Genesis

What does Yea Forums think about genesis? I mean the 70' stuff not the 80's pop rock shit.

Who?

I Iike aII 3 eras.

GabrieI/Prog Era
PhiI's Pop Era
CaIIing aII Stations Era

AII three are fantastic in my opinion.

SeIf-titIed is underrated, and so is Foxtrot.
And then there were three, is a great middIe ground

I really don't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual.

ugh prog is so lame

Honestly its just to deep to scratch the surface. Every time I start listening to it I just get confused and wake up the next morning still drunk

There's something about mindlessly rating music that really disgusts me. I don't know why.

Firth Of Fifth is the greatest song of all time

You wrote "The Cinema Show" wrong.

amazing band. foxtrot, selling england, lamb lies down is one of the best runs of albums in music history.

Supper’s Ready is the best long prog epic i’ve heard

this album is excellent, as are a few of the ones preceding it and one after it.

It's the big prog act that I like the less of the big 4.
But I'm trying to appreciate it more lately
>3 stars
>The same album with absent friends, Harlequin, The Fountain of Salmacis
Kys

>Not "The battle of the Epping Forest"
But we can agree more fool of me is the worst ballad of the band, right?
A shame, since the ballads of Nursery are perfect.

CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE MY COUNTRY LIES

SAID THE UNIFAUN TO HIS TRUE LOVE’S EYES

TAKE A LITTLE TRIP BACK

Always loved them, Firth of Fifth is the first song I ever remember hearing in my life. While the Steve Hackett era is certainly the best, I find the older I get that there are a lot of good numbers from the later years too. Down and Out, Undertow, Mama, Home By The Sea/Second Home By The Sea and most of Duke in general are really solid.

>Explain yourself
"Oh, shit, Phil quit. We need a singer!"

Parts of Lamb outshine it, but as a single composition, it's never been matched. Yes came close at times. Thick as a Brick is close, the first half, anyway.

Great band, there's stuff in every era I love, even the pop era - Domino, Driving The Last Spike, Dodo, all solid songs. I saw them on the Duke tour (yeah, I'm old, deal with it), and it was a great show - not as great with Hackett and Gabriel onstage, but still. Chester Thompson live is a beast.

Them and Tull. I like all of it. Yes, I get iffy with some albums, like Tormato, but Genesis, I have all of them, even Stations. And the box sets. If you like Genesis, get the book "I know What I Like" by Armondo Gallo, it's a picture heavy book of their early career. It's out of print, so copies run around $50-100. Worth owning.
