the lines are terrible because if there's a kaka lump in your panties, then it's see through and made worse by the EVH lines

Friendly reminder that the Ibanez Edge Original (and Lo-pro) is widely considered to be a better, more stable bridge than the Original Floyd Rose Discuss.
I think Matt Pike was playing one of these when I saw them this past tour.
They're a Bring Me the Horizon lol signature model I think.
Henry Nguyen
How do I find a band to play with? I'm not a virtuoso but I could be the Izzy to someone's Slash.
I tried the local listings but it seems it's mostly just zoomer shit and 'serious' musicians. I just want to play music, get drunk, and have a good time.
Matt has the original one from the 70s. But yes, this one of the Bring Me The Horizon sig models
Dylan Hernandez
Look on craigslist or another classifieds page. Go to your local music store and just see who plays well and ask them if they ever thought about forming a band.
Cool, you've got a coil cut and p90 though. That's nice. Award winning British metal band Bring Me the Horizon really knows their stuff.

Anyone here use a boss ns 2? Can i use it to suppress noise from my pedalboard and amp noise or is it one or the other?

No, these are for floor noise only otherwise your tone suffers a lot.

going to uni to study music in 2 days, any advice/tips? from what i understand, building connections and contacts is the biggest benefit of going to music school. Yes I know >music degree, I was about to throw my life away in the military so I thought why not give it a shot anyways. also, any anons in plymouth uni?
>I was going to throw my life away in the military, bit now I'm going to throw it away in music school instead!

Blake Lewis
I’ve got a shitty HH jazzmaster that I want to throw some new pickups on, anyone have any somewhat affordable suggestions for humbuckers? (I mostly play noise rock and goth stuff)
I enjoy bluesy rock but I could never get into SRV. His phrasing just seems really lame and boring to me.
Gary Moore and Roy Buchanan were far better.
Owen Flores
forgot the last path in life, >succeed in music >brag about it on Yea Forums >no debt that'll definitely happen :^)

this lol. he is already considering that he will fail at uni lmao

Do you ever get depressed when you think about everyone better than you? I think it's a negative thinking trap called compare and despair. I saw a video of a 5 year old in Guam shredding paganini. Tfw depressed I will always suck.

I am looking for recommendations for cool solo acoustic guitar songs to learn I don't listen to that much music so I don't really know where to start finding cool stuff to play I tried looking at what justinguitar has on his site and I learned tears in the rain
other songs I can play to gague my technique level: Drifting - Andy Mckee (only percussive song I know) Minor swing solo - Django Reinhardt Viking man - Rodrigo y Gabriella

The only electric I have atm is an epiphone SL it's a piece of shit in terms of tuning (and everything else), goes out so quickly

