7empest was the only good song on the album right?
7empest was the only good song on the album right?
It was good but far from the best on the album
it was the worst song on the album, that first verse is some of the corniest shit i have ever heard
what other songs were better?
everything else on the album sounded like 10000 days/lateralus rejects we've heard already a few times over
Not those anons but, FI is the best song, Invincible second best, 7empest third best
Best song was the title track and it was ok at best.
All the songs are the same fucking bullshit. CCTrip is the best by sheer virtue of not being another droney interlude or limp dick 10+ minute dronefest.
>7empest was the only good song on the album right?
What else do you expect from 7ool.
Based. The chip trip is the hip dip
>drumfags
based
I was starved for anything after listening to the boring as fuck percussion on the rest of the album
I listened to this album a few times without paying much attention to the lyrics and didn't really get it, but now that I'm listening through while reading the lyrics it's all making a lot more fucking sense.
pneuma Invincible are both better
invincible sucked
pneuma and FI are debatable as good but I still say 7empest has the most to offer considering its actually a METAL song from a progressive METAL band
I'm actually a guitarfag, that's probably why I hate Tool so much
I can't stop listening to this album, bros. It's not particularly amazing but something about it just makes me want to re-listen over and over again
Invincible is pretty based. Worst is Pneuma or Culling Voices
"Descending" had the most powerful hooks. But like the entire album, none of them are developed (or repeated to savour more than once.) 7empest also has the most (and most egregiously long) drawn out solos. This is not the David Gilmour of Metal established in Aenema/Lateralus. Every hammer-on triplet is cringe. Every single one.
>CCTrip is the best by sheer virtue of not being another droney interlude or limp dick 10+ minute dronefes
He gets it. CCT is at least a straightforward (honest) prog drum/electronic instrumental. Go support his recent jazz band forays before spending a dime on this one.
>Worst is Pneuma or Culling Voices
I love Chancellor relegated to rhythm guitar playing the same intro riff from another album(s) for an eternity when they might've let him sample and loop while playing, idk, something that actually locked-in with the drums or built up a threadbare texture palate.
On the other hand, Culling Voices is the most irritatingly vanilla (A Perfect Circle) ASMR-James-Keynan song on the whole thing.
Descending and Invincible are the real scrote-milkers for me, but I'm having a mid-life crisis so they speak to me. Right message right time, probably.
7empest slaps. I wish I could describe what it is that I'm trying to articulate, but I dont mind the length, I like the riffs themselves and feel like the band is going hard as fuck, but something in the sonic quality isnt going as hard as the song is. Maybe it needed a little more distortion or something? Am I retarded?
Culling Voices probably best vocal performance.
Pneuma overstays its welcome by one chorus. It has its momentum but has no acceleration or force keeping it so it loses my attention. It has sick parts and riffs, but it has nowhere to go and the band probably like, overthought it or something. They needed to stop it sooner imo.
titular track same thing, overstays its welcome. The chorus has a real ass on it, they couldve put one more of those toward the end maybe with a different dynamic or a key change for some real closure. The single is nice with a lot of great things going on, but in those last 3 minutes its like theyre exploring and not sure where to go.
CCTRIP - DC is the GOAT. Tool and Meshuggah have deities playing for them.
i heard some tool tracks, too prog for me. what's the most direct song on that records tool fans?
Pneuma, Descending, and 7empest are the best tracks.
On this record? None. Previous albums’ straight forward songs are The Pot, Schism, Stinkfist, H., Hooker With A Penis, and most of Undertow and Opiate.
thanks. maybe tool needs a record of only direct songs but that's my opinion, i only heard a couple of songs by them
If you're a mealfag maybe
It's actually the worst song on the album.
Ha, i like those two songs and i was thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if they did long-ass songs with the chugging and mathing drawn right out so Maynard was less annoying?" and lo and behold here it is.
The easter eggs are cute too. Exact halfway point of FI is the word 'mitosis'.
I swear im the only person who thinks culling voices is the best track.
