Oh cool /daily/ is back
What's everyone listening to
Little Kid just released cassettes of Logic Songs and Flowers, p hyped nglfam
i ordered his newest cassette where you pick 10 songs and he re-records them with alternate arrangements. looking forward to it.
Listening to old JPEGMAFIA releases before the new album comes out. First time I've listened to Black Ben Carson. Honestly kinda weak: could've been cut down to a single album. The 27 Club bangs though.
Bandana- Freddie + Madlib
I'm seething, the moment I saw it he had already sold out
Which songs did you choose?
Never listened to Peggy, where should I start
can't remember all 10 but bearably sad, let there be light, the fourth, ugly moon, go to hell, census song .. can't remember the rest.
Veteran without a doubt. Not huge into hip hop, but it has good consistent energy and some of the most interesting production I've heard in a while
>Go to hell
I forget River of Blood-era existed, my least favorite release but not bad by any means
Great picks, especially Census Song, I hope some people upload their copies on slsk down the line
Putting it on now, thank you
yeah what the fuck actually happened to /daily/
the fact that it was supposed to be a month originally but ended up lasting over 4 years was always interesting to me
STRUTTER
we retreated to discord when thread lost steam
guess which trip i am :-)
i'm always watching....
alex! - alien technology (2000)
apart from a couple of cheesy numbers ("...sting like a bee", "black swan"), alex ayuli from a.r. kane manages to recapture the magic from their heyday to varying degrees. the opening track goes toe to toe with their best songs imo
recommended to fans of a.r. kane's sophomore release "i"
7/10
Yo veteran is p good
I don't think anyone expected to have as much fun in that first month
We celebrated by listening to that rare Ερμαί Hermae album Anonymoose recommended on Plug and I guess everyone just took it into their hands at that point
Do you think Benji still lurks
Oh wow, I'll listen to anything 6+ if Drop recs it
yeah it should be interested to hear different takes on those songs. i'm just happy to support the guy. i've been trying to make it to one of his shows but something or other always comes up.
Praying I can make it on the 16th, a Little Kid show is a rare thing it seems. hope your time comes soon fren
thanks friend. hope you make it on the 16th and if you do i hope you enjoy it. i'm sure you will.
you could have just filled the chart up with club music eps and call it a day.
Unless AMHAC is a genre-defining megasmash I think Veteran is always going to be the definitive Peggy album. Start there
I'm really enjoying it
Clam out here spilling hard facts
You like Prince?
never listened to Prince ama
does /daily/ like cats?
yes
nyar?
blapp?
>inb4 longbois and pigs
no, gb, but good guess
Speaking of kitties, I need to get around to this today. I've put it off for way too long
Listen to his first two albums and then go to Purple Rain, if you like those three you are good to with the rest.
Also any favorite composers? I like me some Scriabin, especially the third symphony.
> (You)
>blapp?
No!
youtu.be
Martynov, hands down
Never heard Scriabin, if he's made anything near as beautiful as L'apres Midi Du Bach then please give me recs
Also where do you listen to Prince's music
Just finished Veteran
8/10, was fire, can see myself bumping it to a 9 over time
Thanks again for the nice recs /daily/
Never heard of Martynob, will check him out. Here's a personal favorite of mine from Scriabin
youtube.com
You can find Prince's stuff on Spotify, Rutracker, and Deezer (I believe).
i like /daily/ seems like a nice place
does /daily/ like noise and noise rock and that kinda stuff?
ah, then I don't think you would find that alex record all that interesting. kinda niche
I relistened to 25,000 kittens again the other day and I liked it a lot more this time around. the thought of myself being in cat heaven helped the drone feel v comforting
Listening now, if you have any other Scri recs on YouTube feel free to send some my way
Yes
Share you favorite artists with us amigo
YouTube doesn't seem to have anything specifically from Alex Ayuli but it does feature AR Kane. Do you recommend anything by them?