>any advice/tips Yeah I did a degree in music at one of the top unis in England. I realised that I hated music and musicians after a while though and didn't want to pursue it as a career.
I would say that your main priority should be to create shit and put it out there. The best time to do this is at the start, don't get involved in the drinking culture, try not to drink if you can. However, still go socialise and build up a lot of friends who will like and comment on your music. Just try not to worry about looking stupid and actually do stuff, the degree itself is useless. The time you have to work on your music is invaluable, so really try hard to make stuff you like. It doesn't matter if it is shit, as long as you are actually getting out and playing. Look for open mics nearby. Look for places you can perform publically if that doesn't apply. Actively seek out bandmates if you want a band. Figure out what kind of band you want and specialise in whatever you think your role should be in the band. Be organised. Be in control. Drive shit forward because music students are not reliable and you have to be on their back a lot of the time to get shit done. It's good to produce something shit at this stage. The stigma won't stick with you forever as being shit if you continue producing stuff. people will respect that more than anything.
Get involved in student radio and stuff, it will get you contacts in the student union generally, and they're good to have in this kind of thing. collab as much as you can with people in general across different disciplines.
Idk good luck though This is pretty generic advice, but its true. Just try hard and what happens will happen. If you don't try then nothing will happen.
Chase Rivera
Teles are the ultimate comfort guitar shape
Christian Rogers
Here, try playing this small excerpt and post a sound clip of it.
Fenders are masochistic garbage guitars and I respect anyone that can get a good sound out of them, because if you gave them a normal guitar like a les paul they'd out-shred everyone on the planet.
Carter Walker
Fenders bridges and volume knob placement is so retarded.
I blame traditionalist boomers.
Nicholas Mitchell
That song sounds kinda like Gorillaz. Call it Kaka Inc.
Evan Fisher
The funniest part is they were just designed to be cheap. Leo never tried to make them sound good, they were utilitarian devices. He was always an amp builder first, he made good sounding amps and never expected great tone from an electric guitar. The guitars sounded blah.
Jonathan Sanchez
$1500 will buy a lot of great shit, stop looking at "industry leaders"
Wyatt Harris
As much as Gibson is currently relying on their brand, there certainly are features that actually justify the price tag, like a proper finish and a set neck.
Since Fenders were made for the sole purpose of mass production, it's probably the main reason why people say there's barely any difference between a MIM Strat and a MIA Strat. Also, fuck that disgusting quacky singlecoil sound.
Chase Myers
wtf i hate prs now
Michael James
Finish has nothing to do with it
Though bolt ons were a good idea, fender rarely made them with a tight, proper fit with a neck mated specifically to that body so they never stood up.
Justin Lee
>nitro lacquer >proper finish
listen faggots it is literally fucking car paint it was car paint when it came out and it's car paint today, only used because it dries faster than the alternative
guitars not finished with varnish or oil might as well be coated in plastidip
Ian Rivera
The only good single coil pickup is the strat middle and all guitars should use an HSH hardtail config.
Jayden Price
You forgot shellac.
Unlike nitro it doesn't cause cancer.
Jace Roberts
Not him but got any recommendations you wouldn't otherwise think of?
Jeremiah Thompson
the vast majority of custom shops. decide on your guitar and start calling luthiers for quotes, or build it from parts via warmoth.
Aiden Rivera
Finish was the wrong word to use. I mean stuff like a proper burst, binding and inlays that are anything but dots. If I'm gonna pay for a higher range instrument at least make it feel a bit more premium even if it's made in a factory by Mexicans.
Jace Lee
Would you say that they're better quality-wise than regular industry standard guitars? Or is it just that the personal customization justifies the price?
Asher Ward
they are beyond better quality wise. a factory guitar is made on an assembly line with one tired faggot after another operating the same station all day and small cohort of "master builders" doing QC and finishing. at least every other guitar will have a quirk like a misaligned dot or a run in the paint even if it's made in your favorite first world country. and why would they try and catch that? they make thousands.
a custom guitar is only made once, almost entirely by hand, and if they fuck it up they receive a scathing review that makes their shop sound like a cut rate garage operation. and despite that you save money because the markup from logistics, bulk materials processing, and retail is nonexistent.
Chase Gray
You notice the benefits of a Luthier made guitar in acoustic guitars far more.
Jeremiah Bailey
that's because electrics are toys and you're just paying for looks
Asher Nelson
You definitely convinced me to a some degree. I'll be fucking about with the Warmoth builder for a while. Do you have a custom guitar yourself?
Matamp Greens are the king amps of any stoner metal band.
Liam Hernandez
Dumb waifufag guitars for loners to feel closer to their anime girlfriends with: Gibson Les Paul Gibson Flying V Gibson SG ESP M-II Fender Mustang ESP/Charvel Random Star Gibson ES-335 Gretsch White Falcon Strandbergs
