Whatever happened to shareblogs?

I feel like it's been years since I've seen one updating regularly. Is it just too much work in this day and age?

Nice image though
Also, you just gotta find a niche blog for the music you like and there'll always be at least one that's good

I would guess that the platforms crack down on them harder. Plus we had a short timespan where they weren't needed because centralized platforms were widely available and tolerated. They might become more popular again as those are cracked down on.

If that were the case, wouldn't the old ones that don't update anymore but have working links be removed?

Is this just a thinly veiled attempt to get links?

Yea Forums a cute

it's 4channel now

no im not

kys dilate your cringe cuck desu

It was mostly just shit from Soulseek anyway

I don't really want to surf slsk choosing files by name. Shareblogs were useful for discovering music.

This. The industries don't allow what was once taken for granted in terms of discovery, for music or film. There is no legitimate way to get some foreign or art stuff, and most radio stations and music culture venues are effectively running off a Clear Channel list. It used to be that late at night normal radio stations would play more exotic, longer-running, less well known music.

every blogspot that had shitloads of great music with mediafire links are dead. that shit was awesome back in the pre-2013ish internet. idk exactly they went belly up

Use the updated version fag

i miss finding weird ufo angelfire blogs late at night. i miss obscure noise industrial tapes blogpots. i miss old youtube rabbit holes

Right now tthe web is like 10 big sites. And that's depressing.

We couldn't protect her smile :(

what's happening in the left side of the bottom panel? It looks like Discord chat and there's a vague silhouette of some person

found it

All of the large, relevant boards have a discord chat setup to plan/force upcoming memes. You've seen those terrible doomer variants I'm sure.

It's disgusting really

You say this but I remember making a similar post back in 2008, saying people had stopped making actual websites in favor of blogs. Still think the shareblog shit was pretty inconsequential other than the occasional item that wasn't already available on Soulseek, plus it was slower since you had the 60 second waits and shit

And regarding "discovering" stuff, that's what sites like Discogs and RYM are (and were) for

And the fact that Yea Forums is the best one of those sites speaks volumes. Fuck this. Really don't know where to go.

It really is sad.

start a sharethread and hope someone shares what you want

If you like post-punk, new wave, neo-psych, synthpop, twee, or any other kind of weird British music from the 80s this blog still updates most days, it's all the guy's personal vinyl rips though so eventually he'll probably run out of material. Also the stuff towards the beginning of the blog is a bit more obscure and valuable than some of the stuff he's been posting lately

do you have more blogs

Wow it's almost like the world is getting progressively shittier and our stupid hobbies have declined to the point where they can''t distract us from it anymore

18+ website

Thanks user. It really means a lot.

Most of the ones I'm on are private/invite only with multiple rippers contributing, but this one is a guy's personal restorations of psych vinyl
