Yeah, when they were talking about this album in an interview a few months ago they made it sound like it would be Maladroit 2.0 which would be nice. But it does seem like they're going way more in on the Van Halen-esque riffage which may be a bit much IMO. I think Maladroit is severely underrated and love the guitar work on that album. Still though, hopefully the songwriting is up to par, that's my main concern.

I'm more interested in OK Human, but I'm not going to roll my eyes at a fun rock record. I listened to Mala a bunch in college. It's a fun little record that fans bash because they'd heard a lot of it before it came out. It's only got one meh song, Possibilities. Death & Destruction is one of Weezer's best tracks.

I've always found it strange that some will bash Maladroit and praise Green. Those two came out back to back and IMO Maladroit is far and away the superior album.

I've come to actually REALLY love Green. O Girlfriend is a hidden gem and feels like a dolled up Pinkerton track. Some of Rivers best bluntly honest lyrics. However, I can agree that Maladroit is a great record and probably better than Green.

The vocals are pretty comfy but I like feel like you need the crazy fun Maladroit guitar sound to compensate for the pretty terrible lyrics of the song.

The "soggy lungs" line is the only thing that doesn't work for me. Maladroit lyrics are actually pretty decent, albeit really obtuse and weird.