Chad guitars: Fender Strat THE Telecaster Gibson Explorer Gibson Firebird Dean Cadillac Jazzmaster, Jaguar Ibanez RG, JEM Music Man JP Majesty
That's like saying gibson is for poorfags because the tribute, faded, etc ones exist. Look at the prices for real schecters. They've always been a high end brand. the "diamond series" guitars are a disgrace, just a hodgepodge of CNC options stolen from LTD because they're technically owned by ESP. They should really only have the Japanese production models and the US custom shop, but sadly, because of the jews at fender and gibson standardizing and using outsourced labor extensively, you have to have outsourced garbage made under your name if you want to compete in the guitar industry.
and seymour duncan shouldn't even be on that list >durr but bare knuckles are better charging more than $25 per pickup is already extravagant. >tone wind counts! >tone wax potting! >tone bobbins! >we guarantee your tone will be the same as this rock star!
Jack Rivera
>$10 of copper wire and a $5 circuit board in an epoxy-filled plastic box >makes any guitar/amp combo sound like a line 6 helix aka sound effects unit instead of a real, organic, musically useful instrument with good tone >$109 ea.
Dries faster - and just as important, can be sprayed. Lacquers and varnishes need to be hand rubbed or brushed, sanded, and then polished. Nitro was used for a lot of things, not just cars - it replaced japanning in tools and industrial equipment because it could be sprayed and was better wearing. Plus, it was cheaper to make, good lacquers are made from more expensive base ingredients, like bug poop, for traditional lacquer. Modern varnishes are just better made, and wear better, and take less upkeep. Nitro's one benefit besides being able to be sprayed is it's fairly easy to repair, whereas lacquers and varnishes usually have to be completely removed and redone. But I'll take a modern varnish, it will last longer and take less upkeep. Nitro is just old school, finishing techniques and materials have improved since then.
Cameron Richardson
A little bit yeah, work on O and U sounds, and keep working that Eddie Vedder angle.
Angel Roberts
the vine of life was always gaudy. That 7 string better detune low as fuck with no problems for that price
Carter Sanchez
>work on O and U sounds is that supposed to mean something without saying whats wrong with them
Nicholas Ortiz
the massive joke is people today think it's lost tone magic when it's just a noxious lacquer paint that was used because it made guitars cheaper to make
thinking nitro is proper is like thinking old fender telecaster bridges made from hacked off machine screws improve harmonic content
Camden Ward
they do tho. teles with steel saddles sound shrill as hell
Justin Richardson
Ugly as fuck. Beginner guitars and these meme moneysinks look kitschy in different ways.
Jack Moore
I find it funny that it's usually the same people bitching about how guitar technology hasn't changed always want their nitro finishes.
Telecasters with six proper brass saddles sound the best.
Who else used six saddle brass bridges, made specifically for guitars instead of scavenged from ford's parts bin? Oh right, Gibson. They didn't so much earn their reputation as fender handed it to them.
Will wear out faster than any of them an is poor against water. It feels really tacky when it's on tools.
Grayson Parker
Nickel plated brass on the good shit.
Brayden Barnes
3 compensated saddles >>> 6 saddles
well guess ill keep them then. btw the eddie vedder thing is just me trying to make the voice bigger and bassier, and accidentally i did some eddie vedder frog sounds.
Carter Myers
same but with 8 strings
Alexander Barnes
You can't even play 6 strings
Liam Lewis
>tfw you genuinely want to believe that a line 6 helix can replace a tube amp but none of the models respond to the volume knob the same >tfw only a kemper does a good enough job >tfw solid state heads without modelling sound great and cost way less
Mine is, epiphones and squiers are actually good guitars. Well the ones above $300
Xavier Green
Jesus fuck he can't even tune his guitar
yes a tremolo harm can sound musical, unless your definition of musical is actually "firmly within musical traditions" . A floyd rose is just one design tremolo arm that stays in tune so it sounds musical when you're done with it as well.
jeff beck might as well have used a floyd rose with all the turd polishing he did to try and keep his strat in tune
Juan Watson
>all the turd polishing he did to try and keep his strat in tune what did jeff beck do?
Eli Hernandez
Is that jcm's Dean in the background?
Joseph Hill
Used a roller nut, locking tuners, and lubricated fucking everything
He's also using a two post/knife edge system today so it's just a less stable floyd rose. At the least, strings should lock at the bridge and tuners, even if you don't want to lock the nut.
>tone ball ends!
Asher Walker
>2:19 holy fuck what a lazy s o y faggot reverse bends are too hard!
Xavier Hughes
you can play faster if you just use the bar no matter how good you are at them
Hudson Parker
ok but he's a soi faggot
Kevin Roberts
the lack of a rounded body is very unnerving
Brayden King
>"quite difficult" >pulls it off flawlessly, just complains that it isn't as smooth sounding
yeah i don't expect people who use /pol/ untermensch lingo to be observant or intelligent anyways
superior imho, rounded bodies slide around too much if you sit down with them. it's like it wasn't designed to be used and was just typical mid 20th century showy stage prop shit.
