It's too late now but if they had pulled a Manic Street Preachers and continued Nirvana after Kurt how would it have worked out?

They would need Billie to fill his spot.
They should've gotten Steve Albini. Could've paid him in burgers and kept the money for themselves.
True, Dave basically confirmed it in an interview.
it would've been fucking garbage obviously. kurt cobain was nirvana. he came up with every riff except the one for scentless apprentice. he wrote all the lyrics. he did all the singing. he came up with all the ideas.
Foo Fighters
And every single one of those riffs and ideas was total shit. Maybe Nirvana would have finally put out a decent song.
Absolutely not
nirvana was a fantastic band, fucktard
>Nirvana would've been garbage without Kurt
>Nirvana was already garbage with Kurt
Make a distinction, l please
kurt cobain is unironically one of the greatest pop singers and lyricists of all time. he melded influences from hardcore punk perfectly with beatles-esque pop-rock.
>kurt cobain was nirvana.
bullshit. i mean, i don't blame you for making this observation but, it falls into the category of observations such as "freddie mercury was queen", "axl rose is guns n' roses", "bono is u2", etc.
i mean they're all certainly the face of their respective bands but you're not going to tell me that roger taylor isn't also an important part of what queen is and so on.
no, i'm not saying that the other members weren't important, but kurt cobain was nirvana. even krist novoselic has said this.
Imagine if they both joined Dinosaur Jr.
J would've never had it though.
This. The first Foo Fighters album is nearly perfect.
dino jr was j mascis solo lmao.
and it was good for that.
What the fuck are you talking about dude? Kurt cobain was objectively the primary songwriter of essentially every nirvana song, you can't say the same thing about freddie mercury or axl rose, plus kurt cobain's guitar playing is one of the biggest things that set nirvana apart from other bands, whether he plays well from a technical standpoint is completely irrelevant, he had a very unique sound and way of playing the guitar. Sure, dave grohl was a fantastic drummer, but nirvana still put out great music when chad channing was drumming as well, and krist was a good but not amazing drummer.
Judging from the fact that the foo fighters never put out an album that was cohesive and good all the way through (you can fight me on that if you want) and that Krist Novoselic's band sweet 75 are pretty mediocre, there's no way in hell nirvana would actually be anywhere near as good without him.
This isn't a manic street preachers type of situation since even though richie edwards wrote some amazing lyrics and contributed to the bands aesthetic and artistic direction, he didn't have much of a hand in the songwriting since Dean bradfield did the majority of it, and was also capable of writing great lyrics as well, making it far easier for the band to move on without Richie.
Anybody who thinks nirvana would've worked without Kurt Cobain is literally fucking retarded, and the vibe, sound, songwriting and mood of the music would change completely if dave, krist, or maybe pat smear took over the band, it wouldn't be nirvana.
*meant bassist when referring to krist
true, people on here seem to hate him for being popular.
It'd sound like the foo fighters. Dave couldn't
make music like Kurdt.
The only person that could have filled Kurt's shoes in Nirvana, both about singing talent and songwriting talent, was Mark Lanegan
Prove me wrong
It didn't happen because it couldn't, so you are wrong.
It didn't happen because it didn't, not because it couldn't
this. nirvana was kurt's artistic vision all the way through, only people unfamiliar with their story would say otherwise. also, just to make a small correction, after richie it was nicky wire who wrote all the lyrics. bradfield really only dabbled in that in his solo album and a few other songs.
