now listen to aenima
perfection is subjective
Great. Now go listen to their actual best album Ænima
This.
Tool holds up, it just throws me off how "edgy" it feels now. When I listed to it growing up, I was oblivious to it. Coming back after all these years, it feels very 90s-edge somehow.
too straightforward
Tool has soul
> has a song "Hooker with a Penis"
no wonder Yea Forums loves it
>Great. Now go listen to their actual best album Ænima
You mean Undertow? The most non pretentious album they made?
Single handley the best from front to back.
Maynard is rape
Their new album is honestly underwhelming. We waited 13 years for them to use the same riffs from Jambi for every song?
not that guy, but I skipped this until now, because I'm usually scared away by older stuff. I usually go back in a discography. But it's really good.
"edgy", as apposed to the soundcloud wank pouring out of media synagogues now?
If you find Tool shocking I can only imagine you exclusively listen to Top 40 shit.
>and this is the first time as an adult
How old are you?
With mega-poser Henry Rollins moaning his fake, tough guy "poetry" on the album? Nah.
>I'M ANGRY FUCK LIVING IN LA
>the album
>not picking their actual best, most based album
>naked and fearless
>but my fear is naked
Whoa
He's such an insecure dildo.
I actually like Henry, but he's just so easy to make fun of
39, why?
You mean generic 90s alt metal? No im fine with prog tool
>Never even read Ænima tracklist before
welcome brother
it’s still perfect almost 20 years later.
and Aenima and Undertow are both damn near perfect.
goddamn
shit the bed
it will always be perfect, it's the perfect prog metal album
Being thrown off by one song because you're a fag.
gotta move past that phase too and realize Tool is just a band that produces fun good sounding music
Nothing better than driving home at night and listening to Third Eye
It's almost as perfect as a man who fucks corpses for art.
>More Sex With The Dead
>(From July/Aug 1981 Issue)
>Dear WET,
>I read with sadness and some surprise your "Sex with the Dead" article in March/April 1981 WET. In 1976, I had access to a morgue and did a piece called Necrophilia.
>Perhaps John Duncan would not have had to put himself through the mental agony, had he seen that I had done the piece several years before.
>The necrophilia piece came to me after having a dream that I was fucking a seductive and beautiful living woman who rapidly aged and died as we were making love. She clamped her arms around me and the sides of the bed became a coffin enclosure.
>The dream was terrifying but I saw the Necrophilia piece as the ultimate resolution of polarities - Life/Death - if you could love death you could accept and love life more fully.
>After doing the morgue pieces I felt less afraid of death, but more afraid of the moral and karmic consequences of my actions. I was heavy into LSD at the time and had a few revelations about our immortality. In 1979 I hallucinated a trial of the souls who were involved. I met the soul of the woman that I had sex with. She was extremely angry and screamed at me saying - didn't I know I was violating her and that she was a person just as I was. I was so sorry, disgraced and disgusted with myself, I cried and begged her forgiveness. She did not forgive me, but I was put on a kind of probation by the judge and told to do good works, not harmful and negative works. A day has not gone by that I haven't thought of the necrophilia piece. I guess, during the past couple of years, I have come to regard the body as a sacred thing as well as a piece of meat.

shit i fell asleep after making this thread. anyway, ive never heard anything like this album, i dont know why i never bothered with tool as a fan of metal/prog/grunge/alt shit my whole life, ive heard undertow a few times and considered it one of the better grunge era albums, but lateralus isnt something i could see any of the grunge bands coming out with later in their careers if they lived long enough. this band is interesting as fuck actually. gonna listen to them from the beginning all the way to FI now.
but please, if anyone has music similar to parabola/this album id like to hear it, shit is crazy and i cant really put my finger on it. im pretty old and have listened to a crapload of music though, like, there isnt a band listed on progarchives/metellum that i havnt listened to at least two albums from so im pretty convinced there isnt anything else like tool. those nutty tool worshippers were onto something after all lel
the madman, fucking literal goddamn madman. jesus christ
Are you guys really tryhard enough to google "AE" sign for AEnigma?
>Ænima
wow it took like 4 extra seconds. i am a bad enough dude to pull it off and be cool
