serious question: is there any album heavier and more genuinely brutal than this? This just seems like peak primal rage in music form.

Serious question: is there any album heavier and more genuinely brutal than this...
literally hundreds, i'd say thousands counting super obscure stuff
post some them moron, i'm not hear just to post about an already famous album
the performance of coward on this album is their best song
i'd be hard pressed to name one swans song as the best but that would definitely be top 10
Any brutal death metal or doom album pretty much
someone hasn't listened to noise music yet
aaand there it is lmao
bump
What you want it to sound like
>>inb4 some larping black metal garbage
Yeah, Gira willfully making his formative years miserable when he could've had the standard of living in the top 10% of the first world isn't equivalent to edgy black metal horseshit from figures like Euronymous or Gaahl
This is better imo. The live version of 'Shine' on Public Flipper Limited (tough to find a link to it) is the heaviest thing I know. Absolutely Hair-raising.

you talk like someone who only started listening to music like a week ago

I actually prefer the version on Not Here / Not Now.
true
This post literally screams "I'm a clueless genre tourist".
Listen to more music.
>Pink - Boris
Literally the hardest album
Have blown out 7 pairs of headphones to this godforsaken album
But certainly most
olatunji makes this look like kidz bop
Lol, any Chelsea Wolfe record is heavier than this meme
>Olatunji
My man. Love the version of My Favorite Things.
Didn't mean to post that Emptyset cover but oh well.
EVER LOOK AT A FLOWER AND HATE IT??!?!!
somy power electronic record can be heavy as fuck at times
youtube.com
love public castration is a good idea but don't think i could ever touch power electronics
shit scares me
I had similar feelings before I tried to record something similar with friends, after that I know that the artists just improvised and were having pure fun and this shit just can't be scary to me anymore
this is your average swans lmao
not heavy
it's more immersive obliteration than anything swans. fuck heavy i wanna transcend
theres nothing more visceral than listening to a honed in, everything-else-tuned-out free jazz musician going off
Based
classic narrativefag
you should be terrified of pop music
i'm playing in a pop punk band now
average mu poster tbqh
i used to be terrified of pop punk until i realized it wasn't self expression, rather it's a biological transmutation in the life cycle of pizza
op here, Flipper was one of my favorite bands in high school but they are in no way heavier than early Swans. Great album though.
Not gonna respond to every individual post itt but I've listened to most of the artists or at least genres posted itt and none of them reach the same level of complete brutality that Public Castration does. There's something about the slow, deep, heavy pounding of drums, minimal instrumental, and animalistic vocals that makes it feel so much more real and violent than any other record I've heard. Certain power electronics stuff does come to mind but again it lacks that lumbering heaviness. But maybe my criteria is too autistic.
Thanks for the recs tho everyone, I'll be listening to all these albums today.
That part where Gira is barking 'SHARP SHARP SHARP' over and over while the guitarist lets out perfectly timed squeals of feedback is one of my favourite things I've ever heard
everyone in our band was just tired of playing and failing in all kinds of extreme genres so we decided to pack up and play crap music about 2d girls, anyway you're right
I too know the feeling of trying and failing to find something heavier than this.
Birdseed by Whitehouse has the same visceral brutality as Swans in their lyrics, but again, lacks that lumbering heaviness. As it is though, it's the closest thing I've heard.
yeah i love that album as well, far as power electronics goes the one that I've heard that seems the closest to public castration is GR in terms of heaviness and pure ugliness, but I'm also not an expert on the genre.
You know more about it than me then I guess, what is GR?
>famous
famous album, entry level album, token album
Can someone please explain to me what exactly makes PCiaGI the most brutal/aggressive album of all time? I've heard people say this countless times but I don't fucking get it. To me it sounds like a really low energy album. The slowness and simplicity of the songs don't translate to brute force to me, I just find it boring. Do you need to have heard the studio versions of the songs to appreciate the live versions or what's the deal?
Also, how many of you who think this is the "most brutal album" of all time regularly listen to aggressive music? Do you have noise/extreme metal/industrial/etc artists to compare this album to? This is a genuine question
what is this? it appeals to my interests
To me the slow, deep sounds feel like a massive beat down, the space in between beats makes for more of an impact than most noise or noise rock which has very little space. It's certainly not the loudest or most chaotic album I've heard but in terms of heaviness I can't think of anything that matches it.
yes noise rock is one of my most listened to genres and I used to listen to a lot of industrial. Never heard anything that comes close to this. It's not about noise, it's about heaviness and brutality.
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Electric Wizard, Dopethrone
Why are black metal guys "larping" but swans aren't? That seems completely arbitrary.
swans are fake as fuck, that's why they're popular
What?
Who is Coward?
There's no such song titled as
"the performance of coward " on the album
What are you talking about?
I was just trying to get people to reply to my post