only track on yt, one of my fav
if you like that then you can't go wrong with either 69 or complete singles collection
oohhh yes i love soak the saddle, here are some other noise rock artists i enjoy
anthony milton, bnnt, brainbombs, caroliner, couch slut, deaf kids, drunkdriver, endon, god, gravitar, ground zero, harry pussy, k branding, laddio bolocko, orchestra of constant distress, ramleh, shit and shine, sierść, skullflower, stabscotch, twin stumps, usa/mexico, zs, kommunizm
happy to share and get recs/talk about any of these or noise
listening to this now
Just listened to the Martynov piece. Thanks very much. I like how well put together it is, it's like Vivaldi done by the ways of 60's minimalists or something. Really cool stuff. Thanks once again.
Really happy you liked it. I enjoyed the climax around the 8 minute mark on Symphony 3, it was spoopy while in the dark
I've never heard of Orchestra of Constant Distress but if you like Arab on Radar then I feel like I can trust your taste. I have a road trip tomorrow, will definitely have to put it on then
Do you write reviews? Would like your opinion on 25000 Kittens once you're done with it
Okay Drop, thank you
i definitely recommend orchestras 2019 album, it feels like one-upped sleazy brainbombs instrumentals
i do write small summaries of everything i listen to but english isnt my first language and im not a very experienced writer so its not exactly something i like to show off, its more of a way to solidify my thoughts and train to write better for the future
ive loved 25000 kittens by the way, reminds me of celer
no prob, they're among my favorite bands now. v cool if you look into their story
check pic related out, next level stuff
oh yeah i had 30 minuten mannercreme in my backlog, i guess its time to give em a try
youtu.be
This sounds p dope, wish there was more on YouTube
Just put in cognitive dissonance, digging it
so what's the first Daniel Johnston track you guys played after finding out the news? for me it was grievances
lol it was me that uploaded that one and most of the other tracks on yt
Hey Joe. I hope there's a heaven and there's a star for Daniel
Based drop not even turning on ads
Also I haven't heard anything yet since hearing the news but imagine it'll also be something off Yip Jump (probs Love according to the Bible)
of course not, thanks for confirming that. I could of sworn I still saw an ad before on one of my vids even though I opted to not have any
and a qt too :(
Okay ultimately I enjoyed this album. Well produced and the energy was great. But it didn't stand out enough. Great album from every angle, but not something I see myself coming back to
6/10
I'm still going to go through your recs though. Actually I'll dedicate this whole month to you. What's a tripname i can name my chart after you?
i can add more to the noise rock list if you'd like
Is that a hella pic?
Yes Drop pls do, I'd love to drone you
woah, thanks for the commitment, i plan on adopting 8mally as a trip anyway so it can be that
that score is actually higher than i expected, i fully recognize the orchestra has a somewhat basic noise rock sound
all i can say about these bands is, i always felt that popular noise rock had very little to do with noise and should have sounded more like twin stumps (also a reason why i got deep into blackened noise, happy to discuss that too), which is why i dont really recognize bands like dfa97, sonic youth or dinosaur jr as "noise" rock (although ultimately its a spectrum, so it all depends on the perspective) but as an example of noisier rock theres definitely the aforementioned twin stumps, anthony milton's rag red reverie and drunkdriver's list of profound insecurities
anyway, have fun with the albums, im bout to dig into live and shave in l.a
bare with me, sorry for taking a while, was trying to get out of work. started the list, just bumping cause thread was close to rip.
that's a pic of the hospitals
drunks with guns - s/t
the hospitals - s/t
purling hiss - s/t
leather slave - s/t
the gordons - s/t
El Jesus de magico - just deserts
lower - walk on heads
cuntz - force the zone
electric eels - die electric eels
sexA - Sexa u živo

they don't really fit 8mally's description of noise rock but some do
Got it, thank you
8mally what do you think of Daughters? I don't see them on your list. They used to be one of my favorites, in a way I'm a little nostalgic for the time when they weren't as known.
