>sold more than any Beatles album while also being Scaruffi-approved (8/10)
How the FUCK did she do it bros?
>sold more than any Beatles album while also being Scaruffi-approved (8/10)
How the FUCK did she do it bros?
also she wrote it when she was 19 and that wasn't really part of the marketing
It's honestly a great album, great song writing and impeccable production.
Her other stuff sucks though
>great songwriting
incorrect
>Impeccable production
also incorrect
It's like every 90s pop trope mixed into one generic mess. Funky wah guitars, trite "grl power" attitude, little shitty breakbeats for a vaguely urban sound. It's awful.
get back to Radiohead, this is not for you
Radiohead opened for alanis in her 1996 tour
You're probably boring arent you. You think if something doesnt sound weird or wacky its cliche. Sure her music on the surface shouldnt stand out, but the production is heavily layered on this album in a smooth and intentionally soft way.
Her songwriting (not the same as lyrics) is extremely tight, shes up there with the greats at least on this album, like Mitchell, Smith, and even Dylan.
She's one of the few celebrities to come out of my city.
It's a really good album..I would listen to it secretly on the bus in between green day CDs
>impeccable production
panning everything to the sides is not good, it sounds like I'm inside of a trashcan
Damn I forgot how twizted the vocal delivery was on this. Song one is pure cringe like a juggalo is singing it.
If you adjust for era Sgt. Pepper probably sold more.
>How the FUCK did she do it bros
irony
Track 3 "Perfect" so far the best song, because there's no pretentious, affected vocal delivery. Shame what this album could have been if 4 Non Blondes had never existed
based trips
It sounds “cool” to women, which is disturbing. I imagine this is why Sleater-Kinney is somehow a successful band, like the cringe factor of a girl singing “punk” or “alt” doesn’t register for other women listening to it.
have sex
The reason I know this is from listening my wife sing along to Alanis.
eric avery I guess
Anyone dissing this album has only heard the hits, and even those are good.
this
(some of her other songs are pretty good too. some)
he had nothing to do with this album.
Once you get over yourself, give it a listen.
You're thinking of Garbage.
Avery dated Morissette for a couple weeks or so, but that was long after this album.
>I imagine this is why Sleater-Kinney is somehow a successful band
SK never sold 100,000 records with one of their albums in the USA. Jagged Little Pill sold over 15,000,000 in the USA. Unsurprisingly it follows that Corin Tucker is also a vastly superior vocalist to Alanis.
I remember hearing all 6! of these singles on the radio, only good one was You Oughta Know. Ridiculous that Scaruffi would give it 8/10 but he bombs every now and then.
