eddie's decision, he wanted to move that way, Sammy was just the guy they hired to fill the shoes but VH fanboys would rather hate Sammy than Edward for obvious fanboy reasons.
I can understand it, I just don't care because I got into Van Halen long after they were culturally relevant so it's not a war I ever had to fight in high school or some shit or be salty that the kids I hated now liked the band I liked. Love both eras for what they are.

Eddie stopped innovating when Sammy joined the band. At that point he just wanted to play keyboards and write love songs for Valerie.
Eddie has always been the problem. Hes a moody, passive aggressive prick. Granted, Dave I think legitimately thought he could make it on his own, but he was tired of Eddie crying all the time and fighting with his brother.

Literally all popular music is a rip off of what was started in America, and literally the only time it was done better was then the brits got a hold of American rock music and birthed the most important artists as well as the genre of heavy metal. Other than that, there is nothing.
