Burzum is fairly overrated I'd say, among certain crowds.....aka Yea Forums and other "hipster" hubs where people just cling to whatever seems fashionable. The general metal listening audience doesn't give much of a shit about Burzum outside of Varg's own niche crowd of Norway fetishists in the grand scheme of things and there are far more overrated bands who are way bigger than Burzum and might even deserve that fame less (FFDP comes to mind)

I disagree varg inspired alot of people in a genuine way myself included. the dark lo fi atmosphere, the dark fantasy and pagan lyrics, great riff writing, subtle synth work all that stuff is so well done and so innovative. I even like the repetitive moments. there is huge hype around burzum though and I see your point, specifically around filosofem which is hugely overrated. but i believe he is a true pioneer and rock and roll legend.