no asshole he took almost a second to do the second reverse bend
Christian Gray
You sound like a metalhead.
He pulled it off way better than you could and could probably be a pro at it if he practiced them more often, but I guess here in /meal/ we're all about substituting HARDCORE guitar techniques, pointier horns, and heavier strings for actual masculinity lmao.
I'm imagining a pasty buck-thirty nerd furiously practicing reverse bends with .13s and screaming "SLAYER!" to stay pumped.
Cooper Gutierrez
yeah when you're a privileged trust fund baby with a boutique guitar you don't have to play like a man to be respected right?
Grayson Hernandez
Icemans are ergonomic as fuck unironically
Liam Williams
no i just that practiced my bends. metalheads like using floyd to do stuff.
>technique is too "toxic masculinity" for me! >i'd rather use .008s and a floyd instead of learning to bend! >oh and i need a strandberg!
I spent a few hours sifting through a sea of expensive/crap jazz arrangements for Classical Guitar. Turns out there were pdf's of several out-of-print books that had respectable arrangements. I now have more than enough material, just need to piece my interpretations together.
Have you searched for any books only to find they were out of print?
Bentley Jenkins
should have bought a squier bullet instead of that overpriced piece of shit
you just paid $600 not to have the headstock say squier
Nathan Myers
>He didn't buy a Squier Bullet Strat, the only guitar that's worth your money, because he was afraid that if he made a $1000 guitar sound like $10, he'd make a $100 guitar sound like $1
mine is people should focus less on gear and dissing other people and just play
Benjamin Richardson
"squier" by fender is MIC though
Carter Ward
if i like to play fingerstyle and in alternate tunings, with a clean sound, what kind of guitar can you reccomend me? I've been using my shitty squier strat for a long long time and I'd like to replace it. I was thinking maybe an epiphone hollowbody but I have no particular reason i just really like how they look
Austin Richardson
Why? The most logical is american pro. Why did you buy a mim?
Andrew Sanders
>tfw 22 year old Is it too late to start playing guitar?
Henry Cruz
Nobody likes you, Swedegay.
Jayden Young
T.R.A.I.N
Tune, Relief, Action, Intonation, Noodle
Leo Richardson
Should have started at 6-10 like most world class professionals. Pick up the bass, instead, should be more your speed.
Nathan Ramirez
>Fucking awful technique, good 2-3cm clearance. >Dogshit "guitar".
I'll stick to my LP, thanks.
Sebastian King
Where’s the best place to buy bulk strings for cheapest?
I have a 7-string so what I did before was usually find some cheap lot listings of Ernie ball sets, and then got a separate sleeve of unbranded .64 gauge or something strings, for the bottom string. But I lost my stash when I moved, so gotta rebuild the stockpile
Connor Nelson
Earnie Ball factory, they have a nice factory shop there where you can buy in bulk, you have to go in person though, quite a drive to San Luis Obispo from LA, so tough luck flying form the third world, sorry.
Nolan Myers
>he says, one hour later How was the party user?
John Lee
Where's your Gibson, tranny?
Caleb Cook
>the fly is still cheaper than buying bass strings in Brazil
>ear constantly mixes maj7 and min7 chords >spent 5 minutes thinking it was an augmented triad but it was just a major triad >then an augmented triad came up and I thought it was diminished
Does anyone have any clue what this brand or type of acoustic this is called? It's got steel strings that appear to wound at the headstock but the body is sort of a classical shape. I remember playing one in a store a long time ago and loving it.
>letting your gf wear some man's pants >even thinking that's cool and wanting her to wear it
what the hell is this normal?
Benjamin Myers
Spector or Warwick ? Pick users not welcome.
Gabriel Butler
You don't like "Riviera Paradise?" He had good phrasing. Though, if you listen to a lot of his songs in a row you start to notice he plays the same licks a lot. But that's part of his genius because they're usually not ever played 100% exactly the same way when he reuses a lick. He always tweaked it a bit rhythmically or with ostinato or just putting small melodic variations on it.
Lucas King
>Riviera Paradise Sounds just like his other instrumental ballads lmao >not ever played 100% exactly the same way when he reuses a lick Problem is, he does. >He always tweaked it a bit rhythmically or with ostinato or just putting small melodic variations on it. A very tiny bit
Some metal is kinda complicated. I don't know theory beyond harmonization of the major scale so I could be wrong.
Luke Perez
Show me some. All I see is the same old minor scale. The outside stuff is pretty basic that you can come up by ear or through simple patterns
Christian Jackson
This seems like something Brad Pitt would do. I guess if you're going to /fa/ tacky, then you'd better own it.
Bentley Reyes
Exactly this. Tablature isn't reading music. It's a map that points to a location on the guitar. It doesn't tell you how to play it, which finger to use, and the uneducated illiterate fuckheads who try to interpret which fingerings they should use fuck up masterfully.
Use music, you can do easy analysis and it's universal. It's not as difficult to read or interpret as the retards here make it out to be.
Jack Campbell
Streetcleaner
Wyatt Nguyen
Who the hell reads tabulature without listening to the actual music?
It's current year, you dont need to autistically write your music down so people can read it centuries later because there aren't recordings of it.
